<p class="zhengwen"><span lang="EN-GB">In order to develop the design techniques for the hypersonic aerodynamic testing model with duct system of internal flow and external flow decoupling, this research used a circular cross section air-breathing hypersonic cruise vehicle model, explored the model design technique for internal flow and external flow separated from each other, the design technique and the seal technique for the clearance between the internal flow part and the external flow part, the design technique of ring type six-component strain-gauge balance and so on. A wind tunnel test was conducted at mach 6. The results of the test indicate that, the design of the internal flow and external flow decoupling test system is successful to get credible test data. It have been mastered that the key techniques for the test system design of internal flow and external flow decoupling.</span></p>

This paper develops a general theory for the dynamics of slender, nonuniform axisymmetric beams subjected to either internal or external flow, or to both simultaneously. The effect of the boundary layer of the external flow is taken into account in the formulation. Typical solutions of the equations of motion are presented for cantilevered conical beams in external flow and for beams with a conical internal flow passage. Such systems lose stability at sufficiently high flow velocity, internal or external, either by flutter or by buckling. The effect of several parameters is investigated. For internal flow, the internal and external shape, whether uniform or conical, and the density of the surrounding fluid have sometimes unexpected effects on stability; e.g., tubular beams lose stability at lower internal flow when immersed in water than when in air. For external flow the effects of conicity, free end shape and boundary-layer thickness are investigated; the latter has a strong stabilizing influence, such that simple theory neglecting this effect results in serious error.

This paper describes the experimental program which was conducted in parallel with the theoretical investigation presented in Part 1 of this study. Experiments were conducted in a special water tunnel with silicone rubber cantilevers which, in the case of external flow, were truncated cones, the free ends of which were streamlined; in the case of internal flow the beams were tubular, conical inside, and either conical or cylindrical outside, immersed either in still air or water. Experiments were also conducted with uniform tubular cylinders, and some with simultaneous internal and external axial flow. Qualitatively these experiments support theoretical predictions very well. The critical conditions for the various fluid-elastic instabilities which these systems can develop were measured and compared with theory. Quantitative agreement ranged from excellent to fair, the former for internal flow in conical tubes, and the latter for very slender cones in external flow.

The strong noise generated during the operation of the centrifugal pump harms the pump group and people. In order to decrease the noise of the centrifugal pump, a specific speed of 117.3 of the centrifugal pump is chosen as a research object. The bionic modification of centrifugal pump blades is carried out to explore the influence of different bionic structures on the noise reduction performance of centrifugal pumps. The internal flow field and internal sound field of bionic blades are studied by numerical calculation and test methods. The test is carried out on a closed pump test platform which includes external characteristics and a flow noise test system. The effects of two different bionic structures on the external characteristics, acoustic amplitude–frequency characteristics and flow field structure of a centrifugal pump, are analyzed. The results show that the pit structure has little influence on the external characteristic parameters, while the sawtooth structure has a relatively great influence. The noise reduction effect of the pit structure is aimed at the wide-band noise, while the sawtooth structure is aimed at the discrete noise of the blade-passing frequency (BPF) and its frequency doubling. The noise reduction ability of the sawtooth structure is not suitable for high-frequency bands.

In order to analyze the response characteristics of the solenoid valve in depth, the flow field of the solenoid valve is analyzed by means of the computational fluid dynamics, and the aerodynamic parameters that are difficult to be obtained by the traditional methods are obtained with software FLUENT. We also set up the mathematical model of the solenoid valve, including the aerodynamic model, the circuit model, the magnetic circuit model and the mechanical motion model. The calculation is completed in the Simulink, and the results of the calculation are analyzed. A set of the solenoid valve response characteristic test system is built, and the response characteristic parameters such as response time and maximum action frequency of the solenoid valve are tested. The experimental results are verified by comparing them with the simulation results. The final result shows that the response characteristics are basically irrelevant to the action frequency at a suitable working frequency. The open switching time of the solenoid valve decreases with the increase in the inlet pressure and the driving voltage and increases with the increase in the number of coil turns. The close switching time increases with the increase in the inlet pressure, the driving voltage and the number of coil turns.

