Who are the young school volunteers? Generation Z – in the face of school volunteering

The article presents a short description of the generation Z in terms of values, expectations, attitudes, character traits and motivation to volunteering work. The analysis of the literature on the subject, research results and the author’s experience in the organization of school volunteering in a group of young people representing generation Z, allowed to answer questions on how to organize volunteering among young people from generation Z. In the final part of the article the author, on the basis of her own experience as a volunteering coordinator, describes the figure of young school volunteer.

The subject of is study was the image of contemporary young people in Polish opinion magazines. The research problem was identified as the manner in which the opinion-forming press creates the im­age of the Z generation. Nearly 500 issues published by 10 weeklies in the period between 2015–2016 were analysed. As a result, knowledge was gained on how readers evaluate their message. Moreover, the question was answered as to which of the public, economic, and private spheres of young peo­ple’s lives the editors emphasize most distinctly, as well as which categories assigned to these spheres arouse most emotion among readers.

Abstract The importance of the development of vocational education has been highlighted by the European Commission through the communication “Rethinking education” and the one regarding the fight against unemployment among young people. Based on the study of the specialized literature, a number of relevant aspects were identified, regarding the importance of the education and training of the people in relation to the creation of new successful business models but also the importance of studying the profile, attitude and perception of future employees (Generation Z). In Brașov county, Romania, the dual education system was implemented in 2012 and since that moment, the number of both students enrolled and schools grew. This article will show the results of a study case made on the dual system school on tourism, obtained through a questionnaire addressed to students that are participating in dual training, to reveal their perception on this education system. This scientific approach aims to highlight the pros and cons according to the perception of the next employees. Most young people have problems finding their first job, and the practice in business units, specific to the dual education system, can prove to be very attractive to both them and the employers. The importance of the subject in this article derives from both the actuality and the importance of this problem, as well as the fact that in many countries, the system of dual education is relatively “young”.

These quasi-experiment research aims to identify any effect of music activities as media to reduce stress hassle on the subject which attend in the choir group. The musical repertoire which was used was the pop genre which technically did not have much complexities and the lyric straightforward to understand. Hassle stress is a stressor that involves minor everyday events such as traffic jam, activities of queuing, forgetfulness in putting the things, or turmoil. Manipulation or treatment treated to the subject as a member of the choir is totally N=10. The treatment was the singing rehearsal. The tools for collecting data were a questioner of self-report which contained questions and QRMA (Quantum Resonance Magnetic Analyzer) measurement which also focused on group discussion. The result shows that there is an effect of musical activities as media for reducing the stress hassle and promoting the previous research results. Some analysis shows that there should be an experiment with a different musical repertoire because a difference genre needs a different skill and there should be a necessity to measure a physical condition more accurately by QRMA to all participants.

The article dwells upon the analysis of political and ideological self-identifications of the Ukrainian students as the subject of politics; the interdependence of these processes and formation of future professionals’ interest in politics; relevant civil position; certain political attitudes and actions. Article is based on the research results conducted among the Ukrainian students by staff of Sociology department of the V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University in 2001-2002 and 2008-2009. The analysis of political and ideological self-identifications dynamics of the students suggests that the project of building an independent national state based on democratic principles, actualized in the minds of young people the national-democratic ideological values; at the same time the increasing number of supporters of the left direction can testify about the growth of social discontent and, accordingly, the protest potential of students.

The objective of this research was to find the digital profile that MSMEs need in generation z, for their work immersion in industry 4.0. The main contribution was to identify the digital profiles that are required in MSMEs, preparing a description of what youn people of generation Z are like today and what are their possibilities of immersion in industry 4.0. The methodology used was qualitative though focus groups to entrepreneurs and young people of generation z. The dimensions used were taken from the theory of García Ávila (2017) and Epstein, Nisbet and Gillespie (2011). Five dimensions were worked on and an interpretation was made through hermeneutics and with a comparative analysis of interpretation, polarization and word cloud to from the research results. In the analysis obtained, it was noted that there is a new awareness of the use of technology despite the real failures of the country's telecommunications. The digital use of generation z is imminent, but its resources and use are not adequate for a proper work immersion. In general, there is a lack of total planning in the use of technologies and their potential.

