Beliefs of Life cycle (or life cycle - related beliefs) of ethnic minorities in the Northwestern region of Vietnam are the beliefs related to the lives of people in this region from birth to death which carried out through basic rituals such as: the rituals in childbirth, marriage, funeral and rituals of treatment, etc. The beliefs of life cycle plays an important role in the cultural life of ethnic minorities: helping people have psychological balance before the steps of birth – old age – sickness – death in the human life; a place that aspires for a peaceful, happy life and maintains the emotional attachment between generations and with the community; a place that preserves many cultural values with humanity, morality, ethic values and unique artistic values, contributing to the cultural nuances of ethnic groups in the Northwestern region. In the current context, the life cycle beliefs of ethnic minorities in the Northwestern region are having a strong recovery, creating conditions for good cultural values of this kind of beliefs to promote the role in cultural life of ethnic minorities. However, the tendency of recovery both prolix and expensive rituals and miscellaneous cultural features, unsound customs as well as outdated habits are posing many challenges, requiring effective solutions to preserve and promote the good cultural values in this kind of beliefs of ethnic minorities in the Northwestern mountainous region of Vietnam in the current context.

Life cycle rituals are related to individual from birth to death. Under completely human social view, the life cycle rituals help identify human life opinion and world point of view. They also reflect the way of Co Tu people’s behaviour. In this study, the author uses ethnographic approach, geocultural approach and  interdisciplinary method in order to study aspects: Main rituals, human, artistic and moral values related to the life cycle rituals of Co Tu people in Quang Nam province.

AbstractThis writing is intended to convey the analysis and critiques on issues and situations of the Lamaholot inheritance customary law must not only be under the ancestor's values that developed in the society but also following the development of the society that has gone through modernization and emancipation, which has resulted in equal positions between men and women in every aspect of human life. Through juridical normative research method, and the emphasis on the Lamaholot tribe, it is found that there are an imbalance position and rights between male and female successor, where the right to inherit is only owned by the male successor. This creates an injustice for the female successor, which fundamentally violates the concept of inheritance in the Indonesian Civil Law Code as the national guidelines of the private sphere of society. The existence of law has greatly impacted human life because where there are humans, that is where the law is. The law will only be classified appropriate if it achieves legal objectives, namely justice, legal certainty, and legal benefit. One of the spheres of human life which are also regulated by law is in the process of inheritance by the predecessor to the successor. This inheritance then enters the realm of private law, which is still dominated by customary law. Customary law as a form of cultural diversification of Indonesia and a core element of the development of the national law itself is still upright and implemented in the practice of inheritance. As a result, it can be concluded that gender-based rights disparities are evident in the socio-cultural life of the Lamaholot indigenous tribe. Thus, through this research, two paths should be implemented by the state. The first one is to approve the Bill on the Protection of Customary Law Communities as an instrument that will act as the implementative boundaries for the implementation of customary law and the second one is to accommodate customary law into Regional Regulations (Peraturan Daerah) as a form of preservation of the customary values of each tribe so that they are in line with the applicable positive laws without eliminating the uniqueness of each basic cultural values of each region.Keywords: customary law; Lamaholot tribe; inheritance AbstrakTulisan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mengkritik masalah dan situasi pengaturan pewarisan hukum adat Lamoholot yang sepatutnya tidak hanya sesuai dengan nilai-nilai nenek moyang yang berkembang di masyarakat, tetapi juga sesuai dengan perkembangan masyarakat yang telah melalui modernisasi dan emansipasi dalam masyarakat yang melahirkan kesetaraan kedudukan antara laki-laki dan perempuan dalam setiap lini kehidupan manusia. Metode yang digunakan ialah yuridis normative untuk menelaah kritis pada sistem waris adat suku Lamaholot, justru ditemukan adanya ketidakseimbangan kedudukan dan hak atas ahli waris yang berjenis kelamin laki-laki dan perempuan, dimana hak atas waris hanya dimiliki oleh ahli waris yang berjenis kelamin laki-laki saja. Tentunya hal ini menimbulkan sebuah ketidakadilan bagi ahli waris yang berjenis kelamin perempuan, dimana turut melanggar konsep pewarisan yang dianut dalam KUHPerdata selaku kaidah pedoman nasional yang mengatur ranah privat masyarakat. Eksistensi hukum sangat berdampak terhadap kehidupan manusia, sebab dimana ada manusia, disitulah hukum berada. Hukum baru dikatakan baik dan pantas bila mencapai tujuan hukum, yakni keadilan, kepastian dan kemanfaatan hukum. Salah satu lingkup kehidupan manusia yang juga diatur oleh hukum ialah dalam proses pewarisan oleh pewaris terhadap ahli waris. Pewarisan ini kemudian masuk ke dalam ranah privat hukum, yang mana kini masih didominasi pengaturannya oleh hukum adat. Hukum adat sebagai wujud diversifikasi budaya bangsa Indonesia dan unsur inti dari pembangunan hukum nasional pun masih tegak berdiri dan terlaksana dalam pewarisan adat tersebut. Alhasil, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ketimpangan hak berbasis gender pun begitu jelas nampak dalam kehidupan sosial-budaya masyarakat adat Lamaholot. Dengan demikian, melalui penelitian ini pun didapati dua jalan yang sepatutnya dilaksanakan oleh negara yaitu pengesahaan RUU Perlindungan Masyarakat Hukum Adat sebagai instrumen yang menggariskan batasan-batasan implementatif terhadap pemberlakuan hukum adat dan diakomodirkannya hukum adat ke dalam Peraturan Daerah (Perda) sebagai wujud pelestarian nilai-nilai adat setiap suku agar selaras dengan hukum positif yang berlaku tanpa menghilangkan keunikan dari setiap nilai-nilai dasar kebudayaan masing-masing daerah.