Flutter is an aeroelastic phenomenon that may cause severe damage to aircraft. Traditional flutter evaluation methods have many disadvantages (e.g., complex, costly and time-consuming) which could be overcome by ground flutter test technique. In this study, an unsteady aerodynamic model is obtained using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code according to the procedure of frequency domain aerodynamic calculation. Then, the genetic algorithm (GA) method is adopted to optimize interpolation points for both excitation and response. Furthermore, the minimum-state method is utilized for rational fitting so as to establish an aerodynamic model in time domain. The aerodynamic force is simulated through exciters and the precision of simulation is guaranteed by multi-input and multi-output robust controller. Finally, ground flutter simulation test system is employed to acquire the flutter boundary through response under a range of air speeds. A good agreement is observed for both velocity and frequency of flutter between the test and modeling results.

It is crucial measuring position and attitude of model to gain the precise and accurate data in wind tunnel tests. The model displacement videogrammetric measurement (MDVM) system and its key techniques such as the exterior orientation with big rotation angles and large-overlap, mark points, image processing and calibration based on the known distances are therefore presented. The practice example in Asia's largest (2.4m) transonic wind tunnel has demonstrated the MDVM system and its key techniques are correct and feasible, and they have application value.

In order to study the internal flow characteristics and external droplet velocity distribution characteristics of the swirl nozzle, the following methods were used: numerical simulations were used to study the internal flow characteristics of a swirl nozzle and phase Doppler particle velocimetry was used to determine the corresponding external droplet velocity distribution under medium and low pressure conditions. The distributions of pressure and water velocity inside the nozzle were obtained. Meanwhile, the velocities of droplets outside the nozzle in different sections were discussed. The results show that the flow rate in the swirl nozzle increases with the increase in inlet pressure, and the local pressure in the region decreases because of the excessive velocity at the internal outlet section of the swirl nozzle, resulting in cavitation. The experimental results show that under an external flow field, the minimum droplet velocity occurs in the axial direction; starting from the axis, the velocity first increases and then decreases along the radial direction. Swirling motion inside the nozzle and velocity variations in the external flow field occur under medium and low pressure conditions. The relationship between the inlet pressure and the distributions of water droplets’ velocities was established, which provides a reference for the research and development of the swirl nozzle.

This work introduces a similarity solution to the problem of a viscous, incompressible and rotational fluid in a right-cylindrical chamber with uniformly porous walls and a non-circular cross-section. The attendant idealization may be used to model the non-reactive internal flow field of a solid rocket motor with a star-shaped grain configuration. By mapping the radial domain to a circular pipe flow, the Navier–Stokes equations are converted to a fourth-order differential equation that is reminiscent of Berman’s classic expression. Then assuming a small radial deviation from a fixed chamber radius, asymptotic expansions of the three-component velocity and pressure fields are systematically pursued to the second order in the radial deviation amplitude. This enables us to derive a set of ordinary differential relations that can be readily solved for the mean flow variables. In the process of characterizing the ensuing flow motion, the axial, radial and tangential velocities are compared and shown to agree favourably with the simulation results of a finite-volume Navier–Stokes solver at different cross-flow Reynolds numbers, deviation amplitudes and circular wavenumbers.

The linear stability of the impulsively started flow through a pipe of circular cross-section is studied at high Reynolds number R. A crucial non-dimensional time of O(R7/9) is identified at which the disturbance acquires internal flow characteristics. It is shown that even if the disturbance amplitude at this time is as small as O(R−22/27) the subsequent evolution of the perturbation is nonlinear, although it can still be followed analytically using a multiple-scales approach. The amplitude and wave speed of the nonlinear disturbance are calculated as functions of time and we show that as t → ∞, the disturbance evolves into the long-wave limit of the neutral mode structure found by Smith & Bodonyi in the fully developed Hagen–Poiseuille flow, into which our basic flow ultimately evolves. It is proposed that the critical amplitude found here forms a stability boundary between the decay of linear disturbances and ‘bypass’ transition, in which the fully developed state is never attained.

Videogrammetric measurement is a research focus for the organizations of wind tunnel test because of its no special requirements on the test model, its key techniques for the vibration environment of the high speed wind tunnel are introduced by this paper, such as the solution of exterior parameters with big-angle large overlap, the algorithm of image processing for extracting marked point, the method of camera calibration and wave-front distortion field measurement. The great requirements and application prospects of videogrammetry in wind tunnel fine testing have been demonstrated by several practice experiments, including to measure test model’s angle of attack, dynamic deformations and wave-front distortion field in high speed wind tunnels whose test section size is 2 meters.
