The COVID-19 outbreak triggered a sudden transformation in all aspects of life. Inevitably, educational environments were also affected. Previous studies found a sharp drop in student satisfaction and a simultaneous corresponding increase in academic stress when online learning was instituted due to the pandemic. Conversely, academic resilience is considered psychological capital; it enables students to overcome stress and stimulates satisfaction. The interactions of these three variables must thus be collectively examined. This study used the convenience sampling technique to investigate the moderating role of academic resilience vis-à-vis academic stress and student satisfaction with online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data were collected via an online questionnaire from a sample of 337 Indonesian undergraduate students aged 18‒32 years recruited for this study. The questionnaire encompassed three measurement instruments: Stressor Scale for College Students (α =.85), Academic Resilience Scale-Indonesian version (α =.89), and Student Satisfaction with Online Learning (α =.90). Linear regression analysis revealed that academic stress exerted a significant negative effect on satisfaction with online learning. Academic resilience was a significant moderator, dampening the effects of academic stress on satisfaction with online learning. The theoretical and practical implications of the research results are also discussed.

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic accelerates the disruption in the education world to shift from face-to-face learning to online learning. Several challenges in implementing online learning potentially make online learning not run well, and later it will be affected by student’s satisfaction. This study aims to examine the effect of academic resilience on student satisfaction in online learning with the mediating role of online learning readiness. About 379 university students (aged 18-32 years (M = 20.55, SD = 1.87) whose hired by using the incidental sampling technique, participated in this study. The data were collected with three instruments: the academic resilience scale (ARS-30), Learner Readiness for Online Learning, and Student Satisfaction with Online Learning. The result showed that online learning readiness fully mediates the relationships between academic resilience and online learning satisfaction. Higher academic resilience increasing online learning readiness, then enhancing student’s online learning satisfaction. This study provides a valuable result for further research and intervention design related to academic resilience, learning readiness, and online learning satisfaction. The purpose of this study is analyzed and reconfirm each item on perceived social support e.g., peers, families, and teachers on academic resilience based on online learning during COVID-19. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design as a method. The sample in this study consisted of 291 cadets at Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran (Marine Science Polytechnic) in Makassar city selected through accidental sampling. Data were analyzed using linear regression analysis with SPSS as a statistical tool. The result of this study indicates perceived social support significantly contributes to academic resilience at 71.8% (R2 = 0.718; Sig < 0.01), and 28.2% comes from outside of the study variables. Every aspect of perceived social support contributes to academic resilience. The contribution of family support by 42.4; teacher support by 16.6%, and peer support by 12.8%. The findings in the study show that family support is the support element that dominant contributes for students in the online learning during the process and gives the highest contribution to academic resilience in the online learning process. Therefore, individuals' perception of peers, family, and teachers who can provide assistance, support, and care when students experience difficulties in the academic field can increase academic resilience.

Servant leadership has the potential to improve student satisfaction with online learning. However, the relationship between servant leadership and student satisfaction in an online environment had not yet been understood at the level of the individual instructor. The purpose of this quantitative, correlational study was to evaluate the relationship between online students’ perception of their instructor’s servant leadership style and the student’s satisfaction with the online instructor. We selected 155 online students at a major community college in the south-central United States to complete the Servant Leadership Questionnaire and the Student Evaluation of Teaching survey online. We examined the relationships between each of the five facets of perceived servant leadership style (altruistic calling, emotional healing, wisdom, persuasive mapping, and organizational stewardship) and student satisfaction. The results of the Spearman’s correlations showed a strong positive correlation between all servant leadership behaviors and student satisfaction, p < .001. A multiple linear regression analysis showed that the combination of altruistic calling, persuasive mapping, and wisdom strongly predicted student satisfaction with the instructor, F(3, 151) = 83.8, p < .001, R2= .63. The results of this study have filled a gap in the literature on the relationship between online student satisfaction and individual servant leadership behaviors. We recommend future research to investigate servant leadership in relationship to online learning at 4-year public, for-profit, and private institutions.