The article discusses the link of collective moral responsibility with “I” as an act of the realization of subjectness. The authors provide and verify the thesis about the primacy of “I” to any forms and cases of collective responsibility. The notion of “I” is reexamined taking into account the critique of the subject undertaken in the so-called “post-metaphysical” (J.Habermas) philosophy. The key point of this critique is the rejection of the understanding of “I” and of the subject as unchanging metaphysical entities. In this situation, it is of paramount importance to distinguish the dynamic core of “I”, which is free from any metaphysical connotation. In addressing this issue, the authors build on the concept of “I” as a responsible act (deed) as presented in works of Mikhail Bakhtin. According to this concept, “I” does not precede the act but is born in the actual responsible act in the face of an Other. This action turns out to be devoid of content here and is interpreted as an act of accepting responsibility in the face of the Absolute instance. Such an interpretation of “I” makes it possible to retain the possibility of a responsible act within the growing anonymity of a contemporary social being and to substantiate manifestations of collective responsibility in collective actions. The final part of the article lists the basic features that characterize the link of “I” as an act and collective responsibility. Of these features, the main one is associated with the impossibility of “external” vesting of responsibility to anyone due to his/her belonging to a certain community. Collective responsibility may be recognized only in the “inner” dimension of a personal act. Hence follows a fundamental asymmetry that characterizes the phenomenon of responsibility in general and collective responsibility in particular.

The general objective of this study is to analyze the postulate of the ethics of otherness as the first philosophy, presented by Emmanuel Levinas. It is a proposal that runs through Levinas' thinking from his theoretical foundations, to his philosophical criticism. Levinas' thought presents itself as a new thought, as a critique of ontology and transcendental philosophy. For him, the concern with knowledge and with being made the other to be forgotten, placing the other in totality. Levinas proposes the ethics of otherness as sensitivity to the other. The subject says here I am, making myself responsible for the other in an infinite way, in a transcendence without return to myself, becoming hostage to the other, as an irrefutable responsibility. The idea of the infinite, present in the face of the other, points to a responsibility whoever more assumes himself, the more one is responsible, until the substitution by other.

A Rhetorics of the Word is the second volume of a three-part philosophy of Christian life. It approaches Christian life as expressive of a divine calling or vocation. The word Church (ekklesia) and the role of naming in baptism indicate the fundamental place of calling in Christian life. However, ideas of vocation are difficult to access in a world shaped by the experience of disenchantment. The difficulties of articulating vocation are explored with reference to Weber, Heidegger, and Kierkegaard. These are further connected to a general crisis of language, manifesting in the degradation of political discourse (Arendt) and the impact of new communications technology on human discourse. This impact can be seen as reinforcing an occlusion of language in favour of rationality already evidenced in the philosophical tradition and technocratic management. New possibilities for thinking vocation are pursued through the biblical prophets (with emphasis on Buber’s and Rosenzweig’s reinterpretation of the call of Moses), Saint John, and Russian philosophies of language (Florensky to Bakhtin). Vocation emerges as bound up with the possibility of being name-bearers, enabling a mutuality of call and response. This is then evidenced further in ethics and poetics, where Levinas and Hermann Broch (The Death of Virgil) become major points of reference. In conclusion, the themes of calling and the name are seen to shape the possibility of love—the subject of the final part of the philosophy of Christian life: A Metaphysics of Love.

AbstractIdentity as traditionally conceived in mainstream Western thought is focused on theory, representation, knowledge, subjectivity and is centrally important in the works of Emmanuel Levinas. His critique of Western culture and corresponding notion of identity at its foundations typically raises the question of the other. Alterity in Levinas indicates existence of something on its own account, in itself independently of the subject’s will or consciousness. The objectivity of alterity tells of the impossible evasion of signs from their destiny, which is the other. The implications involved in reading the signs of the other have contributed to reorienting semiotics in the direction of semioethics. In Levinas, the I-other relation is not reducible to abstract cognitive terms, to intellectual synthesis, to the subject-object relation, but rather tells of involvement among singularities whose distinctive feature is alterity, absolute alterity. Humanism of the other is a pivotal concept in Levinas overturning the sense of Western reason. It asserts human duties over human rights. Humanism of alterity privileges encounter with the other, responsibility for the other, over tendencies of the centripetal and egocentric orders that instead exclude the other. Responsibility allows for neither rest nor peace. The “properly human” is given in the capacity for absolute otherness, unlimited responsibility, dialogical intercorporeity among differences non-indifferent to each other, it tells of the condition of vulnerability before the other, exposition to the other. The State and its laws limit responsibility for the other. Levinas signals an essential contradiction between the primordial ethical orientation and the legal order. Justice involves comparing incomparables, comparison among singularities outside identity. Consequently, justice places limitations on responsibility, on unlimited responsibility which at the same time it presupposes as its very condition of possibility.
