The knowledge of university students regarding the use of toxic substances, daily and eating habits with a carcinogenic character was assessed by using a semi-structured questionnaire. In addition, a systematic review was carried out on an electronic basis on the subject. The results revealed that university students know little about the risks and association of high consumption of hyperglycemic foods, omega-6 and red meat, as well as the exposure to BPA and insecticides, despite the fact that most are aware of the harmful effects of excessive use of cell phones and its relation with cancer. Thus, we notice the importance of disseminating preventive information that promotes a change in living and eating habits with carcinogenic character, resulting in self-care and a better quality of life.

Chocolate has a number of extremely appealing sensory qualities, and often are given by patients to those working in hospital wards as a token of their gratitude. This study examines whether this has any harmful effects. Eighty nine qualified nurses, 21 ward assistants, and 18 nursing students completed a structured questionnaire, showing that on average 5.4 chocolates were eaten each day. About 2/3 of the recipients ate 1–5 chocolates a day, while a few (3% ) ate more than 20 per day. The most common reason given for eating them was simply because they were there. However, a quarter felt that a healthier alternative would be an adequate alternative gift. Around a third of those surveyed felt that the chocolates had a detrimental effect on their well-being. It is unlikely that chocolates will ever be scarce on hospital wards because there is a never-ending supply from grateful patients. Consequently, it will be difficult to restructure the chocolate-eating habits of those working on hospital wards.

AbstractTo promote the holistic development of university students under the knowledge economy, a subject entitled “Service Leadership” was developed and piloted at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Process evaluation was carried out for 10 lectures, with each lecture observed by two independent observers who were registered social workers. Inter-rater reliability across the two observers was high, suggesting the observations were reliable. Results showed that program adherence was high in these lectures (mean=97.8%) and ratings on the implementation quality of the subject were also high. Some of the qualities of program implementation were significant predictors of the overall quality and success of the program. Consistent with other findings, the present study suggests that the implementation quality of “Service Leadership” was high.

The improvement of quality of life in urban environments can occur through afforestation, which contributes to air purification, improvement of the city's climate by retaining soil and air moisture, by generating shadow, preventing solar rays from affecting directly on people. The aim of this research was to evaluate the positive and negative environmental impacts of urban arborization through the report of residents of the municipality of Ibateguara-AL. Thus, a semi-structured questionnaire was applied with fifteen questions about Arborization, Totaling 50 completed questionnaires. Through the results obtained, it was possible to observe that the residents, have empirical knowledge on the subject, where arborization is associated only with trees and shade, yet do not possess adequate knowledge about all the benefits of afforestation For its maintenance. These data reinforce the need for planning the afforestation of the municipality, with the implementation of an environmental education project, seeking to raise awareness of the population of its importance.

Food choices for adopting a healthy lifestyle are influenced by a set of factors. Early adulthood and university entry are crucial for the development of eating habits that will be decisive in quality of life. In Portugal, there are few studies that assess the nutritional status of university students. The main objective of this study, as a pilot study, was to characterize the dietary habits of university students at Universidade Lusófona in Lisbon, Portugal. This cross-sectional descriptive study included university students, aged between 18 and 28 years old. Anthropometric data were collected, and body mass index was calculated. The dietary habits were assessed through a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire, administered directly. The average daily intake values were: energy, 2282.9 ± 954.0 kcal, 243.2 g of carbohydrates, 114.2 g of proteins, and 100.9 g of lipids. These values include a protein intake of 25.40%, 52.11% carbohydrate and 22.47% lipids. It was concluded that there is an increase in protein and lipid intake in samples from the university students evaluated.

Do cell phones cause brain cancer? Does BPA threaten our health? How safe are certain dietary supplements, especially those containing exotic herbs or small amounts of toxic substances? Is the HPV vaccine safe? We depend on science and medicine as never before, yet there is widespread misinformation and confusion, amplified by the media, regarding what influences our health. In Getting Risk Right, Geoffrey C. Kabat shows how science works—and sometimes doesn't—and what separates these two very different outcomes. Kabat seeks to help us distinguish between claims that are supported by solid science and those that are the result of poorly designed or misinterpreted studies. By exploring different examples, he explains why certain risks are worth worrying about, while others are not. He emphasizes the variable quality of research in contested areas of health risks, as well as the professional, political, and methodological factors that can distort the research process. Drawing on recent systematic critiques of biomedical research and on insights from behavioral psychology, Getting Risk Right examines factors both internal and external to the science that can influence what results get attention and how questionable results can be used to support a particular narrative concerning an alleged public health threat. In this book, Kabat provides a much-needed antidote to what has been called “an epidemic of false claims.”

