As a production system, organic agriculture is linked to less intensive practices. Therefore, its main mission is to produce much more ecological products and services than conventional agriculture. It does not use potentially harmful technologies technological approaches and inputs of intensive agriculture, as are pesticides, synthetic nitrogen fertilizers, GMO crops or veterinary and anthelmintic antibiotics, thus reducing environmental and health risks. Consumption of organic products has been increased in last couple decades in Romania. The main paper goal is to analyse the consumers' attitudes toward the organic products, primarily agri-food products, as well as their buying motives and satisfaction with the existing offer in the national market. Used methodological framework contains an online survey conducted in the first half of 2020. Among achieved results next has been underlined that majority of respondents consume organic products so often. Their first choice is organic vegetable products, followed by organic animal products and in some cases organic cosmetics.

Community-supported agriculture (CSA) operators are becoming more innovative in their efforts to attract consumers to become CSA shareholders. Therefore, CSA operators must understand which attributes consumers value. Using an online survey of Connecticut consumers in conjunction with a choice experiment, we evaluate consumer preference and willingness to pay for various attributes, including risk mitigation. We find younger consumers are more likely to prefer CSAs with organic products, while a greater diversity of products in the CSA share will increase preference for a CSA for some consumers. Further, we find that consumers with and without CSA experience value the risk-mitigation attribute.

This article analyses the competitiveness of India’s agricultural products in world markets. Four indices of revealed comparative advantage (RCA) were used at the four-digit level of harmonized system (HS) of classification for the period of 1996–2015. Under live animal products, 7 out of 26 products showed RCA. For vegetable products, 21 out of 58 showed strong RCA. For products like animal or vegetable fat and prepared foodstuff, 2 out of 16 and 9 out of 49 showed RCA, respectively. Further, the consistency tests reveal that the indices are less satisfactory as the cardinal and dichotomous measures but relatively satisfactory as ordinal measure. Hence, study would propose an ordinal interpretation of RCAs indices for better policy formulation. The study has also found the pattern of RCA indices to be fairly stable over the years. Laburpena: Ikerketa honek profesionalek, gaur egun, beren lanpostuan nola ikasten duten aztertzen du, bi jarduera-eremu alderatuta: Justizia Saila eta Kataluniako Gizarte Zerbitzuak. Ikuspegi misto eta sekuentzial batetik, aurrez aurreko 45 elkarrizketa egin ditugu, guztira, eta profesional batzuei onlineko galdetegi bat ezarri zaie, eta, horretatik, 73 erantzun jaso ditugu. Jaso ditugun emaitzek erakusten dituzte sailen arteko koinzidentziak, eta nabarmenenak honakoetan gertatzen dira: ikasteko estrategiak edo mekanismoak erabiltzean, ikaskideei kontsultatzean, sareko lanean eta prestakuntza-modalitatean. Nolanahi ere, harreman eta eztabaida profesionaleko jardueretarako, aurrez aurreko prestakuntza gehiago baloratzen da, oraindik, besteak baino. Abstract Context.—Recent changes in pathology residency education have included a decrease in the program length (from 5 years to 4 years for combined anatomic and clinical pathology training) and a national mandate for programs to assess 6 general competencies of trainees. These have undoubtedly led to changes in program curricula and in residents' desires to seek fellowship training. Objective.—This study was designed to gather information about what residents are seeking from fellowship training programs. Design.—This study used an online survey to assess attitudes of residents in training programs toward fellowship training. The survey instrument had 26 questions pertaining to fellowship choices, motivations for pursuing fellowships, expectations of the fellowships, and postresidency concerns. Results.—There were 213 respondents from a mix of program types and representing each postgraduate year. Most residents will seek at least 1 or 2 fellowships after residency training. The most popular first-choice fellowship was surgical pathology (26%), followed by cytopathology (16%), hematopathology (15%), gastrointestinal pathology (10%), dermatopathology (8%), and forensic pathology (5%). The most common reasons for pursuing fellowship training were to “increase marketability” (43%) or to “become an expert in a particular area” (33%). Most trainees got their information about fellowship training programs from Internet sources. Conclusions.—Fellowship programs will benefit from an optimally designed Web site because residents seek information predominantly from the Internet. Residents seeking fellowships are particularly concerned with selecting programs that provide job connections, an increase in their marketability, and the opportunity to develop diagnostic expertise.

