Increased acute mortality of farmed American alligators ( Alligator mississippiensis) was observed in various pens from 2 different farms in Louisiana over 2 years (2019-2021). A total of 14 alligators from multiple events of increased mortality were subjected to postmortem investigations. Except for one alligator with acute neurologic signs, no premonitory signs were observed. All animals had pneumonia (14/14), coelomitis (14/14), and intravascular short Gram-negative bacilli (14/14). Myocarditis (13/14) was common. Yokenella regensburgei was isolated from all alligators tested (13/13). These data suggest the respiratory tract may be a primary target system and could be involved in transmission, either through exhaled bacteria or through swallowing of contaminated respiratory fluids with passage through the feces. Available sensitivity data for Y. regensburgei in this study indicates in vitro sensitivity to aminoglycosides, fluoroquinolones, chloramphenicol, and trimethoprim/sulphamethoxazole antibiotics. Yokenella regensburgei should be included in the differential diagnosis of septicemia and acute death in alligators.

Abstract Astronomical observations of neutral atomic hydrogen (H i) are an important tracer of several key processes of galaxy evolution, but face significant difficulties with terrestrial telescopes. Among these is source confusion, or the inability to distinguish between emission from multiple nearby sources separated by distances smaller than the telescope’s spatial resolution. Confusion can compromise the data for the primary target if the flux from the secondary galaxy is sufficient. This paper presents an assessment of the confusion-flagging methods of the H i-MaNGA survey, using higher-resolution H i data from the Westorbork Synthesis Radio Telescope-Apertif survey. We find that removing potentially confused observations using a confusion probability metric—calculated from the relationship between galaxy color, surface brightness, and H i content—successfully eliminates all significantly confused observations in our sample, although roughly half of the eliminated observations are not significantly confused.

This research aims to analyze the industrial revolution 4.0 and 5.0 and its relevance to education in Indonesia. Research methods using literature studies that review or critically review the knowledge, ideas, or findings contained in journals, books, and other scientific works The results of research show that the presence of the industrial revolution 4.0 and 5.0 contributed significantly to Indonesian education. One of them is the existence of technology-based learning innovations that make it easier for students to learn without knowing space, time, and place. Industry 4.0 is technology-driven, society 5.0, however, is value-driven. The former requires the latter to remind society's essential needs, values, and responsibilities as the primary target; The latter requires the former for a technological push and solution. Therefore, the development of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and 5.0 is expected to bring progress to the development of education, especially in Indonesia, by creating change and preparing superior and innovative graduates with skills that have been prepared in advance.

Abstract Next generation neutrino oscillation experiments like DUNE and T2HK are multi-purpose observatories, with a rich physics program beyond oscillation measurements. A special role is played by their near detector facilities, which are particularly well-suited to search for weakly coupled dark sector particles produced in the primary target. In this paper, we demonstrate this by estimating the sensitivity of the DUNE near detectors to the scattering of sub-GeV DM particles and to the decay of sub-GeV sterile neutrinos (“heavy neutral leptons”). We discuss in particular the importance of the DUNE-PRISM design, which allows some of the near detectors to be moved away from the beam axis. At such off-axis locations, the signal-to-background ratio improves for many new physics searches. We find that this leads to a dramatic boost in the sensitivity to boosted DM particles interacting mainly with hadrons, while for boosted DM interacting with leptons, data taken on-axis leads to marginally stronger exclusion limits. Searches for heavy neutral leptons perform equally well in both configurations.

COVID-19 is a human-infectious virus. The respiratory system is the primary target of the coronavirus, but it can also harm cardiac tissues and gastrointestinal organs. Many frequent circumstances, such as the medication's or medicine's purpose, the dosage/potency of the drug, and the patient's condition, can place patients in grave danger. Several cures have been reported using a variety of therapy methods. Among the various treatments, natural and synthetic medicines are the most commonly documented. Some herbal medicines, such as Tribulusterrestris, Withaniasomnifera, Curcuma longa, Ocimum sanctum, and Phyllanthusemblica, have powerful antiviral (AntiCOV-19) properties against novel coronavirus, heralding the start of a new era in herbal therapy.