The object of the study is the information system for the formation of the student's electronic portfolio. The subject of the research is the organization of the differentiation of access rights for different groups of users: students, portfolio moderators and administrators. The rights, functions and interface of each user group of the information system are considered in detail. A mechanism is described that allows the Siberian State Industrial University Portfolio information system to define a new right for LMS Moodle, which gives the Moodle user the ability to view all categories of files in the portfolio, as well as a report on the group's activities. When creating an information system, the deduction method was used, in which, for a variety of particular features, a conclusion was made about the total population of the features studied, as well as a method for analyzing the existing 4portfolio software. The main result of the work is the implementation of differentiation of access rights in the information system “Siberian State Industrial University Portfolio”, due to which the plugin defines three roles: the user, the moderator of the portfolio and the administrator. The users are university students who can upload documents to the portfolio confirming personal achievements in various activities, and each of their actions is controlled by a moderator assigned to the group, which improves the quality of filling and avoids errors in the formation of the portfolio. To control the process of filling the portfolio in the information system "Siberian State Industrial University Portfolio" reports of various levels of detail are generated, reflecting the results of the work of both moderators and users. To realize the possibility of viewing the contents of a student portfolio by registered users of LMS Moodle, the Siberian State Industrial University Portfolio information system defines a new right in LMS Moodle.

Objective: To survey in the literature the role of the nurse in the care of people with urinary incontinence (UI). Methods: Integrative literature review from the publications within the period of 2013 in the databases: BDENF, LILACS, Web of Science, PubMed and SciELO, in the Portuguese, English and Spanish languages. The sample consisted of 11 publications, most of them in English. Results: The data were categorized into three dimensions of care: educational (three articles), care (eight articles) and management (an article, which was also categorized as care). Educational: although nurses presented superficial and incomplete knowledge about incontinence, playful strategies were used for teaching. Assistance: the use of superabsorbent diapers and pads, 3% dimethicone impregnated wipes, spray for the formation of polymer film for incontinence-associated dermatitis, pelvic musculature, urethral massage, bladder training, and eating habits modification were recommended. Gerencial: the quality of nursing care for the elderly with UI was evaluated through protocols, standards and Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs). Conclusion: There is a shortage of studies on the subject and it was evidenced that the nurse assumes an assistance role in urinary incontinence, although its knowledge is incipient.

Background: Milk adulteration has become a serious concern. Some of the adulterants in milk have serious adverse health effects. This study was designed to assess consumer awareness about milk and determine formalin and melamine in milk. Methods: The study involved a laboratory-based investigation and a survey was conducted to assess consumer awareness about milk adulteration from January 2018 to June 2018. Total 10 samples were collected from local market purposively. 2 adulteration tests were conducted to detect formalin and melamine in samples. 10 brands of milk from 8 companies were collected from different markets of Savar and tested at BCSIR as per Bangladesh Standards. On the other hand; a survey was conducted to assess consumer awareness about milk adulteration. A pre tested semi structured questionnaire, was used to collect the information. Statistical analysis was done by using Excel. Results: We found the concentration of formaldehyde and melamine in all 10 analyzed products below the level of detection. The majority (55.9%) of the respondents knew that there is a law in the country that deals with milk adulteration; among them 41.7% thought that the reduced mobile court activity is reason for unchanged milk adulteration situation and insufficient penalty is also a major factor (45%). Only (55.9%) respondents consider water is main milk adulterant and 31.8% know about Chemicals. The majority of the respondents 87.8% strongly agreed that milk adulteration has harmful effects on health. Conclusions: These findings may be helpful for the concerned government regulatory bodies to monitor the quality of the commercial milk in the market.
