Редакция «Исторического вестника» обратилась ко мне с предложением опубликовать на страницах своего специального номера, материал посвященный мемуарной проблематике. Считая, что для читателей журнала будут иметь значение воспоминания о работе редакций исторических журналов нашей страны, предлагаю свои заметки. События, о которых пойдет речь в данном очерке, происходили в 70–80-х гг. прошлого века и отстают от нас сегодняшних уже на 35–50 лет. Многие мои учителя и старшие коллеги, к сожалению, уже ушли от нас в мир иной… Кардинально изменилось и продолжает меняться в жизни редакций периодических исторических изданий очень и очень многое. Некоторые явления и процессы, поступки участников тех событий трудно даже и представить современному молодому читателю… Тем не менее автор считает своим долгом историка воссоздавать картину прошлого, не приукрашивая и ничего не замалчивая, а также по возможности сохранить историческую память о тех своих учителях и коллегах, с которыми свела его судьба. Смею надеяться, что мои скромные усилия добавят некоторые живые штрихи к Вечной памяти об этих людях, хранящейся в десятках и даже в сотнях книжек журнала «История СССР», стоящих на полках библиотек в самых разных уголках мира. The editorial board of the Historical Reporter suggested that I should publish some memoirs for the special edition of the magazine. Believing that the magazine's readers might be interested in how the editorial boards of history magazines operated in our country in the past, I decided to publish my notes. The events described in this piece took place in the 1970s–1980s, i.e. 35–50 years ago. A lot of my mentors and older colleagues have unfortunately passed away… A lot has changed and continues to change in how the editorial staff of history magazines operates. Younger readers might find it nearly impossible to imagine some of the processes, phenomena, and actions that happened in those days... Nevertheless, I believe it is my duty as a historian to relay the past as it happened, without embellishing or holding back anything, as well as to talk about my mentors and colleagues that I got to work with. It is my earnest hope that my humble work will bring to life the people behind the hundreds of the History of the USSR issues sitting on library shelves all over the world.

Abstract The Valdemar field, located in the Danish sector of the North Sea, targets a Lower Cretaceous, "dirty chalk" reservoir characterized by low permeabilities of <0.5mD, high porosities of >20% and contains up to 25% insoluble fines. To produce economically the reservoir must be stimulated. Typically, this is by means of hydraulic fracturing. A traditional propped fracture consists of 500,000 to 1,000,000 lbs of 20/40 sand, placed using a crosslinked seawater-based borate fluid. The existing wells in the field are completed using the PSI (perforate, isolate, stimulate)1 system. This system was developed in the late 1980s as a way of improving completion times allowing each interval to be perforated, stimulated and isolated in a single trip and has been used extensively in the Danish North Sea in a variety of fields. The system consists of multiset packers with sliding sleeves and typically takes 2-3 days between the start of one fracture to the next. Future developments in this area now require a new, novel and more efficient approach owing to new target reservoir being of a thinner and poorer quality. In order for these new developments to be economical an approach was required to allow for longer wells to be drilled and completed allowing better reservoir connectivity whilst at the same time reducing the completion time, and therefore rig time and overall cost. A project team was put together to develop a system that could be used in an offshore environment that would satisfy the above criteria, allowing wells to be drilled out to 21,000ft and beyond in excess of coiled tubing reach. The technology developed consists of cemented frac sleeves, operated with jointed pipe, allowing multiple zones to be stimulated in one trip, as well as utilizing a modified BHA that allows for the treatments to take place through the tubing, bringing numerous benefits. The following paper details the reasons for developing the new technology, the development process itself, the challenges that had to be overcome and a case history on the execution of the first job of its kind in the North Sea, in which over 7MM lbs of sand was pumped successfully, as well as the post treatment operations which included a proof of concept in utilizing a tractor to manipulate the sleeves. Finally, the production performance will be discussed supported by the use of tracer subs at each of the zones.

Abstract: Health on of the key aspects of any human’s life and one needs to keep up good health to make progress in life. We see most of the people facing health issues during different times during their life and it is their first job as an individual to keep up their health. As weare already seeing the novel coronavirus has devastated the world for the past few months and continues to do so. We see many cases like people living in distant villages and towns where there are no proper medical facilities to have a health check-up once in a while, they need to travel long distances to get a basic health checkup done. Especially the old people who cannot travel much due to their age. A human's health can be carefully monitored and a reasonable outcome can be predicted to avoid unfortunate deaths or misfortunate occurrences by measuring temperature, sp02, or pulse and Strain upon the muscles. These factors are being collected by various devices, but have never been classified and carefully monitored for anomalies. So this system is the best option to counter the situation as it collects data and stores it in the webserver and also gives alerts. Keywords: Health, Sensors, Internet of things

The results of the exploration of tracer study data can be used as information about the career of graduates and the relevance of work to the field of study as well as the competencies obtained before graduation. The question items discussed were a description of the time and process of looking for a job, the length of time to get the first job, the relationship between length of study, gender, field of work, total income, alumni's perception of the closeness of the field of study to work, the suitability of the level of education on the job, and average level of competence. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between these variables in the 2020 tracer study data from graduates of all faculties at Sriwijaya University. Respondents studied were 2,669 people. The method used is descriptive statistics, biplot analysis, independence test and plots by simple correspondence analysis. Respondents' perceptions of the suitability of the level of education in employment are related to gender and also with respondents' perceptions of the closeness of the field of study to the field of work. Meanwhile, respondents' perceptions of the closeness of the field of study with work are related to the field of work. The average length of study, the average number of job applications, the number of companies or agencies that responded to applications, and invited interviews for female respondents were lower than male respondents.

