When uncertainty is regarded as a surprise and an event in the minds, it can be said that individuals can change the future view. Market, financial, operational, social, environmental, institutional and humanitarian risks and uncertainties are the inherent realities of the modern world. Life is suffused with randomness and volatility; everything momentous that occurs in the illustrious sweep of history, or in our individual lives, is an outcome of uncertainty. An important implication of such uncertainty is the financial instability engendered to the victims of different sorts of perils. This chapter is intended to explore big data analytics as a comprehensive technique for processing large amounts of data to uncover insights. Several techniques before big data analytics like financial econometrics and optimization models have been used. Therefore, initially these techniques are mentioned. Then, how big data analytics has altered the methods of analysis is mentioned. Lastly, cases promoting big data analytics are mentioned.

Prosodic encoding of focus in Taifi Arabic is not yet fully understood. A recent production study found significant acoustic differences between syntactically identical sentences with information focus, contrastive focus and without focus. This paper presents results from a production experiment investigating whether information and contrastive focus have prosodic effects on the pitch-accent distributions. Using question-answer paradigms, 16 native speakers of Taifi Arabic were asked to read three target sentences in different focus conditions. Results reveal that every content word is pitch-accented in utterances with and without focus. However, there are very few cases (23.12%) in which the post-focus words are deaccented. The largest percentage of deaccentuation was observed in the utterances with initial contrastive focus. The results show that focus structures in Taifi Arabic show both deaccentuation and post-focus compression. Therefore, the prosodic realization of focus in Taifi Arabic is different from their counterparts in other Arabic dialects such as Egyptian and Lebanese Arabic. These findings have an important implication for both the prosodic typology and focus typology.

Abstract Carbonyl sulfide (OCS) is an abundant sulfur (S)-bearing species in the interstellar medium. It is present not only in the gas phase, but also on interstellar grains as a solid; therefore, OCS very likely undergoes physicochemical processes on icy surfaces at very low temperatures. The present study experimentally and computationally investigates the reaction of solid OCS with hydrogen (H) atoms on amorphous solid water at low temperatures. The results show that the addition of H to OCS proceeds via quantum tunneling, and further addition of H leads to the formation of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), formaldehyde (H2CO), methanol (CH3OH), and thionformic acid (HC(O)SH). These experimental results are explained by our quantum chemical calculations, which demonstrate that the initial addition of H to the S atom of OCS is the most predominant, leading to the formation of OCS-H radicals. Once the formed OCS-H radical is stabilized on ice, further addition of H to the S atom yields CO and H2S, while that to the C atom yields HC(O)SH. We have also confirmed, in a separate experiment, the HC(O)SH formation by the HCO reactions with the SH radicals. The present results would have an important implication for the recent detection of HC(O)SH toward G+0.693–0.027.

Abstract Background To clarify the effect of anogenital distance (AGD) on stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in female patients. Methods Charts of patients who admitted to urogynecology polyclinic between December 2020 and February 2021 were analyzed retrospectively. The AGD parameters including anogenital distance from the anus to the clitoris (AGDAC), anogenital distance from the anus to the fourchette (AGDAF) and genital hiatus (GH) were measured. To identify effect of ADG parameters on SUI, patients were divided into the two subgroups (patients with SUI and without SUI). Demographic characteristics of patients and perineal anatomy measurement were compared between groups. Results Totally, 256 female patients met study inclusion criteria. In comparison of patients with and without SUI, demonstrated that age, weight, height, and BMI were similar between groups (p = 0.200, p = 0.455, p = 0.131, and p = 0.215, respectively). The AGDAF was measured 22.6 mm in patients with SUI and 25.5 mm in patients without SUI (p = 0.014). In contrast, AGDAC was significantly longer in patients with SUI (81.1 mm vs. 72.2 mm, p = 0.001). Also, GH was significantly longer in patients with SUI (p = 0.016). Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that one mm increment in AGDAC and GH, is associated with 1.108- and 1.038-fold time of SUI development risk, respectively (p = 0.001 and p = 0.004). In contrast, decrease in AGDAF is resulted with significantly higher risk for SUI (p = 0.001). Conclusion The present study demonstrated that shorter AGDAF, and longer AGDAC and GH were resulted with significantly higher incidence of SUI. Considering the ease and non-invasiveness of anogenital distance measurement, an important implication of the results of current study is that it is a measurement that can be easily performed during routine gynecological and obstetric examinations as a suitable tool for use in the prediction of women who will develop stress incontinence in the future.

Vegetables polyculture system is potentially increasing pathogenic fungi diversity because various plant hosts are available. There is no data about patogenic fungi diversity at polyculture vegetable farming in Serang village, District of Karangreja, Purbalingga Regency. This study aimed to determine patogenic fungal diversity and disease percentage caused by the fungi at polyculture vegetable farming in Serang village, District of Karangreja, Purbalingga Regency. This research used purposive random sampling. Infected plants were collected at ten polyculture farming locations and fungal identification was performed at the laboratory. Fungi were identified morphologically based on the signs, symptoms, as well as macroscopic and microscopic characters. The fungi's pathogenity was determined by applying Koch's postulate test. The data were analyzed descriptively through literature comparison. The results showed that seven fungal species were found at polyculture farms in Serang Village. The obtained fungi were Colletotrichum sp., Fusarium sp., Alternaria sp., Septoria sp., Cercospora sp., Botryodiplodia sp., and Nigrospora sp. The lowest damage was 18.24% on tomato fruit infected by Fusarium sp. and the highest was on chili plants which was caused by Colletotrichum sp. The data is the first report for polycuture system. The obtained data has important implication for the management of vegetables farming in Serang Village.

We examined majority group members’ perceptions of racial slurs, compared to what we have labeled as combination terms. These combination terms possess the same semantic and pragmatic linguistic functions as racial slurs, functioning to express negative emotion toward, and to describe, a target. Across three studies (total N = 943) racial slurs were not perceived as significantly different from combination terms. We then examined whether participants higher in social dominance beliefs reported greater perceived justification for using combination terms over racial slurs because of their lack of historical denigration of marginalized groups that racial slurs have. Participants, even those higher in socially dominant attitudes, did not perceive greater justification for the use of combination terms than racial slurs. Indeed, an important implication is that race-marking, an understudied area of social psychology, paired with general derogative terms produces terms which may function similarly to racial slurs, but, fortunately, are also similarly vilified in modern society.
