Abstract Most of the research on communal coping (CC) has assumed and found that it can enhance health, as well as strengthen entire communities, under stressful circumstances. Nevertheless, recent research has questioned the seemingly inherent benefits of CC. This article rectifies these discrepancies in the literature in a new, extended theoretical model of CC that crosses interpersonal, family, health, organizational, intercultural, and small group communication, as well as psychology and public health. In so doing, we (a) provide a deeper understanding of the functionality of CC for resilience and thriving across subfields within Communication and other disciplines, (b) clarify the concept of CC and describe how it is constructed and revealed through communication, (c) address problematic ways researchers measure CC, and (d) demonstrate the processual nature of it. Future directions are suggested.

This study concentrated on small group communication amongst Deaf basketball players. The central aim of the current research was to explore how outsiders perceive the communication of Deaf athletes who communicate via American Sign Language (ASL) in the sport of college basketball. Cultural identity theory (CIT) provided a theoretical foundation for the current research, while the extant literature on small groups was discussed to provide insight on intrateam messages. The participants in this study completed a pretest that centered on sports communication, partook in a distraction exercise, were informed they were analyzing Deaf athletes who communicate in ASL, and then completed a post-test that centered on sports communication. One of the main findings was that Deaf basketball players were perceived to share messages of acceptance with one another. Additional results revealed that Deaf basketball players were perceived to resolve conflict in a positive manner and were less likely to engage in negative conflict while communicating with teammates. Implications for CIT were a focal point in the study discussion as were practical implications tied to effective communication in team sports.

This research described basically and found out concept of public relation management in order to determine how the public relation management in developing organizational behavior. This research was located in State Islamic Senior High Schools in Jambi Province consisting of MAN 1 Jambi, MAN 1 Batanghari, and MAN 1 Tebo. This research is qualitative descriptive research. Data collection techniques were using observation, interview and documentation. Data analysis used combined Miles Huberman and John Creswell model. Data validity technique used data triangulation. Results of the research show that public relation management can be seen from implementation of small group communication planning, execution of special events of public relations, media use, and evaluation on Islamic school program. Organizational behavior can be seen from mutual communication with the society, adjustment on public needs, support by the society and clear targets. Conclusion of this research shows that the public relation management can develop organizational behavior in State Islamic Senior High Schools in Jambi Province. Implication of this research shows that the public relation management can develop the organizational behavior.

Interpersonal communication is fairly effective in telling, giving opinions or changing a person's behavior, because communication is reciprocal and the response from the communicant can be known directly. The purpose of this study was to determine the interpersonal communication processes and strategies between kiai and santri in instilling moral moral values in the Al-Mustaqim Islamic Boarding School of Bugel's son. This type is qualitative research w ith a hermeneutic phenomenology approach. The subjects of this study were kiai, administrators and students of the Islamic Boarding School Al-Mustaqim, the son of Bugel whose samples were taken through a snowball sampling technique. While the object is the process and interpersonal communication strategy. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, documentation, interviewing and then the data is analyzed by data analysis methods, data reduction , data coding and data analysis. The results of this study are interpersonal communication processes and strategies carried out between kiai and santri in instilling akhlakul karimah values in Al-Mustaqim Islamic Boarding School in Bugel Village, namely direct communication with two forms of processes, namely the process of interpersonal communication in the session pengajian (through sorogan recitation method in dyadic communication and bandongan in small group communication) and non-recitation interpersonal communication process in (1) Boarding School Management Consultation: (2) Development of santri: (3) Special consultation. And interpersonal communication strategies, namely: (1) Dangled Carrot Strategy: (2) Dependent Sword Strategy.

The purpose of this paper is to propose a conceptual model for data security in the Internet of thing devices. Estimated by Jumoki in early 2018 to 2022, there will be about 18 billion connected IoT devices. Therefore many issue related to IoT devices were discussed especially data security. Cryptography with lightweight features is one of the focus area by researchers to develop a powerful cryptography scheme for IoT devices. Lightweight cryptography scheme has been discussed and proposed widely recently. There are AES, PRESENT, Hash algorithm declared as a lightweight algorithm under consideration in ISO/IEC 29192 “Lightweight Cryptography”. Unfortunately these lightweight algorithm is one-to-one communication cryptography technique. This algorithm is very practical to implement for individuals or for small group communication but unpractical when implemented in a big company where many users can become a bottleneck. Therefore we propose a lightweight Ciphertext Policy-Attribute Based Encryption (CP-ABE) algorithm to implement in IoT devices. CP-ABE algorithm is one-to-many technique suitable for secure grouping communication, but this algorithm is not a lightweight feature. Therefore this paper proposes a lightweight CP-ABE algorithm for IoT devices.

Social deception games are games that involve players adopting roles and teams that are not known to all players of the game. One of the components of these types of games is deceiving other players for the purpose of completing goals and tasks. The focus of this case study is to show how social deception games were used to teach aspects of small group communication (specifically the development of roles with small groups and power structures that emerge within small groups) to multiple groups of students taking a basic communication course at a large university in the United States. The framework of this case study will begin with an explanation of two social deception games (“Are You a Werewolf?” and “The Resistance”) and the previous literature related to small group communication, game-based learning, and other pedagogical frameworks. This review of literature is followed by a description of the lesson plan and course objectives that were used to frame the class time. An analysis of the reflective assignments will help describe the benefits of approaching small group communication with a ludological technique. Finally, discussion of the effectiveness of games like those in the category of social deception within the college communication curriculum is provided.
