The study is focused on monitoring the influence of selected parameters on the zeta potential values of titanium dioxide nanoparticles. The influence of pH, temperature, ionic strength, and mass content of titanium dioxide in the suspension was assessed. More than a thousand samples were measured by combining these variables. On the basis of results, the model of artificial neural network was proposed and tested. The authors have rich experiences with neural networks applications and this case shows that the neural network model works with a very high prediction success rate of zeta potential. Clearly, pH has the greatest effect on zeta potential values. The influence of other variables is not so significant. However, it can be said that increasing temperature results in an increase in the value of the zeta potential of titanium dioxide nanoparticles. The ionic force affects the zeta potential depending on the pH; in the vicinity of the isoelectric point, its effect is negligible. The effect of the mass content of titanium dioxide in the suspension is absolutely minor.

Abstract Aim “For pre operative optimization and educational purposes, rare possibilities should be included in the differential diagnosis”” Material and Methods “CASE REPORT. Inguinal hernia is one of the common operations done by surgeons, often diagnosed clinically. Here we present a case of 29 year old male patient presented with inguinal swelling for 3 years. He was admitted for the surgical ward as a case of incarcerated inguinal hernia for elective repair under GA. Intra op the mass was not consistent with inguinal hernia, two other possibilities were a concern that can cause the swelling; 1) testes, which was excluded by examining the scrotum, 2) Dermoid/Epidermoid cyst which was checked by the mass content of hair and pasty fluid” Results “DERMOID CYST” Conclusions “Most surgeons depend on clinical picture in diagnosing inguinal hernia, thus even other rare possibilities should be included in the differential diagnosis. Unusual presentations of inguinal hernia should be having radiological evaluated.”

The paraffin content in production well streams must be monitored to assess the risks of wax formation during the production, transportation, and treatment of hydrocarbons. This is especially important when operating Achimov reservoirs containing fluids with a high content of heavy paraffin-type hydrocarbons. The standard approach for determining the paraffin content in oil using certified methods involves a long process of sample preparation and separation in selective columns followed by freezing out of paraffin from toluene extract. An urgent task is to find methods for the rapid assessment of paraffin content in condensates. The article considers a method for estimating the mass content of paraffins in condensates based on chromatographic data on the component-fractional and component-group composition of degassed condensate. The authors provide a comparison of the mass fraction of paraffins obtained by the proposed method and measured by the standard certified method.

Abstract. Goal: on the basis of the veterinary and laboratory diagnostics department with a testing laboratory, surveillance studies of fodder of vegetable origin from different manufacturers were carried out for the following indicators: urease activity, mass content of soluble protein. An experiment on the activity of urease in full-fat soybean feed was also performed. To assess the quality of heat treatment of soybeans and products of its processing, to analyze the stability of the parameter of urease in fodder soybeans. Methods. These studies were performed in accordance with GOST 13979.9-69; GOST 13979.3-68. Results. As a result of statistical processing, it was revealed that over the past five years, urease activity was above the maximum permissible value in 33 % of feed samples. In some samples of soybeans, this indicator was exceeded by 2.6 times, in the experimental sample of soybeans – by 5.8 times. It was also experimentally confirmed that this indicator is a stable parameter. Additionally, studies of the cumulative mass content of soluble proteins were conducted in these samples. It was found that in 13 % of soybean samples and its processed products, the result of soluble protein was in the range of 68.20–74.50 %, which indicates excessive heat treatment of this raw material. Based on the results of the research conducted, it was found that this feedstock did not always meet the stated requirements. In this regard, the conduct of these studies is necessary for further control of the technological process. Scientific novelty. Currently, the issue of the quality of fodder of vegetable origin and soybean-processed products remains relevant. Full-fat soybean, soybean extracted meal, soybean expeller meal are increasingly used for the preparation of animal feed for farm animals and poultry. In this regard, it became necessary to control the quality and safety of this feedstock.

Boron nitride (BN) ceramic fibers containing amounts of silicon nitride (Si3N4) were prepared using hybrid precursors of poly(tri(methylamino)borazine) (PBN) and polycarbosilane (PCS) via melt-spinning, curing, decarburization under NH3 to 1000 °C and pyrolysis up to 1600 °C under N2. The effect of Si3N4 contents on the microstructure of the BN/Si3N4 composite ceramics was investigated. Series of the BN/Si3N4 composite fibers containing various amounts of Si3N4 from 5 wt% to 25 wt% were fabricated. It was found that the crystallization of Si3N4 could be totally restrained when its content was below 25 wt% in the BN/Si3N4 composite ceramics at 1600 °C, and the amorphous BN/Si3N4 composite ceramic could be obtained with a certain ratio. The mean tensile strength and Young’s modulus of the composite fibers correlated positively with the Si3N4 mass content, while an obvious BN (shell)/Si3N4 (core) was formed only when the Si3N4 content reached 25 wt%.

The applications of the interval and standard probabilistic approaches for verifying the reliability of the results of an experiment studying the mechanical properties of nuclear materials are compared. The presence of “outliers” in a sample of hardness values for hafnium ingots is studied with for fixed oxygen mass content. The situation of measurement error limitation without reliable information about its distribution is considered. The correctness of the application of numerical methods of interval analysis for processing experimental data under conditions of uncertainty and noisy experimental data is shown. Determination of the dependence of the Brinell hardness of refined hafnium samples on the mass oxygen content was performed by a combination of methods: removal of anomalous measurements by interval analysis methods and approximation of data from truncated samples by the method Levenberg-Marquardt minimization.

Magnesium phosphate cement (MPC), a new type of inorganic cementitious material, is favored in engineering and construction because of its fast setting speed and high bonding strength, but is limited in practical application due to its high production cost and excessive release of hydration heat. Relevant research has investigated the application of discarded oyster shell powder (OSP) replacing cement mortar and has reported certain improvements to its performance. Consequently, focusing on discovering more effects of OSP on MPC performance, this study, by using a typical three-point bending test, used 45 cuboid specimens to investigate the influences of OSP mass content on flexural properties of MPC at different curing times. Results illustrated that MPC flexural strength was first increased and then decreased, and 3% is the critical value for OSP mass content. Similarly, the stiffness of all specimens presented a tendency to increase first and then decrease, with a maximum value of 36.18 kN/mm appearing at 3%, i.e., the critical OSP mass content. Finally, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were employed to analyze the microstructure and composition of specimens, confirming that the specimens generated not only the hydration product potassium phosphate magnesium (MgKPO4·6H2O, MKP), but also another new reactant (CaHPO4·2H2O).
