The contributions of individuals towards a nation’s development cannot be underestimated. Nevertheless, research has proven that gender roles could create some setbacks to the extent that some individuals may not be able to reach the optimum in higher education. This correlational study explored whether the interplay of some female gender roles affected persistence as female students juggled with studies. A total of 21 study centres with female enrolment of a 100 and above were purposively selected. Using simple random sampling, a sample of 441 female students were drawn from two distance education institutions in Ghana. The study employed the correlational research design. A questionnaire was used to collect data and analysed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. It was revealed that female students had family roles they performed. The study found that there was a positive correlation between persistence and familial roles among the participants. This implied that as the level of familial roles of the respondents increased, their persistence increased as well, thus revealing some level of resilience towards the progression of their education. It was therefore recommended that administrators of distance education institutions equipped female students with the needed knowledge and support to ensure the effective management of their familial roles.

This was a correlational research with two predictors and one criterion. 103 students (both successful and unsuccessful male and female students) were involved in this research. The data obtained through SILL by Oxford (1990) and students’ English achievement based on gender were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics through SPSS program version 20.0. The findings, first of all showed that there was a significant correlation between gender and English achievement where r = 0.924 and p = 0.000 = 0.05. Second, there was not any significant correlation between LLSs and English achievement where r = 0.202 and p = 0.083 < = 0.05. Third, there was not any significant correlation between successful gender and their LLSs where r = 0.222 and p = 0.056 > = 0.05 but there was a significant correlation between unsuccessful gender and their LLSs where r = - 0.376 and p = 0.049 < = 0.05. Fourth, There was a significant correlation between gender and LLSs used simultaneously with English achievement where r = 0.264 and p = 0.04 < = 0.05.

This study was tailored to investigate the implementation of instructional supervision and its relationship with teachers’ performance in public secondary schools in Nandi North Sub County. Descriptive-correlational research design was adopted and the Instructional Supervision and teachers’ Performance Questionnaire was used to obtain relevant data from 187 teachers in 15 selected Public Secondary schools using the simple random sampling techniques. Descriptive statistics and Spearman’s rank-order correlation coefficient at 0.05 level of significance were used to determine the data generated and answer the research questions. The study reveals that the extent of implementation of instructional supervision in lesson preparation, preparation of assessment materials, lesson implementation and innovation and creativity was good. There is no significant relationship between instructional supervision in lesson preparation (rho=.679), preparation of assessment materials (rho=.072), innovation and creativity in teaching (rho=.627) and teachers’ performance based on TPAD scores. There is a significant inverse and weak relationship between teachers’ performance based on TPAD scores and instructional supervision in lesson implementation (rho = -0.152, p = .038 < .05). It is therefore recommended that the Principals should continue executing the instructional supervision in order to ensure that teachers maintain their good performance.

In many societies across the globe, females are still underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM fields), although they are reported to have higher grades in high school and college than males. The present study was guided by the assumption that the sustainability of higher education critically rests on the academic success of both male and female students under conditions of equitable educational options, practices, and contents. It first assessed the persistence of familiar patterns of gender bias (e.g., do competencies at enrollment, serving as academic precursors, and academic performance favor females?) in college students of a society in transition from a gender-segregated workforce with marked gender inequalities to one whose aims at integrating into the global economy demand that women pursue once forbidden careers thought to be the exclusive domain of men. It then examined how simple indices of academic readiness, as well as preferences for fields fitting traditional gender roles, could predict attainment of key competencies and motivation to graduate (as measured by the average number of credits completed per year) in college. As expected, females had a higher high school GPA. Once in college, they were underrepresented in a major that fitted traditional gender roles (interior design) and over-represented in one that did not fit (business). Female students’ performance and motivation to graduate did not differ between the male-suited major of business and the female-suited major of interior design. Male students’ performance and motivation to graduate were higher in engineering than in business, albeit both majors were gender-role consistent. Although high school GPA and English proficiency scores predicted performance and motivation for all, preference for engineering over business also predicted males’ performance and motivation. These findings offered a more complex picture of patterns of gender bias, thereby inspiring the implementation of targeted educational interventions to improve females’ motivation for and enrollment in STEM fields, nowadays increasingly available to them, as well as to enhance males’ academic success in non-STEM fields such as business.

Background: The role of health students in providing information about reproductive health is very important, especially regarding reproductive health rights for women with disabilities. This is crucial to do because women with disabilities are very vulnerable to violence and discrimination, especially in terms of reproductive health. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the influence of knowledge and intention toward behavior of female health students in accessing information on reproductive health rights for women with disabilities. Research Methods: This was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. This study was conducted at the Midwifery Study Program at Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University Malang in October 2020. The sample size was 50 subjects, selected by simple random sampling technique. The dependent variable is the behavior of health female students in accessing information. The independent variables were knowledge and intention in access to information. Data collection using an online questionnaire. The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression. Results: The behavior of health female students in access to information was influenced by knowledge (b= 0.36, CI 95% = 0.12 to 0.60, p= 0.005), and intention in access to information (b= 0.45, CI 95% = 0.10 to 0.80, p= 0.014). Conclusion: Participants with good knowledge and high intention in access to information affect behavior in accessing information.   Keywords:  health students; reproductive health rights; women with disabilities

