Improving the reliability of test results is achieved by applying more advanced methods of recording and processing the results. Therefore, an important part of the study of the strength of freight wagons is the choice of methods for obtaining, processing and analyzing experimental data. The article outlines the procedure and algorithms for determining the equivalent stresses under longitudinal and dynamic loads acting during operation. It is shown that algorithms for determining stresses generated by dynamic longitudinal and vertical forces are significantly different due to various load application schemes. Thus, the testing of freight wagons under dynamic longitudinal loads is carried out by the impact against an experimental wagon, and testing under dynamic vertical forces is performed during the wagon motion in the composition of the experimental train on the characteristic, pre-selected (planned) sections of the railway track at specified speeds. To estimate the level of loading of the freight wagon structureunder vertical dynamic loads, a method based on the replacement of a real random process is used by some schematized process, which in terms of the fatigue damage accumulation should be equivalent to a real process. From the whole variety of schematic methods, two methods stand out, i.e., the full cycle method and the rainflow method, which most fully represent the real process. The advantage of the rainflow method is the ability to process the process in real time. However, the algorithm of the rainflow method is quite complicated and does not allow processing large amounts of information. In this regard, a method of maximum discharge was proposed, which is a kind of full cycles method and allows you to process an unlimited amount of information online. An example specified in GOST 25.101 was used for a comparative analysis of the rainflow and maximum discharge methods. Analysis showed a satisfactory matching of both methods. Based on the procedure outlined, the block structure of the computational process is proposed to determine the equivalent reduced voltage amplitude. Each block displays the impact of the forces depending on the loading condition, that is, longitudinal impact force and dynamic forces when the wagon is moving on straight track sections, curves and switches of the railway track. Key words: wagon car, process, dynamic load, longitudinal load, voltage, amplitude, algorithm, equivalent stress, safety margin, strength.

To accelerate high-intensity heavy-ion beams to high energy in the booster ring (BRing) at the High-Intensity Heavy-Ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF) project, we take the typical reference particle 238U35+, which can be accelerated from an injection energy of 17 MeV/u to the maximal extraction energy of 830 MeV/u, as an example to study the basic processes of longitudinal beam dynamics, including beam capture, acceleration, and bunch merging. The voltage amplitude, the synchronous phase, and the frequency program of the RF system during the operational cycle were given, and the beam properties such as bunch length, momentum spread, longitudinal beam emittance, and beam loss were derived, firstly. Then, the beam properties under different voltage amplitude and synchronous phase errors were also studied, and the results were compared with the cases without any errors. Next, the beam properties with the injection energy fluctuation were also studied. The tolerances of the RF errors and injection energy fluctuation were dictated based on the CISP simulations. Finally, the effect of space charge at the low injection energy with different beam intensities on longitudinal emittance and beam loss was evaluated.

Renewable Distributed Generation (RDG), when connected to a Distribution Network (DN), suffers from power quality issues because of the distorted currents drawn from the loads connected to the network over generation of active power injection at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC). This research paper presents the voltage rise regulation strategy at the PCC to enhance power quality and continuous operation of RDG, such as Photovoltaic Arrays (PVAs) connected to a DN. If the PCC voltage is not regulated, the penetration levels of the renewable energy integration to a DN will be limited or may be ultimately disconnected in the case of a voltage rise issue. The network is maintained in both unity power factor and voltage regulation mode, depending on the condition of the voltage fluctuation occurrences at the PCC. The research investigation shows that variation in the consumer’s loads (reduction) causes an increase in the power generated from the PVA, resulting in an increase in the grid current amplitude, reduction in the voltage of the feeder impedance and an increase in the phase voltage amplitude at the PCC. When the system is undergoing unity power factor mode, PCC voltage amplitude tends to rises with the loads. Its phase voltage amplitude rises above an acceptable range with no-loads which are not in agreement, as specified in the IEEE-1547 and Southern Africa grid code prerequisite. Incremental Conduction with Integral Regulator bases (IC + PI) are employed to access and regulate PVA generation, while the unwanted grid current distortions are attenuated from the network using an in-loop second order integral filtering circuit algorithm. Hence, the voltage rise at the PCC is mitigated through the generation of positive reactive power to the grid from the Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM), thereby regulating the phase voltage. The simulation study is carried out in a MATLAB/Simulink environment for PVA performance.

Abstract The paper describes the characteristics of a combined motor of a separator drive. Simulation experiment provided the characteristics of a combined motor of a separator drive, which allow considering the impact of the line voltage parameters (the supply voltage amplitude and frequency) and the resistance moment created by the separated product on the electromagnetic torque of a combined motor of the separator drive and the rotation speed of the working body of the separator with a combined motor.

To demonstrate the large potential of proton minibeam radiotherapy (pMBRT) as a new method to treat tumor diseases, a preclinical proton minibeam radiation facility was designed. It is based on a tandem Van-de-Graaff accelerator providing a 16 MeV proton beam and a 3 GHz linac post-accelerator (designs: AVO-ADAM S.A, Geneva, Switzerland and ENEA, Frascati, Italy). To enhance the transmission of the tandem beam through the post-accelerator by a factor of 3, two drift tube buncher units were designed and constructed: A brazed 5-gap structure (adapted SCDTL tank of the TOP-IMPLART project (ENEA)) and a non-brazed low budget 4-gap structure. Both are made of copper. The performance of the two differently manufactured units was evaluated using a 16 MeV tandem accelerator beam and a Q3D magnetic spectrograph. Both buncher units achieve the required summed voltage amplitude of 42 kV and amplitude stability at a power feed of less than 800 W.
