This study attempted to shed light on the reading research conducted over the last twenty years for the purpose of reflecting on the most and least addressed aspects of reading in the research. This study is also hoped to constitute a resource for scholars about the latest initiatives in the reading research in general and in EFL reading in particular. In order to answer the research aims, a meta-analysis of 45 articles was conducted. Despite the fact that the methodology adopted for this study was thematic and qualitative, frequency counts were made. A corpus of 45 international articles titles, which met the selection criteria within the overall database of five leading journals, was collected. A seven-step procedure was followed to sort and analyze the data. The findings showed that there were six major themes, which were ranked in terms of their frequency of distribution into reading comprehension, reading strategies, reading ability, reading literacy, reading speed, and reading skills. In light of the findings, the researchers attempted to highlight the areas of focus and to put forth guiding principles for reading instruction (e.g., strategy-based instruction is essential in teaching reading; technology-based instruction is more a must than an alternative).

Electricity is the basic needs of our life and one cannot think of a world without electricity. In the existing meter reading technology, the meter reading process is done by the help of labor force. But this methodology is subjected to many disadvantages like errors throughout calculation, absence of consumer throughout billing time and additional expenses for the billing method. Existing work aims to reduce the labor force for the billing. An energy measurement through wireless smart meter using IoT is proposed for automatic meter data collection, gives announcement through messages displayed on LCD and energy auditing. To overcome this problem IoT based smart electric meter is developed as proposed project.

At the threshold of the digital era, Zuzana Licko was of the opinion that familiar letterforms owe legibility to centuries-long exposure and that all new, prototypically unmatching forms would be equally legible if used as frequently. This paper examined the legibility in the context of familiarity – is it affected by the time of exposure to a particular typeface or a typeface’s universal structure. We ran repeated measures tests with exposure period in-between. The experiment was conducted using for this purpose designed typefaces as stimuli, and the eye-tracking on-screen reading technology. The results confirmed that one’s familiarity with a typeface influences one’s reading speed. The universal letter structure, recognised by Frutiger as the prototype skeleton, is the constant that a priori provides legibility. On the other hand, the period of exposure to uncommon letterforms also has a positive impact on legibility. Therefore, considering that the period of familiarity with the humanist letterforms has been continuous since their establishment, the maxim from the dawn of the digital era can be regarded as valid.

Contemporary instructors face a growing paradox: pedagogical research espouses the benefits of interactive learning, yet, due to funding pressures, large class sizes challenge their ability to implement these practices. The present research investigates how digital solutions, specifically an online adaptive reading technology (OART), can mitigate these divergent forces. The OART is a self-paced software solution that mimics an offline textbook with functionality (e.g., quizzes, progress indicators) that adapts to student needs and facilitates class preparation in an interactive manner. Drawing on empirical evidence from a multiclass field study, the findings indicate that the technology improves student perceptions of engagement with the course and their academic performance. Notably, however, these benefits primarily arise when students take an “all-in” approach, and complete the material in its entirety, even when compared with students who completed most of the material. These findings offer both theoretical and practical implications for key stakeholders.