Annually, over 10,000 cases of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) are diagnosed in Europe. Puumala hantavirus (PUUV) causes most of the European HFRS cases. PUUV causes usually a relatively mild disease, which is rarely fatal. However, the severity of the infection varies greatly, and factors affecting the severity are mostly unrevealed. Host genes are known to have an effect. The typical clinical features in PUUV infection include acute kidney injury, thrombocytopenia, and increased vascular permeability. The primary target of hantavirus is the endothelium of the vessels of different organs. Although PUUV does not cause direct cytopathology of the endothelial cells, remarkable changes in both the barrier function of the endothelium and the function of the infected endothelial cells occur. Host immune or inflammatory mechanisms are probably important in the development of the capillary leakage. Several immunoinflammatory biomarkers have been studied in the context of assessing the severity of HFRS caused by PUUV. Most of them are not used in clinical practice, but the increasing knowledge about the biomarkers has elucidated the pathogenesis of PUUV infection.

In Terror Capitalism anthropologist Darren Byler theorizes the contemporary Chinese colonization of the Uyghur Muslim minority group in the northwest autonomous region of Xinjiang. He shows that the mass detention of over one million Uyghurs in “reeducation camps” is part of processes of resource extraction in Uyghur lands that have led to what he calls terror capitalism—a configuration of ethnoracialization, surveillance, and mass detention that in this case promotes settler colonialism. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork in the regional capital Ürümchi, Byler shows how media infrastructures, the state’s enforcement of “Chinese” cultural values, and the influx of Han Chinese settlers contribute to Uyghur dispossession and their expulsion from the city. He particularly attends to the experiences of young Uyghur men—who are the primary target of state violence—and how they develop masculinities and homosocial friendships to protect themselves against gendered, ethnoracial, and economic violence. By tracing the political and economic stakes of Uyghur colonization, Byler demonstrates that state-directed capitalist dispossession is coconstructed with a colonial relation of domination.

The continual evolution of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) and the emergence of variants that show resistance to vaccines and neutralizing antibodies threaten to prolong the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Selection and emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants are driven in part by mutations within the viral spike protein and in particular the ACE2 receptor-binding domain (RBD), a primary target site for neutralizing antibodies. Here, we develop deep mutational learning (DML), a machine learning-guided protein engineering technology, which is used to interrogate a massive sequence space of combinatorial mutations, representing billions of RBD variants, by accurately predicting their impact on ACE2 binding and antibody escape. A highly diverse landscape of possible SARS-CoV-2 variants is identified that could emerge from a multitude of evolutionary trajectories. DML may be used for predictive profiling on current and prospective variants, including highly mutated variants such as omicron (B.1.1.529), thus supporting decision making for public heath as well as guiding the development of therapeutic antibody treatments and vaccines for COVID-19.

The critically ill patient has severe respiratory, cardiovascular or neurological disorder often in combination. The critically ill patient needs intensive care unit (ICU) admission and strict monitoring. Intoxication commonly experienced in a critically ill patient in ICU and can complicate management. In developing countries, poisoning of herbicide still common and used for suicide attempts. Herbicides such as paraquat and glyphosate are often used because of their availability. Paraquat and glyphosate have high mortality rate primarily as a suicide attempt agent in developing countries. The primary target for paraquat toxicity is in the lung and can cause lung fibrosis. Severe glyphosate intoxication can cause dehydration, hypotension, pneumonitis, oliguria, loss of consciousness, liver dysfunction, acidosis, hyperkalemia and dysrhythmia. Diagnosis for herbicide intoxication needs a history of herbicide ingestion, physical examination and laboratory examination. Stabilisation and supportive therapy is the only choice, and there is still no specific treatment for herbicide intoxication. The intoxication of herbicide particular critically ill patient because there is still no such specific treatment for these.

Improvisation and notation are frequently opposed in terms of transience versus permanence, an opposition that reflects broader Eurocentric ideas of orality and literacy. Confronting such binary distinctions, Schuiling describes the use of notation by three groups of improvising musicians, showing how notations mediate their understanding of time. This forms the basis of a critique of Alfred Schütz’s influential account of social interaction in musical performance. Schuiling argues that Schütz’s distinction of an ‘inner time’ of music and an ‘outer time’ mapped by the score remains tied to a work-centred musical ontology, and fails to attend to the making of time in the course of performance. Drawing on his fieldwork, Schuiling reconsiders the work of Maurice Halbwachs, the primary target of Schütz’s argument. Rather than understanding music as an object of inner contemplation, Halbwachs provides a view of music and temporality as a way of opening up to the world.
