This article is dedicated to the analysis of specificity of using biographical approach in studying the heritage of such prominent representatives of white émigré of the XX century as P. M. Bitsilli, N. A. Hans and S. I. Gessen. The subject of this research is the possibility of using biographical approach in the process of examination of pedagogical thought and education of the white émigré. In the course of analysis of works of the recent years, the authors trace the efficiency of such approach in historical-pedagogical research. The object of this article is the books devoted to as P. M. Bitsilli, N. A. Hans and S. I. Gessen that were published in 2018 – 2000s and represent biographical or theoretical research with a strong biographical component. Leaning on the principles of Interdisciplinarity and complex analysis of scientific and historical-educational process, the biographical method is recognized as fundamental for studying educational space of the white émigré and pedagogical heritage of its representatives. The presented overview of publications allows getting a new perspective on scientific potential of biographical approach personalization of pedagogical history of white émigré, and charting the course for further examination of this phenomenon.

The paper raises the problem of building the communicative competence of academics. Analysis of the theoretical material of the research helps further investigate the process of learning a foreign language by postgraduates within departmental educational milieu and define the foreign-language communicative competence of a research academician. In accordance with the logic of the presented research, the author uses a complex of complementary methods. They are theoretical research (systematic and theoretical analysis, studying the references in Pedagogy and Methodology of teaching a foreign language, comparative analysis of the Russian and foreign experience, considers the peculiarities of the content of research academicians training in a foreign language), pedagogical research (discussion, supervision, interview). The author stresses the necessity to improve the substantive component of foreign language training of the researcher, taking into account the professional orientation, the use of professional terminology by those who are engaged in research activities. That makes them capable of doing interpretation, précis-writing and abstracting scientific papers in English, thus building their foreign-language communicative competence. The author concludes that in the educational process it is advisable to use a manual, an interactive dictionary and a thesaurus for the successful organization of the process of building the foreign-language communicative competence of the research academician. The content of the materials mentioned above should be aimed at forming postgraduates’ readiness to participate in Russian and international research teams and use modern scientific terminology in a foreign language in various international scientific and representative conferences.

In the history of philosophy, Jean-Jacques Rousseau is mainly considered as an atypical philosopher of the Enlightenment, as a pioneer of the revolutionary idea of a free civilian state and natural law; in literary history, he is considered the forerunner of Romanticism, the writer who perfected the form of an epistolary novel, as well as a sentimentalist. However, this paper focuses on the biographical approach, which was mostly excluded in observation of those works revealing Rousseau as the originator of the autobiographical novelistic genre. The subject of this paper is the issue of credibility of self-portraits, and through this problem it highlights the facts from the author?s life. This paper relies on a biographical approach, not in the positivistic sense but in the phenomenological key. This paper is mainly inspired by the works of the Geneva School theorists - Starobinski, Poulet and Rousset.

This article examines the works of A. E. Kulakovsky based on theoretical positions of D. S. Likhachev and practical data from commentaries to the volume II of A. E. Kulakovsky (author P. V. Maksimov), as well as conducts comparative analysis of the early versions with major texts of A. E. Kulakovsky. The subject of this research is the comparative analysis of A. E. Kulakovsky's early publications with major texts. The goal consists in determination and description of the authorial editing and revisions, which allows substantiating their motives for, as well as tracing the evolution of author’s thought. The discrepancies between the texts of early period and major text are viewed as improvements: addition of lines, substitution of separate words, rearrangement lines and stanzas. The novelty of this study consists in substantiation of early publications of A. E. Kulakovsky and lifetime edition as the subject of textological research. From this perspective, early publications of the works of A. E. Kulakovsky's are attributed to as research materials of cross-disciplinary nature: as the testimonies of the stage of establishment of Yakut literature as a whole, and as the variants of writer's major texts that reveal the history of his works in particular. The relevance is defined by the fact that special textological studies of poet’s separate works, including profound examination of historiographical part of his literary heritage, are currently of special significance. Over the past decade, a sizeable corpus of new documents related to A. E. Kulakovsky’s biography, including the unpublished works and scientific writings, has been revealed; this gives a new perspective on the already familiar materials in the context of analysis of his evolution as a writer and the history of publication of his works in the XX century.