The Central Highlands is an area with a large community of ethnic minorities to be living. In the process of integration into the world economy, community tourism are one of the economic sectors that are interested in developing in our country in general and the Central Highlands area in particular.Although the activity has not been long, but it can be said that tourism and community tourism are the basis and premise to contribute to the socio-economic development of the Central Highlands; contribute to restoring many traditional cultural values of ethnic groups. For a variety of subjective and objective reasons, tourism activity and community tourism have affected ethnic lifestyles, customs and culture in both positive and limited ways. This is an issue that needs to be considered for research, with practical implications for sustainable tourism activities to create momentum for economic development and cultural preservation of ethnic groups in the Central Highlands area in the period of accelerating industrialization, nationalization and international economic integration.

Precise estimation of age is essential in evolutionary anthropology, especially to infer population age structures and understand the evolution of human life history diversity. However, in small-scale societies, such as hunter-gatherer populations, time is often not referred to in calendar years, and accurate age estimation remains a challenge. We address this issue by proposing a Bayesian approach that accounts for age uncertainty inherent to fieldwork data. We developed a Gibbs sampling Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm that produces posterior distributions of ages for each individual, based on a ranking order of individuals from youngest to oldest and age ranges for each individual. We first validate our method on 65 Agta foragers from the Philippines with known ages, and show that our method generates age estimations that are superior to previously published regression-based approaches. We then use data on 587 Agta collected during recent fieldwork to demonstrate how multiple partial age ranks coming from multiple camps of hunter-gatherers can be integrated. Finally, we exemplify how the distributions generated by our method can be used to estimate important demographic parameters in small-scale societies: here, age-specific fertility patterns. Our flexible Bayesian approach will be especially useful to improve cross-cultural life history datasets for small-scale societies for which reliable age records are difficult to acquire.

Lirik lagu merupakan salah satu manifestasi sastera yang mencerminkan ketinggian nilai budaya masyarakat pendukungnya. Lirik dan irama lagu semestinya nusa yang berpisah tiada dan menjadi hiburan dalam kehidupan manusia. Menerusi lirik lagu ia bukan hanya sekadar mengulit halwa telinga dan memberi hiburan semata-mata, malah dalam seni kata lagu juga terkandung dengan nilai, moral dan pengajaran yang mampu memberi didikan dalam membentuk keperibadian seseorang. Kepelbagaian genre dan bait lagu yang terhasil menunjukkan variasi kebudayaan daripada pengkarya yang menunjukkan kreadiliti keunggulan dalam sesuatu penciptaan karya. Kajian ini dilaksanakan sebagai merungkai persoalan tentang peranan lirik lagu terpilih dalam mengembleng unsur positif terhadap masyarakat pendengar. Selain itu, kajian ini juga meneliti bait-bait lirik lagu Tolong Ingatkan Aku, yang dihasil dan dinyanyikan oleh Ana Raffali sehingga diangkat mempunyai nilai komersial kerana telah dijulang sebagai juara lagu dalam Anugerah Juara Lagu Ke-25. Kaedah kajian ini dijalankan secara kualitatif atau kepustakaan melalui penelitian bahan seperti artikel, buku, majalah dan tesis. Teori resepsi dijadikan sebagai sandaran untuk meneliti dan merungkaikan setiap bait lirik lagu ini yang merangkumi aspek gaya bahasa, teknik penulisan, unsur kesamaran, bauran kiasan dan perlambangan atau semiotik bagi membuktikan falsafah gaya penyampaian pengkarya. Hasil kajian mendapati lagu Tolong Ingatkan Aku merupakan sebuah karya berbentuk lagu puisi yang terhasil dalam penyampaian implisit sebagai memberi pesanan, sindiran halus dan nasihat terhadap kehidupan manusia agar tidak alpa tatkala berada di kemuncak kegemilangan.   The lyrics of the song are one of the literary manifestations that reflect the high cultural values of its supporters. The lyrics and the rhythm of the song should not be separated tomb and become an entertainment in human life. Through the lyrics of the song it is not just about listening to the ears and providing entertainment, but also in the art of the word, the song also contains the values, morals and teachings that can provide education in shaping one's personality. The variety of genres and bytes of the resulting song reflects the cultural variation of the work that exemplifies the mastery of excellence in the creation of a work. This study was conducted to address the question of the role of selected song lyrics in shaping positive elements in the listening community. In addition, this study also examines the lyrics of the song Tolong Ingatkan Aku, which was produced and sung by Ana Raffali until it was commercially recognized for being nominated for a song of the year in the 25th Anugerah Juara Lagu. This research method is conducted qualitatively or literature review through the study of materials such as articles, books, magazines and theses. The reception theory was used as a guideline to examine and interpret every verse of the lyrics of this song, which included aspects of language style, writing techniques, ambiguity, metaphorical and symbolic or semiotic elements to prove the artist's delivery style philosophy. The result of the study found the song Tolong Ingatkan Aku is a work of poetic form that results in implicit delivery as giving orders, delicate satire and advice to human life to avoid the harp while at its peak.

