Employment status is one of the major factors influencing the quality of work. Manpower contributes to building a productive nation. This tracer study was conducted to determine the employment status of the graduates of Guimaras State College-Mosqueda Campus from AY 2006-2012. The instrument used in the study was the standardized one formulated by the Commission on Higher Education in doing tracer studies for the higher education institution. The questionnaires were distributed per municipality based on the addresses of the respondents taken from the School’s Registrar Office. The majority of the graduates were female and single. They came from a family with big household size having an annual family income of less than P50,000.00. Majority of these graduates did not take further studies though they were very satisfied with the knowledge and skills acquired from their course for which they found the program and self-readiness as very effective. Majority of them were employed on a contractual basis with a monthly salary of P5,000.00 to less than P10,000.00. The primary reason for those who were not employed was family responsibility. Very evident in this study is the fact that despite poverty, the Filipino families still value education as means to finding better employment opportunities. Regardless of the dearth of physical facilities that GSCMC provided, still they continue to take higher education with the institution. The result of the study served as basis in pursuing plans and proposed action areas of intervention for GSC programs and services to the community it is serving.   KEYWORDS - Education, employment status, graduates, tracer study, descriptive study, Philippines

This paper presents the findings of a qualitative study exploring students’ perspectives on the factors boosting learner autonomy (LA) development. This study involved 393 English-majored students from a Ho Chi Minh City based higher education institution in answering open-ended questionnaires. The content analysis approach was used to analyze the qualitative data. The findings revealed that three major factors, viz. teacher-related factors, school-related factors and parental factors were believed to positively affect students’ LA emergence. However, research participants reckoned that teacher-related factors had a major role in boosting students’ LA development while school-related factors and parental factors played contributing roles in shaping students’ LA.

The article is devoted to the description and analysis of factors that potentially and actually affect the socio-economic development of the state on the example of the higher education institution. It is established that at the system level the level of ensuring the quality of educational activities and the quality of higher education has a decisive influence on the formation of a positive image of a higher education institution. The results of a survey of students on the criteria for choosing a university to study are presented. Statistics on public funding of education in general and higher education in particular are presented and analyzed. It is established that, despite the formally high percentage of education funding from the level of GDP in absolute terms, the actual funding is low and needs to be strengthened by attracting external funding from customers. Attention is also paid to the state of development of educational services for foreign students. In a competitive environment at the national and international level, the decisive influence on the involvement of foreign students in the university is influenced by the structure of the training program, teacher qualifications, organization of the educational process in the classroom and so on. The article on the example of a higher education institution presents the main stages of formation and development of the internal system of quality assurance of education as an object of influence on the socio-economic development of the state. The development and/or improvement of internal quality assurance systems in universities is becoming a powerful basis for increasing university funding from external (personally involved) sources, reducing the outflow of applicants abroad and the successful provision of educational services to foreign students. At this stage, given the limited opportunities for funding of educational activities by the state (compared to EU countries), the successful implementation of the university development strategy is possible provided that systematic work is done to improve the quality of educational services for domestic and foreign citizens. As part of further research, it is planned to analyze the mutual impact of the education quality assurance system on the effectiveness of scientific activities, the provision of additional paid educational services, training for external customers and other sources.

The present study aimed to map the evidence to provide an overview of actions implemented/executed and scales used in public higher education institutions to promote worker health. A scoping review based on the PCC (Population, Concept, and Context) mnemonic was conducted in PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus and Virtual Health Library (VHL). Population included workers from a higher education institution, the concept referred to studies focusing on the assessment of quality of life and health promotion actions and the context to higher education institutions. Electronic searches were held on December 2019. A qualitative synthesis of the data extracted from included studies (i.e. author, year, study design, sample, country, aims, action implemented/performed, thematic focus, evaluation) was performed. Electronic searches retrieved 3,330 articles that were screened by tittles and abstracts. Of these, 34 studies were fully appraised, of which four reported that actions implemented/executed related to sedentariness, posture and stress. The studies show 49 scales were identified to measuring at least one quality of life item. Through this scoping review the available evidence to provide an overview of actions implemented/executed and scales used in public higher education institutions to promote worker health. Future studies should consider more rigorous designs and objective measures to measure the quality of life of these professionals, and develop target interventions based on factors associated with the work. It is also necessary to evaluate whether the strategies work.

The basis of any business, including non-public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), is financial security, which is ensured by achieving sufficiently high profits and financial liquidity. Especially in these times, a rapidly changing market, the competition, and the upcoming birth rate forces HEIs to optimize operational and strategic decisions. On one hand, it creates new opportunities for non-public HEIs, but on the other, it is a source of danger for the future of their operations. Therefore, they must not only overcome the difficulties encountered in everyday life but also try to respond to the challenges posed by their environment, demonstrating the special care to ensure the efficiency of their operations. They must not only try to increase the quality of offered services or manage their funds rationally but with equal attention should “invest” in modern management methods and concepts. Through the use of controlling, contemporary non-public HEIs are able to choose an optimum variant of decision facilitating the achievement of their goals. In view of the above, this chapter discusses the special considerations relating to controlling HEIs from the point of view of increasing their effectiveness.