Abstract. Background: To prevent postoperative infection the use of systemic antibiotic prophylaxis is common ground. Type of antibiotic used and duration of prophylaxis are subject to debate. In case of suspected early periprosthetic infection a debridement, antibiotics and implant retention (DAIR) procedure is treatment of first choice. This study evaluated the antibiotic prophylaxis and DAIR treatment protocols nationwide as well as reporting of these DAIR procedures to the national joint registry. Methods: All institutions that performed total hip or knee arthroplasty were contacted to complete a 16-question online survey. Questions included availability of a protocol, type and duration of antibiotic prophylaxis used and tendency to register infectious complications in the Dutch Arthroplasty Register. Results: All ninety-nine consulted institutions responded to this survey. All but one institutions have a standardized hospital based protocol for antibiotic prophylaxis in primary total hip or knee arthroplasty. Cefazolin was antibiotic prophylaxis of choice in ninety-four institutions for both primary hip and knee arthroplasty. In ten institutions one preoperative gift of antibiotic prophylaxis was administered. A protocol describing treatment when suspecting early periprosthetic joint infection was present in seventy-one institutions. When performing a DAIR procedure modular parts were exchanged in seventy institutions in case of a hip prosthesis and in eighty-one institutions in case of a knee prosthesis. Sixty-three institutions register DAIR procedures in the Dutch Arthroplasty Register.Interpretation: In contradiction to the results of a recent study in Great Britain, we have found only little variety in availability of protocols and in the type of antibiotic used as prophylaxis in primary total hip and knee arthroplasty in The Netherlands. Not every institution has a protocol for treatment in suspicion of early infection. Although mobile parts are exchanged in the majority of cases, there appears to be an underreporting of DAIR procedures in the Dutch Arthroplasty Register.

The main objective of this study was to determine the behavior of the Polish consumer of organic products during the COVID-19 pandemic and to identify preferred channels of distribution of organic products in the situation of restricted freedom of movement as well as to assess what information displayed on the labels of organic food was most important to the customer. The research was conducted on a sample of 1108 respondents with the use of CAWI technique collected in an online survey carried out in February–August 2020. To analyze the obtained results, cluster analysis, linear regression model and duplication method were used to verify the substitute channels for purchasing organic goods. The pandemic has intensified the health value of consumers when making decisions about choosing food products. Consumers are sensitive shoppers who read the content of the labels and pay attention to the ingredients of the products they buy. The price is also of significant importance for consumers; however, it is less important than, for example, the expiration date of the purchased product. With the use of PCA analysis, it was possible to identify 18 factors that could be divided into three segments: marketing, practical and sensory. The proposed factors, according to the respondents, had an effect on the purchase of organic products by Polish consumers. Regarding the preferred purchasing channels, the Internet is becoming more and more important. Almost one-quarter of the respondents confirmed that they bought organic products via the above-mentioned distribution channel. Nearly 17% of the surveyed consumers considered the Internet to be an alternative way of doing their shopping. The results obtained in the research can be used in the sector of organic food producers to design marketing strategies and to adapt their offer to the proposed four groups of purchasers of organic products: eco-activists, eco-dietitians, eco-traditionalists, eco-innovators.

Problem and goal. The purpose of the study was to conduct a comparative veterinary and sanitary toxicological assessment of the products of the agro-industrial complex in terms of the content of nitrates. Methodology. The article deals with the method of determining the content of nitrates using a portable nitrate tester in order to monitor and establish the veterinary, sanitary and toxicological safety of plant food products for the population. The object of research was the plant products of the agro-industrial complex. The research was conducted in the conditions of the Department of Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise, Obstetrics, Surgery and Internal Diseases of Animals of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "Ryazan State Agrotechnological University named after P. A. Kostychev" in 2015-2020 in the laboratory of "Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology". Results. The work presents a comparative quantitative assessment of the indicators of the content of nitrates in vegetable products of vegetables and fruits in diferent regions of the region. Installed slight excess of 135 mg/kg to 80 mg/kg concentrations of nitrate in Luque; in the potato, the nitrate level is set at the upper normal limit of 250 mg/kg; in the lemon were found above the level of nitrates in 2 times in comparison with the norm MAC. The increased content of these substances, which is found in plant products, creates a risk of poisoning animals and humans. Conclusion. Thus, the veterinary and sanitary toxicological assessment contributes to the timely control of the level of nitrates in crop products, which in turn allows timely measures to prevent products with a high content of nitrogenous compounds from being sold to the population. It is possible and necessary to reduce the level of accumulation of nitrates as a natural compound. To this end, we recommend that when growing all crops, strictly observe the maximum permissible standards for the application of nitrogen fertilizers, which guarantee the production of" environmentally friendly " products and exclude environmental pollution.

Global market data indicates that pet food is on the rise, with a projection to occupy a high percentage of the mar- ket for animal products by the year 2021. Given the need for more research related to the pet-human bond from a consumer behavior perspective and the lack of knowledge related to the organic food market for pets, specifically in Medellín (Colombia), this quantitative research explores the acceptance of these products in the city. It also seeks to explore the attitudes and purchase intention towards this type of food and its relation with the humanization of pets. The online survey collected 150 responses of consumers between 18 and 65 years of age, belonging to medium and high socioeconomic levels (4, 5 and 6) in the city. Findings indicate that women have the most positive attitudes towards organic food for pets. More positive attitudes towards this type of food lead to a greater purchase intention. Regarding the level of humanization of pets, there are no significant differences among respondents. The study con- tributes to the understanding of this type of food market in the capital of Antioquia.
