Pedagogical expertise is considered as a system-forming scientific technology in education, which has a significant impact on the practice of teaching and the formation of a creative personality, actually becoming a method of scientific cognition in the context of improving the quality of education. It is advisable to design all programs of higher pedagogical education according to the deductive principle-from the general content component presented in the structure of technologies of pedagogical expertise of educational projects and programs, to private methodological practice-oriented recommendations proposed by experts as an indicative basis for teacher actions. The role of an expert and his personal qualities are of particular importance in the composition of pedagogical expertise. Based on the professional analysis of the expert's activity, his personal portrait is formed. In pedagogical expertise, the ratio of the objective (various normative documents regulating the activities of an expert) and the subjective is crucial, when the quality of the examination depends on the competence, experience of an expert specialist, his wisdom, intuition and creative insight. The analytical review of the mistakes of pedagogical experts should be used as the basis of the methodology for training teachers and expert specialists in the field of education.

Kingfish is a documentary film that addresses a 19-year estrangement between my father, Jack McDonald, and his brother, Dan. Despite research indicating that 1 in 12 people experience familial estrangement,1 this phenomenon is rarely discussed. Kingfish explores the culture of silence surrounding family estrangement, as well as other complex factors contributing to its initiation and maintenance. To confront this, Kingfish poses a two-part question: How does estrangement function and what are its effects? I examine Jack and Dan’s estrangement as a byproduct of significant events that were not properly addressed or processed. I also look at psychological concepts of differentiation of self and betrayal of the family system, as well as Jack and Dan’s distinct valuation of money. Existing within the tradition of domestic ethnography and autobiographical documentary, Kingfish provides an intimate and personal portrait of family cut-off, which acts as one small initiative to confront the silence surrounding estrangement.

The article presents the main principles of forming the socio-psychological characteristics of a student of the XXI century and the main trends of its development in the realities of modern Russian reality. The article analyzes external and internal factors that determined the place of higher education and higher education institutions in the life of the population, in particular, young people, assesses the consequences of these factors on the student's personal portrait, and describes the historical background of their appearance on the basis of political and economic transformations in the country. The author formulates his own conclusions about changes in the socio-psychological portraits of students in our country compared to the youth of the Soviet period. Students, being an integral part of young people, are a special socio-demographic group that is characterized by special living, working and everyday conditions, a system of value orientations, social behaviour and psychology. Many characteristics of a modern student coincide with the representatives of students at the end of the last century: this is their main activity (to study and attend an educational institution), but the psychological and social portrait of a modern student does not coincide with the traditional one. The article presents statistical data, researchers' opinions on the learning process, readiness to participate in solving the most important problems of modern youth, and ways to implement their goals. As a result, a generalized portrait of a modern student is modeled. This is an active young man who is concerned not only with the problems of students, but also with problems related to the development of society. The main values of a modern student are: health, family, material prosperity.

AbstractThis article provides a few of my enduring recollections of Professor Ronald H. Coase (1910–2013). Part of the paper uses the medium of poetry to communicate my emotions and reactions on first meeting Coase at a conference in 1991, and at another conference in 1997; the poem includes an Epilogue, written shortly after I heard the sad news of Coase’s passing on September 2, 2013. The rest of the paper contains my recollections of a very surreal episode I shared with Ronald Coase in 1994, while both of us were crossing the
