PurposeThis study examines the influence of different user innovator mindsets on new product development (NPD) performance. The current research explores the relative impact of a product-focused user innovator mindset vs a customer-focused mindset on feedback volume and feedback diversity and investigates the effect of each type of feedback on product improvement and product diffusion.Design/methodology/approachThis study examines these relationships using two distinct types of data. Data on user innovator mindset, feedback characteristics and user innovator improvisation were obtained via an online survey. Archival data on NPD performance measures were acquired directly from an online research database, and results were obtained using confirmatory factor analysis.FindingsThe authors find that while neither type of user innovator mindset directly influences NPD performance, user innovators, who are highly customer-focused, have a significant advantage in sourcing knowledge from users in the form of a higher volume of feedback and more diverse feedback. In turn, feedback volume appears to positively influence product improvement, while feedback diversity positively influences product diffusion. Finally, the effect of both types of feedback on product improvement is enhanced for user innovators who are highly improvisational.Originality/valueThis research highlights the important role that customer focus plays in directly obtaining knowledge from customers (i.e. customer feedback) and the effects of that feedback on NPD performance. This study provides evidence that a user innovator's interest in accurately understanding the needs of their peers improves their access to external knowledge and enhances their innovation efforts.

This research was conducted in order to improve the teaching material in the form of an educational CD for class VII SMP with material on physical and chemical changes (chemical reactions). The stages of research and improvement carried out include: (1) needs analysis, (2) product improvement stage, (3) feasibility study and trial stage. Analysis of the needs of class VII students of SMPN 8 Jakarta with 39 respondents was carried out with the results that 100% of respondents had used computers at relatively frequent intervals (79.92%). More than half of the respondents (66.67%) stated that the seventh grade science (chemistry) subject was quite difficult. The product improvement stage begins with a literature study to create teaching material content, and the production of teaching materials in the form of interactive CDs. Educational materials are made using Macromedia Flash interactive programming facility which includes animation of chemical reaction applications, chemical reaction processes, and practice questions with multiple choice questions. The time required for the contents of this learning CD is 15-20 minutes. The feasibility test phase carried out by material experts, media and teachers showed that the learning CDs developed were suitable for practical use. Meanwhile, small and large group experiments with class IX students of SMPN 8 Jakarta and SMP Terpadu Widya Duta Jakarta gave very good interpretation results, so it can be concluded that CD is used for learning materials on physical and chemical changes.

The high level of business competition in this current globalization requires companies to produce quality products. Among the efforts of product improvement is through understanding consumer preferences. This study aims to identify consumer preferences of several attribute combinations of goat milk branded Bumiku Hijau, Yogyakarta. Conjoint analysis with pairwise-comparison was employed in this study. The combination of attributes analyzed were price, flavor variant, types of milk, and packaging. Results showed that the best combination results were obtained on stimuli number 13 with a total usability value of 3.709, which was 0.356 on the product price. The chocolate flavor variant attributes to the largest total usability value of 0.166. Based on the type of milk, the total usability value of powdered milk (skim) is 0.073, and the highest usability value was obtained through carton packaging (200gr) of 0.077. Consumers favored powdered goat milk products with new flavor variants that suit teenagers and adults. They also want 100 gr product packaging as it is easier to measure and consume.

GitHub is a product improvement stage that advances participation and joint exertion in project advancement. Generally, engineers investigate related activities to reuse capacities and during investigating they coincidentally find a few elements that might help them in their undertaking. Recommending developers some projects that are similar to their work can save their time. Yet, it is difficult getting relevant projects amongst the pool of many projects on GitHub. Besides, every other user may have different requirements and choices for the project. A recommendation system saves developers from spending their time searching for projects that can help them in developing. In this paper, we propose an interactive and customized recommendation approach that recognizes software project features and developer behavior. This proposed approach naturally suggests the top-N most comparable programming projects. The outcomes utilizing information slithered from GitHub shows that our proposed approach suggest significant tasks with high review at cutoff 5 and 10.

Nowadays, while the importance of doing sports for a healthy life is spreading all over the world, consumers expect someperformance and functional properties from sports products. It is expected that the sportswear must be in harmony withthe body, do not create discomfort and do not affect the performance. The comfort of sportswear is an important criterionthat affects the performance and motivates the athlete. There are dynamic and fundamental changes in the preferencesof sports people with the change in the context; type of sports, the geography they live in, season, climate, their cultural, demographic and anthropologic characteristics, etc. While offering sportswear products to the market, brands shouldpay attention not only to quality parameters, but also to these criteria. This article aims to determine Turkish runners’ sportswear preference criteria and expectations that are evaluatedagainst past experiences and present desires. For the study, data were collected from 195 runners and statisticallyanalyzed. With the data obtained from the questionnaires, the runner and running habits were analyzed, the perspectiveof sportswear shopping and purchasing preference criteria, sportswear size and fit issues, evaluation of the fabricproperties, and the demands of the runners for sportswear were determined. This research gives resourceful information for sportswear manufacturers and comfort researchers since the compiledconsumer feedback from runners provide tools for product improvement to enhance utility

This development research aims to (1) produce an inquiry-based chemistry worksheet that is appropriate as a student learning medium, (2) to find out the magnitude of the increase in students' conceptual mastery after using inquiry-based worksheets. This research is a development research using the Borg & Gall development model, namely 1) preliminary study, 2) planning, 3) development, 4) limited trial, 5) revision, 6) field test, 7) final product improvement. This research was conducted at SMKN Agriculture 2 Tugumulyo. The feasibility of the Inquiry-Based Chemical LKPD is seen from the score using SBI analysis. The increase in learning outcomes is seen from the value of the Standard Gain pretest and posttest. The results of this study are 1) the inquiry-based chemistry worksheets that were developed are suitable for use as a learning medium for students with an assessment score of 60.5 in the good category. 2) The increase in students' mastery of concepts is 0.48 in the medium category.

This paper aims to discuss, define, and analyze a set of perspectives and potentials of smart interactive packaging applied to CPGs to fill up the space between marketing and physical retailing in terms of knowledge distribution. Smart interactive packaging goes beyond the traditional one-way informational flow and triggers dialogue between the package and consumer at several user touch points. The paper takes into consideration two engaged environments: the retail environment and the use environment, where packaging interacts with the consumer. Due to enabling technologies, smart interactive packaging becomes a channel for story-telling and knowledge distribution among the brand, retailer, and consumer. Authors propose that IoP-enabled packaging converts the story told by the digital marketing into a physical artifact presented on the physical retail shelf, as well as contributes to product improvement and innovation due to collected, assessed and distributed knowledge related to consumer data.
