The paper comprises three sections: (a) the concepts and institutions of democracy, (b) the concept of education for democracy, and (c) the role of school in democratic education. The concept of 'open society' is critical to the strategy of education for democracy. In addition to general conditions for establishing and functioning of democracy, the author points to some of its basic institutions: structured social groups, political parties, leader elections. The concept of 'education' is considered from the standpoint of goals - social, national and individual. It is pointed to tolerance as a key concept of the theory of education for democracy. School, being the most prominent institution in the process of education for democracy, places student and development of his/he; democratic characteristics and capacities in the focus of its strategy. All elements of teaching: curriculum, methods teacher, student, textbook are in the function of the basic idea of democratic education - tolerance and crisscrossed influences (practicing of getting used to differences). Apart from the development and acquisition of thinking in concepts about democracy, education for democracy should encompass knowledge for life at state and social institutions, for private and public life, acquisition of national values, rational decision-making discussion. The framework of strategy in question is certainly exercising of tolerance and getting used to crisscrossed influences.

Men and women are the two driving wheels of society; both depend on each other. In the ancient, medieval and pre-modern periods the societies remained patriarchal in nature. Modern and post-modern society has brought sea changes in the perception of men towards women. Now women hold a better position, respect and dignity. Women have proved, through various examples that they can work rubbing shoulders with men in all walks of life. This progression has created the demand for equal educational opportunities to men and women. As women carry a dual role of homemakers as well as professionals, they are placed in a more important position to be the center of gravity of the family. Due to this remarkable significance, education of girls has become more important. Reaching out to each and every girl child is central to the efforts of universalizing elementary education. SarvaShikshaAbhiyan (SSA) or ‘Education for All’ (EFA) Programme recognizes that ensuring girl’s education requires changes, not only in the education system of the state, but also in societal attitudes. The Present paper discusses the status and prospects of girls’ education in the four districts of Uttar Pradesh (India) in the light of schemes launched under SarvaShikshaAbhiyan (SSA), implemented in the entire country in 2001.

The paper presents a critical approach to globalization as a major social process nowadays and globalization as an ideology. Globalization is a contradictory process of modern society with uncertain outcome. Ideologists of democracy would like to find a universal solution to modern-day problems in this power order. In the 20th century problems with democracy multiplied with the increasingly important role of the media, confrontations in multinational countries and political manipulations. The UN endorses the restriction of national sovereignty for the benefit of democracy and human rights. However, in reality this idea is often used for the sake of certain geopolitical interests. The paper points out difficulties of education for "global" democracy. Problems of professional education in schools are discussed. The conclusion emphasizes the problem of incorporating global differences in national educational programs for democracy.

Much of the family's lack of attention to the problems of the younger generation has led to the emergence of adolescent drug addiction and the spread of this phenomenon in modern society. The relevance of the study is conditioned by the alarming rate of spread of adolescent drug addiction in society and the decline in the average age of adolescents who have tried drugs for the first time. Purpose: to identify the root causes of adolescent drug addiction in families and to create methods to prevent this phenomenon. Material and methods: The main method of research is the method of analysis, which was used to comprehensively address the issue of adolescent drug addiction in the family, in particular the causes and consequences of this phenomenon. With the help of quantitative-analytical and logical research methods, the factors that motivate young people to use drugs, despite the obvious threat to their health and life, were comprehensively considered and described. Results: Authors identify the main factors that push modern adolescents to start using drugs, the role of the family in such a phenomenon, the types of relations within families where adolescent addiction develops. The types of family relations and the nature of intra-family relations, in which adolescent drug use begins, are revealed. The paper describes the proposed measures to prevent adolescent drug addiction, which should be used to stop the spread of this phenomenon in society. The applied value of this study is to determine the causes of adolescent drug addiction in the family and to develop measures to prevent the occurrence of this phenomenon and its further spread in society. Conclusions: Adolescent drug addiction is a serious social problem, the roots of which should be sought in each particular family where the adolescent who started taking drugs was born and raised. The causes of drug addiction in modern families are due to a significant amount of social and psychological factors. The issue of adolescent drug addiction in the family should be considered comprehensively, with reference to the place and role of the family in society. In addition, the involvement of adolescents in sports displaces drugs and contributes to their complete elimination from life. By identifying the main social and psychological aspects that motivate modern adolescents to use drugs, it is possible to create conditions to prevent a situation in society in which drug use by Ukrainian adolescents, in general, would be possible.

The development of classical music traditions in Russian culture testifies to its enormous potential and significance in the spiritual and moral development of the younger generation. However, in the modern information society, the potential of classical music in educating the personality of adolescents, in establishing the spiritual foundations of domestic society, culture and the state is not appreciated. Underestimating the role of classical music in the life of a modern teenager will contribute to the manifestation of negative trends in society and affect the life of the younger generation. Therefore, in modern society, active attempts are made to revive the interest of children and youth in classical music. To date, a methodology for forming the cognitive interest of adolescents in classical music in the conditions of extra-time activity, which occupies most of the life of modern schoolchildren, has not been developed. In this work, an attempt is made to consider the problem of developing the cognitive interest of adolescents in classical music from the point of view of modern pedagogical technologies.

This is about the pedagogical experience ahead of or beyond any pedagogical activity or action. It is therefore about perfectibility and/or dealing with something both theoretically and existentially. It is about inclusion and dialogue, but in an indirect manner, and school as a low threshold institution: heterogeneity, pluralism and multiculturalism as the primary characteristics of a modern school in a modern society. This makes school an institution important to life and knowledge. The need for a pedagogy created through a strong scientific orientation through practice or as I prefer; realism, urgent: Pedagogy framed by a good, relevant and strong understanding of context. This makes demands on teachers' competence. It demands more than possessing pedagogical scientific competence. A certain extent of double(d) competence and more is demanded both about what happens in science and about what happens in society and openness always through language and critical thinking or philosophy. This is about becoming teacher in/and for the fractured future and about what we might “give” (student) teachers in addition.