Background: Everyone would want to enjoy their old age in a healthy condition both physically and spiritually, but the fact is that old age is more synonymous with periods of decline in physical, mental, and human interest. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to Identify the description of understanding the meaning of life from a health perspective for the elderly at the Panti Griya Werdha Jambangan in Surabaya. Methods: This study is a quantitative study with a descriptive design. The population in this study were all the elderly who live in the home for the werdha Jambangan with a total of 60 elderly and the sample used was 56 respondents using simple random sampling. The variable in this study is the understanding of the meaning of life from a health perspective in the elderly. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and presented in a frequency distribution table. Results: The results showed that out of 56 elderly people at the Werdha Jambangan Nursing Home in Surabaya, 73.2% of the respondents were 60-74 years old, 73.2% were female, and most of them 55.4% had an understanding of the meaning of a moderate life. Conclusion: Getting an understanding of the meaning of life requires a long and continuous process. A person who already has an understanding of the meaning of his life will be more prosperous and happier in life.Key words: Understanding the meaning of life, health perspective, elderly

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to identify whether there are differences in self-regulation of emotion skills of male and female students. This study is a comparative study with a sample of 796 students (452 males, 344 females). The sample selection is taken using simple random sampling technique. The instrument used is the scale of self-regulation of emotion. Data analysis used to identify differences in self-regulation of emotion skills of male and female students is independent samples test. The findings of the study indicate that there is a significant difference between the self-regulation of emotion skills of male and female students. This study recommends counseling service to improve self-regulation of emotion skills.Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi apakah terdapat perbedaan self-regulation of emotion antara siswa laki-laki dan perempuan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian komparatif dengan sampel 796 siswa (452 laki-laki, 344 perempuan). Pemilihan sampel diambil menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah skala self-regulation of emotion. Analisis data yang digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan self-regulation of emotion siswa laki-laki dan perempuan adalah independent samples test. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara self-regulation of emotion siswa laki-laki dan perempuan. Studi ini merekomendasikan layanan konseling untuk meningkatkan self-regulation of emotion siswa.

This study aims to analyze the differences and also the relationship between attitudes and self-efficacy of students in science lessons. This research is important because in science lessons the teacher must know the attitudes and self-efficacy of students because they affect the learning process. This type of research is quantitative with comparative type. The number of respondents used as a sample is 74 students. The data collection technique used simple random sampling. The results of the study using the T test were that there were significant differences in the attitudes and self-efficacy of students in science lessons, both female students and male students. The results of the correlation test between students' attitudes and self-efficacy towards science subjects in grade 8A showed that the two variables (attitude and self-efficacy) were related. And the results of the correlation test in class 8B showed that the two variables (attitude and self-efficacy) were related. The urgency of this research is that teachers can find out the differences in attitudes and self-efficacy between male and female students. The novelty of this research compared to previous research is that it uses Attitude and self-efficacy variables, with different indicators from previous research.

This study seeks to examine the relationship between Entrepreneurship practices and the level of profitability among farmers in Jos. The study covered small and medium scale farmer entrepreneurs within Jos North, Jos South and Jos East. A sample size of 518 was obtained from the population of 834 at 5% error tolerance and 95% level of confidence, using Simple Random Sampling. A self-structured questionnaire was used to collect data. 505(97.5%) of the questionnaire distributed were returned. The study conducted a pre-test on the questionnaire to ensure the validity of the instrument. Data collected were presented in descriptive statistics and frequency tables. The study used financial ratios such as the gross profit margin, net profit margin, returns on assets, sales per year and total assets measures were used to measure the profitability. The average values for gross profit margin, net profit margin and returns on assets are 29.47%, 19.2% and 8.2% respectively; the result shows that an individual farmer in this study can boast of a high level of profit. The study recommends among other things that governments at all levels should work to create a more conducive environment for farmer entrepreneurs to make profitable investments in agriculture.

The main intention of the research is to retrospectively decode changes in mainstream construct of female gender roles within the period of ''developed self-management socialism'' (1970s), period of structural crisis of socialism (1980s) and post-socialist period of Serbian/Yugoslav society. The mainstream construct of female gender roles will be reconstruct from Serbian women's magazine 'Bazar''. Through the basic presumptions of theoretical framework the research will try to conceptualize theoretical approach which will correspond with co called 'new communicative research model' which will be capable to incorporate contemporary changes within the process of communication among the emitter and recipients in order to better understand the content of the message.

Internet in the last few decades has revolutionized the world and this revolution has also influenced university students. This study was conducted to explore the relationship between use of online sources and library attendance. By using simple random sampling technique 72 female students from the Department of Sociology, International Islamic university Islamabad were selected as respondents for this study. The data was collected through structured questionnaire. Findings were coded and given quantitative interpretation. The findings indicate that the usage of library has decreased due to the availability of internet facility. Students reported to prefer online sources due to the fact that they are conveniently available without the need to visit the library. Constraints in using the library were also reported. Nevertheless the respondents acknowledged the importance of library and the fact that it gives more authentic knowledge compared to online sources.