Many previous studies found that there was dissatisfaction with graduate users with the competencies possessed by Accounting graduates. Importantly, Accounting graduates must prepare themselves for various competencies needed in the world of work. This purpose of this study is to examine whether there is a competency gap faced by the graduates of Accounting Department of the Padang State Polytechnic while performing their first job. This study uses a quantitative method. Sample selected purposively on the alumni of D-IV 4 Accounting at the Padang State Polytechnic with 54 respondents that had worked after graduation. The data analysis technique in this study used the sign test and the Mann-Whitney U test. The results show that there is a competency gap faced by alumni in the attributes of technical and IT skills except in presenting financial reports, planning and conducting audits, implementing internal controls, measuring company performance, using Office, accounting software and social media. There is also no difference found in competency level between graduates of 2019 and 2020.

This study presents the experiences of current science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) Ph.D. students and alumni with respect to professional development opportunities in their Ph.D. training. Specifically, it investigates if and how the Ph.D. training supports graduates to pursue non-academic and non-R&D roles, which have become increasingly common career paths post-graduation. A mixed-methods questionnaire was developed to obtain quantitative and qualitative data regarding the graduate school experiences of current Ph.D. students and recent Ph.D. graduates pursuing diverse career paths. The study investigates the values, needs, and conceptions of professional development from the student perspective, as well as the contributions of peers and mentors in graduate school towards their professional development. Experiences of Ph.D. alumni are used to identify the barriers for transitioning to the first job post-graduation and to provide an assessment of the current professional development opportunities in Ph.D. programs. It is reported that although Ph.D. training allowed alumni to develop a robust skillset that includes research, teaching, and scientific writing; some common barriers associated with obtaining a job post-graduation were lack of awareness about career options, limited or no professional networks outside academia, and a lack of preparation and support for non-academic job transitions. Through analyzing the student perspective on various aspects of professional development, the study identifies gaps and avenues for improvement for professional development in Ph.D. training, including increased awareness of diverse career paths for STEM PhDs, increased networking opportunities for PhD students with sectors outside academia, embedding professional development in the PhD curriculum, and others; so that programs can support students in entering the labor market in a variety of careers that extend beyond academia and traditional R&D jobs, using interventions that resonate with the students and meet their needs.

Abstract Work history is associated with long term health outcomes We hypothesize that characteristics of the first work experience, such as age at first job and length of work (hereafter job) are associated with future risk of hospitalization. We further hypothesize that the length of work will be associated with hospitalization. We conducted a survey of adults >60 years using a nested case-control approach within the Mayo Clinic Biobank. We collected job related variables including age at job start, reason for ending, and length of time. To test associations between each variable and hospitalization, we used age and gender adjusted logistic regression models. Our study included 4,024 subjects: 1,801 cases and 2223 controls. The mean age at time of match was 77.3 years (SD 7.2 years) with 49.2% males. Older age at the first full-time job was associated with lower chance of hospitalization later in life (OR=0.81 [0.67, 0.97] for those who started the job over 22 compared to those started at 18 or less). Cases were more likely to have stopped working because of illness (OR=2.04 [95% CI 1.29,3.27]). Cases were less likely to have stopped working because of retirement (OR=0.82 [95% CI: 0.72, 0.93]). We found cases were employed with a slightly shorter time (20.5 yrs. (SD 16.6)) compared to controls (21.8 yrs. (SD 16.3)) (p=0.005). Cases started work earlier and stopped work more frequently because of illness/disability compared to controls. This could reflect educational attainment in controls. This study highlights work history as potential predictor of future hospitalization.

This study analyzes the influence of mental and physical health, coping abilities, cooperativeness, and work commitment on the transition from apprenticeship training to a first job. In doing so, we first investigate transitions to regular employment within six months post-graduation. Second, we analyze gapless transitions from training to a first job. Third, we investigate transitions to a decent first job. This study draws on a unique dataset of 1,061 individuals from Germany that combines rich survey and register data. The baseline survey takes place during the last year of training for these individuals and contains information on their schooling, health, personality disorders and work attitudes. The register data measure the training environment and labor market outcomes. The results from linear probability models reveal that only physical health is associated with finding a first job within six months. Physical and mental health are associated with gapless transitions. Overall health, coping abilities and work commitment are important in terms of finding decent employment. However, when conditioning on individual and training firm characteristics, these associations are weakened and become statistically insignificant. Thus, the constructs under study might drive school graduates into certain training firms and occupations leading to decent first jobs. Fourth, our results indicate that the effect of overall health on gapless transitions is largest for individuals with higher levels of education, while the overall health effect is almost zero for those who are least educated. Thus, this study provides evidence of a cumulative disadvantage of the least educated in the school-to-work transition.
