Purpose In this paper, the authors take the first step in the study of constructive methods by using Sobolev polynomials.Design/methodology/approach To do that, the authors use the connection formulas between Sobolev polynomials and classical Laguerre polynomials, as well as the well-known Fourier coefficients for these latter.Findings Then, the authors compute explicit formulas for the Fourier coefficients of some families of Laguerre–Sobolev type orthogonal polynomials over a finite interval. The authors also describe an oscillatory region in each case as a reasonable choice for approximation purposes.Originality/value In order to take the first step in the study of constructive methods by using Sobolev polynomials, this paper deals with Fourier coefficients for certain families of polynomials orthogonal with respect to the Sobolev type inner product. As far as the authors know, this particular problem has not been addressed in the existing literature.

We introduce attribute and relational representations of mosaic image models with directed relationships between regions. Attribute representations of asymmetric relational models based on stacking, ranking and integral descriptions are considered. We propose some morphological shape similarity measures based on relational models. We show that using the same oriented relational model, various morphological operators can be constructed, in particular, of Serra- or Pyt’ev type. Some constructive methods for the design of such morphological operators in an attribute and relational domains are proposed. From this consideration we also extract a new morophlogical scheme for two-stage mutual adaptive image-and-shape joint filtering: at the first step, the shape is simplified (projected) with regard to the image to be projected, and at the second step, the image is simplified (projected) with regard to the simplified (projected) shape.

The problem of teaching mathematics in Lithuanian schools envisaged in this article. The teachers often use the teaching methods of behaviourism. The widely used teachingmethods of constructivionism in the world are appearing in Lithuanian schools too. There is talked how mathematics teachers can easier start to use new progressivemethods by using IT in this article. There is reviewing how start to use constructive mathematics teaching methods by using Geometer’s Sketchpad in this article. There was appeared some problems for teachers by using Geometer’s Sketchpad in schools. So these problems help to find new step of investigating Geometer’s Sketchpad in teaching mathematics – to built the various sets of dynamic sketches for teaching and learning mathematics in basic schools. More than 800 dynamic sketches have been developed within 9th and 10th grades mathematics curriculum. Now is preparing set of sketches for 11th and 12th grades. Some constructive methods of teaching mathematic by using these sets of sketches are discussed in this article. The methods of comparative analyze and of synthesis of scientificworks are used in this article.

The article describes the research work to determine the methods of psychological protection of nursing staff when working with cancer patients. Results. A training program has been developed, thanks to which nurses working with cancer patients will be able to analyze their experiences, actions and statements, which will help them to correct their behavior and increase their work efficiency. Conclusion. The study made it possible to study, evaluate and implement effective techniques of constructive psychological defense in the context of vocational training, as well as to study emotional stability and assess the level of emotional burnout as an indicator of the psychological health of specialists.

The object of this research is visual culture in the context of studying artifacts and design of new visual images. The subject of this research is the theoretical reflection on the essential attributed as the general characteristics of visual culture. The author compares the depiction of the artifacts of visual culture artifacts in postmodernism and constructivism. Postmodernism does not aim to build holistic images and reveal the content through visual form. Constructivism, in turn, structures holistic and aesthetically expressive forms of artifacts in unity with the content. The knowledge and meanings in visual artifacts are constructed via graphic spatial and artistic features. Special attention is given to the constructivist approach as a theoretical-methodological substantiation for studying the essential attributes of visual artifacts. Such approach allows the cultural entities to build semantic models by means of the general cultural geometric language in the dialectical synthesis of various forms, content, and conventional meanings. The artistic interpretations contribute to creation of the unique content. The constructivist approach includes the following methods: deconstructivism of conducting detailed analysis of the artifacts; constructivism of building new aesthetically expressive images. The result of this research lies in systematization of the essential attributes of visual culture for all forms and content. The novelty of consists in correspondence of the constructivist approach to the object and subject of the research, as well as in examination of the actual reality of the modern visual culture of digital technologies and new constructive methods of visualizing form and content in the images.

Efficient business organizations must balance quality, cost, and time constraints in competitive environments. Reflecting the complexity of this task, we consider manufacturing systems including several stages of production chains requiring time measurement. When production scheduling is not prioritized in such enterprises, several negative effects may occur. A corporation may suffer financial penalties as well as negative brand exposure, and thus may find its credibility challenged. Therefore, in this study, we propose constructive methods to minimize a total tardiness criterion, considering preventative maintenance constraints to reflect the reality of industrial practice, focusing on a no-wait flowshop environment in which jobs are successively processed without operational interruptions. In addition to proposing constructive methods to solve the no-wait flowshop production scheduling problem, a metaheuristic is presented as an approach to improve results obtained by constructive methods. Computational experiments were designed and performed to compare several production scheduling algorithms. Among various constructive heuristics considered, an algorithm called HENLL using an insertion logic showed the best performance. The proposed metaheuristic is based on the iterated greedy (IG) search method, and the results obtained demonstrated significant improvement compared to the heuristics alone. It is expected that this study may be used by production planning and control (PPC) professionals to apply the proposed method to schedule production more efficiently. We show that the proposed method successfully presented a better solution in relation to total tardiness, considering the above mentioned environment.

It is increasingly common in Poland to resolve conflicts by way of constructive methods. Mediation as one of such methods does no longer solely refer to juvenile matters from which it actually started in Poland. Due to its numerous positive aspects it is conducted in various areas of Polish people’s lives: politics, religion, education, etc. Researchers seek also an answer to the question as to whether it is reasonable to apply it in the matters involving the persons deprived of liberty. It seems that in the case of certain offences it is substantially less applicable than in others. As an example, a considerable controversy sparks off when domestic violence perpetrators take part in mediation, which is why the objective of the article consists in pondering upon possibilities and barriers of their participation in mediation meetings both in the civil and penal matters. Accordingly, the term “domestic violence” is defined and the specificity of conflicts accompanying violence is covered then. Nevertheless, the emphasis is put on the analysis of mediation in civil matters – family and penal matters with the participation of persons deprived of liberty in accordance with the Article 207 of the Polish Penal Code.

AbstractIntroduction. Stress can be defined as a physiological and psychic response to external stimuli (stressors) or as a relationship between the body and the environment that can affect the body in a negative, positive or neutral way.Aim. The aim of this paper was to investigate the causes of stress among students, and to identify methods of coping with it in relation to sociodemographic determinants.Material and methods. The number of 117 nursing students were examined using two standardized tools: Distress Thermometer and Mini Cope Sheet.Results. Intensity of stress among nursing students amounted to 6.3, which was higher than the average. The causes of stress included: worrying, anxiety, fatigue, work, school. The most frequently chosen strategies for coping with stress are active coping, seeking emotional and instrumental support.Conclusions. 1)Intensity of stress among nursing students was higher than the average and was equal to 6.3. 2) Students chose constructive methods of coping with it, i.e. active coping, trying to overcome the situation, searching for emotional and instrumental support. 3) The age of the respondents impacted the choice of the strategy of „cessation of activities” and the cause of stress – „relationship with a partner” and marital status correlated with occurrence of symptom of stress - „diarrhea”.
