Aims: The study assessed Salesian educators’ level of online teaching readiness and the challenges they have encountered during the conduct of online classes. Study Design: This descriptive-comparative and correlational study gathered data from Salesian Educators as respondents and Bosconians as assessors. Place and Duration of Study: Salesian Schools in the Philippines during the School Year 2020-2021 Methodology: The study gathered data from 368 Salesian Educators as respondents and 365 Bosconians as assessors using a researcher-made survey. The respondents were the whole population of High School Salesian Educators from the different Salesian Schools in the Philippines with 365 students picked through stratified random sampling. Teachers’ online teaching readiness data were gathered using a researcher-made instrument based on the principles of technological, pedagogical, and attitudinal competencies. Results: As a whole, Salesian Educators demonstrate very high online teaching readiness with an obtained mean of 3.35 regardless of the teachers’ age, sex, length of service, and online teaching experience. Both the teachers’ assessment (M=3.42, SD=0.34) and the student assessment (M=3.28, SD=0.35) indicated very high online teaching readiness. Moreover, the findings suggest a significant difference in teachers’ online teaching readiness when the assessors are grouped according to teacher and student designation [U=51722.5, p=0.000]. Meanwhile, no significant relationship between age and the teachers’ online teaching readiness [ρ (366) =-0.064, p=0.222], length of service and teachers’ online teaching readiness [ρ (366) =-0.062, p=0.236], online teaching experience and teachers' online teaching readiness [χ2(2) =1.253, p=0.534]. On the other hand, a significant relationship between teachers’ online teaching readiness and sex [χ2(2) =8.811, p=0.012] was established. Majority of teachers' challenges include dealing with passive students (87.5%), following up students (78.8%), dealing with technical difficulties (67.1%). Conclusion: Salesian Educators are ready to teach online however, teachers must continuously upgrade and update to remain relevant in this fast-paced digital era.

Collaborative learning in an online classroom can take the form of discussion among the whole class or within smaller groups. This paper addresses the latter, examining first whether assessment makes a difference to the level of learner participation and then considering other factors involved in creating effective collaborative learning groups. Data collected over a three year period (15 cohorts) from the Foundations course in the Master of Distance Education (MDE) program offered jointly by University of Maryland University College (UMUC) and the University of Oldenburg does not support the authors’ original hypothesis that assessment makes a significant difference to learner participation levels in small group learning projects and leads them to question how much emphasis should be placed on grading work completed in study groups to the exclusion of other strategies. Drawing on observations of two MDE courses, including the Foundations course, their extensive online teaching experience, and a review of the literature, the authors identify factors other than grading that contribute positively to the effectiveness of small collaborative learning groups in the online environment. In particular, the paper focuses on specific instructional strategies that facilitate learner participation in small group projects, which result in an enhanced sense of community, increased skill acquisition, and better learning outcomes.

Civil registration aims to secure permanent records of people. In the Philippines, Republic Act No. 3753 or the Civil Registry Law mandates that all vital events should be registered. This study aims to assess the civil registration awareness, compliance, purpose, and challenges of municipal residents in Negros Occidental, Philippines. A descriptive-comparative and correlational study was used through a researcher-made questionnaire among 376 residents of villages identified using stratified random sampling. The study revealed that the level of awareness of the residents on civil registration is high. At the same time, the extent of compliance was high on birth and marriage but low on death registration. It also revealed a significant difference between awareness and compliance on civil registration when respondents are grouped according to sex and educational attainment, but no significant differences when grouped as to age, income, and distance to the office of the local civil registrar.  There is a significant relationship between the level of awareness and extent of compliance in the civil registration of residents. Among the challenges for nonregistration or delayed registration of vital events are lack of valid identification card and high cost of transportation, among others.