The paper deals with the problems of preserving objects of Russian history and culture in 1917-1927. The author analyzes contradictory processes in the cultural life of the Soviet state in the first post-revolutionary decade. Based on archival sources, she shows the activities of the departments for protection of art monuments and antiques, the role of creative intelligentsia in saving and museumification of cultural and historical values. For example, she describes the first state inventory of art and historical values, as well as realization difficulties of their protection policy in some provinces. There are also some wreck and ruin examples of nobilitys country estates. The author emphasizes the role of creative intelligentsia in saving and museumification of cultural values and characterizes some cultural workers of the designated era accentuating that they have corrected, to a certain extent, revolutionary nihilism of the authorities concerning the cultural heritage. Due to this fact, the 1920s became the Golden age in the history of museum business. During this period, public and private repositories replenished countrys museums with works of art and antiquities. The author concludes that the museumification of Church buildings and objects relating to divine worship was a way to save them for total destruction. The author uses new dates, gathered in the central and regional archives of Russian Federation.

<p>Education is a process of individual continuously learning and adaptation to the cultural values and social ideals. Education is a comprehensive process including all the aspects of life to prepare them to be able to face all the challenges. Considering the definition, we will see how dominant the aspects of human life style management in order to be in accordance with the universe are. An education process is expected to produce tolerance, egalitarianism, and skills to actualize one's self in the constellation of human life dynamics. It is also expected to produce peace and harmony as a part of ideal community with the educated people as the members. It means that the education process is considered failed if it produces totalitarian cannibalism that can easily arouse conflicts among people. Therefore, the understanding of an ideal Islamic education that is accommodative to the values of plurality and brotherhood among people should emerge. Finally, the values can be the source of aspiration in rearranging the religious concept of this nation to regain the peace that has once been disappeared because of the conflict among the religious communities, through education</p><p> </p><p>Pendidikan adalah proses individu yang terus belajar dan beradaptasi dengan nilai budaya dan cita-cita sosial. Pendidikan adalah proses yang komprehensif termasuk semua aspek kehidupan untuk mempersiapkan mereka untuk dapat menghadapi semua tantangan. Dengan mempertimbangkan definisinya, kita akan melihat betapa dominannya aspek manajemen gaya hidup manusia agar sesuai dengan alam semesta tersebut. Proses pendidikan diharapkan bisa menghasilkan toleransi, egalitarianisme, dan keterampilan untuk mengaktualisasikan diri seseorang dalam konvergensi dinamika kehidupan manusia. Hal ini juga diharapkan dapat menghasilkan kedamaian dan harmoni sebagai bagian dari komunitas ideal dengan orang-orang terpelajar sebagai anggotanya. Artinya, proses pendidikan dianggap gagal jika menghasilkan kanibalisme totaliter yang bisa dengan mudah menimbulkan konflik antar manusia. Oleh karena itu, pemahaman tentang pendidikan Islam ideal yang akomodatif terhadap nilai pluralitas dan persaudaraan antarmanusia diharapkan muncul. Akhirnya, nilai-nilai bisa menjadi sumber aspirasi dalam menata ulang konsep religius bangsa ini untuk mendapatkan kembali kedamaian yang dulunya lenyap karena konflik antar umat beragama, melalui pendidikan.</p>