Post-nonclassical nature of changes in education actualizes the need for transforming its methodological grounds. The goal of this article is to offer a new perspective of interpretation of the methodology of education, as well as trace the steps towards its post-nonclassical transformation. The research leans on the theoretical-methodological provisions of the logical-semantic approach, which focuses on the laws of conceptualization. The article explores the objective and subjective logical-semantic patterns of the work of mind characteristic to classical and post-nonclassical worldview. Congruence with the objective logic of the work of mind of methodological grounds in educational practice of the higher school is confirmed by examples. The examples show the limitations of their methodological capabilities in solving modern problems of knowledge and practice. The limitations of their methodological capabilities in solution of the relevant cognitive tasks and practice are indicated. The article suggest and analyzes the methodological principle of the subject, which determines the human-sizedness and communicative alignment of methodological system of education, which ensures its compliance with the post-nonclassical methodology of science. The author demonstrates a number of changes within the education system, which are methodologically substantiated by the principle of the subject. The highlighted logical-semantic patterns of the work of mind can be used as an instrument for understanding and explaining the components of educational process, as well as their design and management. The author proposes a nonlinear structure of the content of education. It can underlie the creation of learning model, which would consider the individual characteristics of students and fulfill the educational potential of the traditional and innovative teaching systems.

The paper is a review of some recent books concerning Italian exiles at the time of "Risorgimento". The approach to the subject used by these studies is discussed in first place: in Isabella's research the focus is mainly in the intellectual consequences of the exile, while Bistarelli's work has the declared aim to provide a social history of the Risorgimento exiles, adopting a collective biographical approach, and Verdecchia is interested in the London's Nineteenth century's refugees mixed community. In second place, geography and itineraries of the Italian exiles are discussed as reconstructed by these studies. Both Isabella and Bistarelli point out that Spain was chosen as the main destination for the first wave of Italian exiles. The Trienio Liberal 1830-1823 provided some durable teachings: the faith in the promises of the revolution, the link between Spanish struggle and the freedom of all Europe, the new strategy of the guerrilla. Other destinations investigated by Isabella's book, Greece, Latin America and Great Britain are analysed in order to identify the origin of the most important guidelines of Risorgimento's project. Isabella and Verdecchia discuss the role of London as the most important destination of European exiles, and as unsurpassed example of the benefits of freedom, adopting different questions and different methodological approaches. Finally the paper points out as the many important results of these studies lead to more questions about social history of Risorgimento's exiles, while showing the persistently poor connection between the findings and the questions of the migration studies and those of political history.

We give short historical sketch about theoretical researches’ development started at various times at the Institute of Physics of NAS of Ukraine. The emergence and development of research teams and schools, whose creative activity continues today, is embodied through the personal contributions of prominent theorists, their colleagues and students. We describe the emergence and formation of the Institute of Physics as the first research physical institution and a prominent role of the famous Joseph Kosonogov student Alexander Goldmann in the process. It is noted that Profes- sor Leon Kordysh was who began theoretical research at the Institute of Physics continuing the tradition of theoretical studies, initiated at St. Wolodymyr University by Professor Nickolas Schiller and developed by Joseph Kosonogov. After Kordysh's death, Lev Strum known for his originality and masterful approach to complex problems determined the line of theoretical studies for four years. After the Strum liquidation and the Goldmann imprisonment, Rosen had two years of productive work at the Institute of Physics. With the beginning of the German-Soviet war, the Institute was taken to Ufa, where the work was focused on defense, the Institute itself was significantly reduced and merged with the Institute of Mathematics. In 1944, the Institute was returned to Kyiv, headed by Academician Aleksander Lejpunsky, and theoretical research was mainly conducted by Solomon Pekar with his staff and Aleksander Davydov and his group. Up to 1960, Pekar had created a powerful team of theorists, with whom he moved to the newly created Institute of Semiconductors. Since 1964, with the formation of a new theoretical department headed by Davydov, the subject of researches in the properties of molecular crystals has been expanded and deepened. Important for science and the history of theoretical research at the Institute of Physics were several activity years at it by N. N. Bogolubov and Professor Alex Sitenko. Former employees and students of these prominent scientists are now actively moving forward the theory. In fact, the staff of the theoretical department headed by Corresponding Member of our Academy Petro M. Tomchuk works very fruitfully at the Institute of Physics.

