In this study, based on the bottom-up spillover theory, the effects of living area satisfaction such as housing, public transportation access, access to medical institutions, access to cultural facilities and natural environments, and access to public institutions on life satisfaction were analyzed. For the analysis, raw data of the “Regional Resident Needs Survey for Establishment of the 4th Local Social Security Plan” conducted in Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do in 2018 was used. After allocating ‘eup’ and ‘myeon’ for the survey, a researcher visited the area and conducted a direct visit. And in the final analysis, the data of 195 people were analyzed using SPSS version 23.0. Logistic regression analysis was performed to analyze factors affecting life satisfaction. Based on the research results, practical and policy suggestions were presented to improve the satisfaction of life for the elderly in the island area.

This study examines the relationship between the individual motivational characteristics of young scientists (i.e. PhD students and post-docs) and their entrepreneurial intention, exploring also the mediating role of their third mission orientation. For this purpose, the authors considered the knowledge spillover theory of entrepreneurship at the level of the individual and the Theory of Planned Behaviour. Having university scientists as the unit of analysis, they used structural equation modelling to survey a sample of 337 young scientists working in a major Italian university. The authors were able to empirically identify the importance of third mission orientation as a mediating variable between scientists’ motivational characteristics and their entrepreneurial intention. The entrepreneurial orientation is reinforced if scientists are also engaged in third mission activities. The findings offer valuable insights for policy makers and higher education managers to develop strategies that could enhance knowledge transfer activities and produce additional benefits for universities and societies.

Abstract The study purposes to investigate the determinants of entrepreneurial success in university spin-offs (USOs) in Italy using a two- level of analysis: the meso level and the macro level. Using the Resource-Based View theory Th and the Knowledge Spillover Theory of Entrepreneurship, a framework to estimate the impact of the two contextual level has been explored. The results from the empirical analysis of sample of 405 Italian USOs, the results shows that USOs’ success is related with the resources of the parent university (meso level) and regional area (macro level) targeted to support the spillover process and the related technology transfer to the market. JEL classification numbers: O30, O32. Keywords: University spin-offs, Meso level, Macro level, University, Region, Italy.

The purpose of the research using the synthetic scoping review method is to reveal state-of-the-art of entrepreneurial orientation study in social entrepreneurship context. This research was carried out in a mixed method approach with three stages, namely systematic review and scoping review as a qualitative approach and bibliometric mapping with co-occurrence analysis as a quantitative approach. The results of a systematic review show that a social entrepreneurial orientation has been initiated since 2002.. The European Union and quantitative research dominate. The results of the scoping review reveal seven dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation that are typical with social entrepreneurship context. Furthermore, the results of the co-occurrence analysis raise five major themes, namely 1) the effect of social entrepreneurial orientation on entrepreneurial financial performance, 2) economic performance and social performance, 3) Social entrepreneurial orientation in sociopreneurship practice, 4) the antecedent and consequent of the strategic domain of social entrepreneurial orientation and 5) Social entrepreneurial orientation in knowledge spillover theory of entrepreneurship. Based on results, this article contributes to new research opportunities on social entrepreneurial orientation study.

In entrepreneurial ecosystems (EEs), geographical and contextual factors play a big role in shaping the knowledge bases for digital innovation. While cities around the world compete to be perceived as successful “tech startup hubs”, proactive urban strategies are needed to create knowledge spillovers into EEs. This study explores the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) knowledge practices in the EEs of Berlin and Sydney by using knowledge-spillover theory of entrepreneurship. The study utilizes a bibliometric analysis of secondary data in combination with exploratory stakeholder interviews conducted for both cities. Findings underline the critical role of experimental knowledge in driving the momentum of the EEs and the supporting role of policies imprinting knowledge practices. The paper shows how the dynamics of EEs can be explored empirically and raises awareness of the role of specialised and integrated policies in determining a city’s overall success in building EEs.

