Abstract We identify a ∼600 pc wide region of active star formation located within a tidal streamer of M82 via Hα emission (F Hα ∼ 6.5 × 10−14 erg s−1 cm−2), using a pathfinder instrument based on the Dragonfly Telephoto Array. The object is kinematically decoupled from the disk of M82 as confirmed via Keck/LRIS spectroscopy and is spatially and kinematically coincident with an overdensity of H i and molecular hydrogen within the “northern H i streamer” induced by the passage of M81 several hundred Myr ago. From H i data, we estimate that ∼5 × 107 M ⊙ of gas is present in the specific overdensity coincident with the Hα source. The object’s derived metallicity (12+ log ( O / H ) ≃ 8.6 ), position within a gas-rich tidal feature, and morphology (600 pc diameter with multiple star-forming clumps), indicate that it is likely a tidal dwarf galaxy in the earliest stages of formation.

When searching for an object, we use a target template in memory that contains task-relevant information to guide visual attention to potential targets and to determine the identity of attended objects. These processes in visual search have typically been assumed to rely on a common source of template information. However, our recent work (Yu, et al., in press) argued that attentional guidance and target-match decisions rely on different information during search, with guidance using a “fuzzier” version of the template compared to target decisions. However, that work was based on the special case of search for a target amongst linearly separable distractors (e.g., search for an orange target amongst yellower distractors). Real-world search targets, however, are infrequently linearly separable from distractors, and it remains unclear whether the differences between the precision of template information used for guidance compared to target decisions also applies under more typical conditions. In four experiments, we tested this question by varying distractor similarity during visual search and measuring the likelihood of attentional guidance to distractors and target misidentifications. We found that early attentional guidance is indeed less precise than that of subsequent match decisions under varying exposure durations and distractor set sizes. These results suggest that attentional guidance operates on a coarser code than decisions, perhaps because guidance is constrained by lower acuity in peripheral vision or the need to rapidly explore a wide region of space while decisions about selected objects are more precise to optimize decision accuracy.

Short Communication: First record of the cassava lace bug Vatiga illudens (Drake, 1922) (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Tingidae) from East Java, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 22: 2870-2876. The cassava lace bug, Vatiga illudens (Drake, 1922) (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Tingidae) is recorded from Indonesia for the first time. This species is found on the abaxial surface of leaves of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz, Euphorbiaceae) in several plantations of East Java and heavily infest this plant. Vatiga illudens is native to the Neotropical Region and seems to be the alien species in the Oriental Region. This tingid has already spread over a wide region of East Java, suggesting that the invasion of the lace bug endangers the other regions cultivating cassava.

It has been increasingly clear that pottery was adopted as a continuous technology during the first quarter of the 7th millennium BC in a wide region, from Upper Mesopotamia through Central Anatolia and the Lakes District region. However, the absence of pottery in the basal level at Ulucak Höyük shows the presence of a pre-ceramic sequence in western Anatolia, before c. 6600/6500 cal BC. This article discusses the earliest pottery assemblage from Ulucak (6600/6500–6200 cal BC) and compares it with the later ceramic sequences at the site. Ultimately, the functional and typological developmental sequence of Neolithic pottery at Ulucak Höyük and its temporo-spatial relations with other Neolithic sites in Anatolia will be assessed.

This chapter examines how Xinglongwa jades in the sixth millennium bce mark the beginning of nephrite’s preeminence in East Asia. Their carefully selected raw material, color, and texture, as well as established standards in form and production technologies, laid down the foundations for later jade cultures across a wide region in East Asia. In particular, the Xinglongwa jade slit rings are the early known circular slit earrings in the world. The influence of Xinglongwa jade culture on notable jade cultures across North China is evident, as key characteristics that distinguish Xinglongwa jades from other prehistoric jade traditions were preserved.

Nowadays, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have received growing popularity in the Internet-of-Things (IoT) which often deploys many sensors in a relatively wide region. Current trends focus on deployment of a single UAV or a swarm of it to generally map an area, perform surveillance, monitoring or rescue operations, collect data from ground sensors or various communicating devices, provide additional computing services close to data producers, etc. Applications are very diverse and call for different features or requirements. But UAV remain low-power battery powered devices that in addition to their mission, must fly and communicate. Thanks to wireless communications, they participate to mobile dynamic networks composed of UAV and ground sensors and thus many challenges have to be addressed to make UAV very efficient. And behind any UAV application, hides an optimization problem. There is still a criterion or multiple ones to optimize such as flying time, energy consumption, number of UAV, quantity of data to send/receive, etc.

The use of SCUBA diving for marine research in the Chilean fjords has increased the possibility of obtaining information on the sponge assemblages living in this environment. However, much work is still needed to achieve a satisfactory knowledge of the benthos of this wide region. As to sponges, just consider that seventeen new species have been recently described by several authors (Hajdu et al., 2013; Fernandez et al., 2016; Bertolino et al., 2019) with detailed information of this benthic fauna for this area. Aim of this work is the description of a new species of Acanthella (Dictyonellidae van Soest, Diaz & Pomponi, 1990), Acanthella danerii sp. nov.. It was collected at “Seno Magdalena” (44°61’48.63” S 72°95’83.12” W) (Chilean fjords) by SCUBA, at 20 m depth, on hard substrates of a vertical wall ending on a rocky bottom that slopes down to 32 m during a survey in August 2016.

An expression is proposed that relates the transport properties of polar substances (diffusion coefficient, viscosity coefficient, and thermal conductivity coefficient) with entropy. To calculate the entropy, an equation of state with a good description of the properties in a wide region of the state is used. Comparison of calculations based on the proposed expressions with experimental data showed good agreement. A deviation exceeding 20% is observed only in the region near the critical point as well as at high pressures.


The recreation of the segment table has conveyed voice-over-IP, and current patterns recommend that the investigation of neighborhood will soon rise. Actually, few cyberinformaticians would differ with the investigation of wide-region systems, which epitomizes the affirmed standards of programming dialects. In this paper, we look at how reenacted toughening can be connected to the investigation of 802.11b.