This article is devoted to the most stylistically original and artistically significant orchestral work by M.P. Mussorgsky, St. John’s Eve on Bald Mountain. The subject matters of the article are an examination of the background and history of this artwork’s creation, review of its creative sources, attribution of an autograph, and textological characterization of marginal marks in the score, while the goal is to form a new perspective of the research based on the deciphering of many intricate, complex and even mysterious circumstances associated with this orchestral opus. Particular attention is paid to the appearance of two author’s editions of the artwork; moreover the second of them arose as a result of harsh criticism of M.A. Balakirev, who insisted on a radical adaptation of the score. The autograph of the second author’s version has been preserved, while the first author’s version can only be reconstructed hypothetically.

Recent transformations in pedagogical theory and practice arouse interest in innovative methods. The developed in the late XX century methodology of conducting an informal focused discourse “World Café” can be applied for solution of complex issues, integration of opinions of the experts in different fields, arrangement of group work, recapitulation, exchange of experience, etc. Currently, this technique enjoys popularity worldwide. The subject of this research is the history of creation, functional capabilities and peculiarities of application of the “World Café” methodology in pedagogical research. The article presents a brief overview of on the history of its emergence. The fundamental principles and rules of its implementation are outlined. The article reveals the peculiarities of application of “World Café” in scientific-pedagogical purposes as a qualitative method of research of socio-constructivist direction, which facilitates the dialogue, opens access to knowledge and opinions of broad range of participants, advances mutual learning, as well as serves as the source of valuable information. The author analyzed Russian and foreign examples of application of “World Café” methodology for resolving the indicated issues. The article describes the characteristics of this method in comparison with such methods of obtaining quality information as individual interviews and focus groups. Comparative merits and flaws are identified.

The subject of this research is the African paremiology. The object is the history of studying proverbs in the Swahili language. The author examines the chronology of studying this field of linguistics by Western European and African scholars, cites their major works, and describes the peculiarities of their scientific views. Special attention is given to the works of the founders of African paremiology, as well as the perspective of modern scholars of Tanzania and Kenya upon the scientific heritage of proverbs and sayings of the Swahili language. The article employs the theoretical research methods, namely the comparison of theoretical works in the Swahili and English languages. The analysis of a wide range of works in the Swahili language alongside the works of certain European authors, allows reconstructing the chronology of the process of studying Swahili paroemias, as well as highlighting most prominent African and European scholars in this field of linguistics. The novelty of this research lies in the fact that this topic is viewed in the domestic African Studies for the first time; foreign linguists also did not pay deliberate attention to this question. The author’s special contribution consists in translation of the previously inaccessible materials of the African and Western European into the Russian language, which helps the linguists-Africanists in their further research.

The subject of this research is the hidden allusions to the novels of Edgar Poe in Anna Akhmatova’s “Poem without a Hero” and poems later period. The research material contains the framework text of the “Poem without a Hero” – the set of epigraphs to different parts of the poem, authorial commentaries, history of used and discarded epigraphs at various stages of revision of the poem, text of the “Poem without a Hero”, as well as the author's “Prose about the Poem” and a number of poems created during the work on the “Poem without a Hero” and afterwards. A. Akhmatova was interested in the works of Edgar Poe, and researched the references to Edgar Poe in the works of N. S. Gumilyov. The article employs comprehensive methodology, such as comparative-historical and biographical approaches, as well as intertextual and hermeneutic methods for determination of literary allusions and interpretation of meanings hidden by the author. The main conclusion lies in revelation of the profoundly concealed connection of the “Poem without a Hero” with the range of narratives of Edgar Poe, united by the cross-cutting motif of being buried alive and coming back from the dead: “The Black Cat”, “The Fall of the House of Usher”, “Morella”, “Ligeia”, “Berenice”, “The Oval Portrait”. This gives a new perspective on the literary characters that one after another appeared to the lyrical heroine in plot of the poem; and explains the fragment of one of the most mysterious works in Russian literature of the XX century, and some other poems of Anna Akhmatova.