Knowledge has replaced labor as the key factor for productivity growth in innovation discourse. The Knowledge Spillover Theory of Entrepreneurship (KSTE) provides the theoretical foundation to bridge the gap between knowledge and productivity growth. The way regional knowledge actually contributes to productivity growth requires a theoretical explanation because knowledge capability is an indirect and intangible input for regional productivity growth. Previous research has shown that entrepreneurship alone is insufficient to drive productivity improvements. We examine how knowledge capabilities lead to meaningful growth outcomes of new firms in a region. This study examines the determinants of productivity growth by analyzing the factors of entrepreneurship and knowledge capabilities at the regional level, especially considering the moderating effect of entrepreneurship between knowledge and regional growth; by comparing different dimensions of local knowledge capabilities; and by aggregating the contribution of knowledge capabilities and entrepreneurship to productivity growth at the regional level. The empirical analysis is performed on Italian NUTS-3 regions by utilizing an integrated data set combining patent data from the EPO PATSTAT database, and regional data from Eurostat regional statistics. This study makes two main contributions to the KSTE literature by linking knowledge, entrepreneurship, and regional growth and by providing empirical results on different aspects of regional knowledge capability. Our findings identify which types of local knowledge capabilities are more important and how related innovative activity interacts with entrepreneurial activity, elucidating the mechanisms by which knowledge affects labor productivity through entrepreneurship.

The health emergency and pandemic at the global level was announced in the early months of 2020 due to the Covid-19 corona virus, and healthcare workers have had to perform their duties in risky circumstances. Consequently, the healthcare professionals are more vulnerable to being infected with the Covid-19 coronavirus. Hence, through the lens of the spillover theory, this study investigates the effect of perceptions of Covid-19 related risks on partner (spouse) “social undermining” via emotional exhaustion. Data was collected in two periods with one-week time lag from 237 healthcare professionals and their partners. Results revealed that perceptions of Covid-19 related risks increased partner undermining via employee emotional exhaustion. This study contributes to the literature of the current pandemic by investigating the impact of perceptions of Covid-19 related risks on healthcare workers’ close relatives. Hospital administrators and policymakers need to develop timely interventions to mitigate or minimize this negative spillover effect. Therefore, practical implications are suggested accordingly.

Work-family enrichment (WFE), also known as positive spillover between work and family, often improves employees’ well-being, physical health, and performance. Our study explores a process through which employees experience higher WFE when maintaining congruent values with the organization and supervisor based on segmentation-integration boundary management strategies. Using a sample of 287 employees from diverse industries and employment settings across the U.S., the results indicated that value congruence between subordinates and their organization/supervisor both positively predicted work-to-family enrichment. Family-supportive supervisor behaviors significantly mediated the relationship. Supervisor/subordinate gender matching did not significantly moderate the value congruence-FSSB relationship. In studying these effects with PROCESS mediation analysis, we merge and extend three major bodies of literature on spillover theory, person-environment fit theory, and boundary theory to explicate the process through which WFE develops when having congruent segmentation styles at work.

Social demands in our world today and pressures from employees have posed a challenging dilemma among employers. The employers have had to adopt strategies that will meet the needs of the employers in order to make sure that they retain the best talents while at the same time provide a work life balance thus ensuring a win-win situation for all parties. Lack of providing work life balances have led to metal ill health related disease, absenteeism to deal with family issues and finally loss of best talent to the competitors especially when they have favorable work life balance practices. The study therefore sought to establish the influence of family support practices on employee productivity Safaricom limited in Kenya. The study adopted spillover theory. The study adopted a descriptive survey with target population of 4972 employees of Safaricom limited Kenya. A sample size of 370 employees of the target population was considered using stratified sampling method. Quantitative data that resulted from this process was analyzed with help of SPSS version 21 and descriptive statistics such as frequencies, mean, percentages and standard deviation. From the findings, family support services significantly influence employee productivity at r=.598 p<0.005. Additionally, the findings concur with the theoretical foundation of the study that adoption of family support services spills over to the attitude and the motivation of the employees which results to increased productivity.