Introduction: Continuance commitment is essential in our world today because employees have the fear that a loss of their jobs will affect their income and their livelihood. This is not an exception for working students. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Philippines has recounted that eight of the students are working student. Work-study is also an accepted practice of the most Seventh-day Adventist universities. This study seeks to investigate the continuance commitment of the students as related to compensation and social support.  Method: This study is correlational research design. Out of the 450, working students in AUP 100 were randomly sampled to answer the self-constructed questionnaires. The study used Pearson correlation to analysis the relationship and T-Test and ANOVA to analyze the difference.  Result: This study revealed that there is a high positive significant relationship between compensation and continuance commitment and a moderate positive significant relationship between social support and continuance commitment. Also, there was no significant difference in continuance commitment based on sex, age, and the number of units of the working students. The working students stay on their job because of the high compensation they receive from AUP and the moderate social support they get from their families, friends, and relatives. Both male and female working students are committed to staying on their job. The number of units did not deter the working students from being a commitment to their jobs. The study has revealed that the continuance commitment of working students is based on compensation and social support.  Discussion: The research recommends that in order to get the commitment of working students, the wage payments to them must be high with moderate social support.

The teaching competence of teachers is highly regarded as the core of every educational endeavor. Educators worldwide are greatly challenged to gradually develop a more complex teaching competence due to the demand for highly skilled graduates in the global market. Consequently, the Department of Education adopted the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) as a quality assurance tool in implementing the K to 12 Curriculum. The domains of the PPST comprised the complete competency that guarantees a manifestation of globally best teaching practices. Hence, the paper assessed the level of teaching competence of public elementary school teachers in the Division of Bacolod City during the school year 2019-2020, when grouped according to educational attainment, teaching experience, and assessor's designation. Also, it analyzed whether a significant difference exists in the areas of teaching competence and demographics.

The rapid growth of industrialization and diversification worldwide diverted the trend in the labor market to be shifted towards alternative work arrangements, also known as Non-standard Employment (NSE). In the Philippines, these alternative forms of employment of NSE can be greatly observed. The majority of workers under NSE arrangements fall under fixed-term or contractual employees. The purpose of this study is to assess the level of job satisfaction and work-life balance of the NSE workers of a manpower agency in a highly urbanized city in the Philippines and explore their challenges.  Moreover, it sought to determine the significant relationship between job satisfaction and work-life balance. Using a standardized questionnaire, the data were gathered from a sample of 282 agency workers. The study tested hypotheses using Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis, and Spearman rank. The results showed that workers demonstrate a low level of job satisfaction while there is a moderate level of work-life balance. However, the results indicated there is a significant difference in the level of job satisfaction and level of work-life balance only for the variable sex.  Likewise, findings revealed a significant relationship between job satisfaction and work-life balance. The most challenging for the NSE workers are time management, company policies, dealing with customers, and motivation for the job.  The study concludes that job satisfaction influences the work-life balance of the NSE workers.  The findings of the study provide valuable insight for manpower agencies in the formulation of a human resource program focused on improving employee satisfaction of the job.

Creativity has played a leading role in education that not only attracts many learners but also teachers. According to Ismail, Desa, and Balakrishnan (2018) creativity is one of the main skills that is extremely noticeable in teaching. Moreover, because of the alteration of generation and expansion of knowledge and technology, the instruction requires creative teachers that can use up-to-date and modern techniques. Within this framework, the researcher tried to investigate any significant relationship between Iranian EFL teachers’ Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and their creativity. To comply with the objective, a total of 210 Iranian EFL teachers took part in this study. For gathering the data two questionnaires were administered through Google Form that shared via social media like Telegram and WhatsApp. The results of correlation analyses revealed that there was a positive significant relationship between Iranian EFL teachers’ CPD and their creativity. Accordingly, this study proposed a structural model to examine CPD factors contributing to EFL teachers’ creativity. Due to the outcome of SEM, collaborating is the best predictor of Iranian EFL teachers’ creativity. Moreover, this study provides evidence that there is no significant difference in the level of Iranian EFL teachers’ creativity between male and female teachers and years of teaching experience. Together these results provide important insights into the significant role of CPD on the teachers’ creativity. These findings provide a potential mechanism for teachers, supervisors, and administrators of English language institutes or schools to elevate teachers’ creativity knowledge, and education by applying beneficial practices and activities of CPD.
