Known as Jieţi or Momârlani, this population, located in the so-called Country of the Momârlani in the southern part of Hunedoara County, is distinguished by certain specific characteristics that single it out from the other inhabitants of Jiu Valley. Leisure activities, dances or hore (Romanian round dances) in particular, have characteristics of the ethnic profile of the Momârlani, as well as the humorous/satirical extempore verse chanted during a folk dance (lies); they all aim at creating relaxation and good humor. They include Învârtita jienească, Stânga, Hora mare, Hora bănăţeană, Haţegana, Sârba, Alunelu, Bordeiaşul, etc., depending on the locality. Dances at the Jieni’s parties – the Sunday dances at the pub, țirc dances, dances at claca (voluntary collective work of the peasants usually followed by a party), şezători (evening sitting of village women), godchildren gathering, blood brotherhoods, baptisms, weddings, pițărăii (carolers on Christmas Eve), the feast of the Magi, the gathering of the sheep, nedei (countryside parties held for a week after Easter by the Jiu Valley communities of Momârlani). Parties and dances also contributed to shaping the ethnic profile of this population, along with the ornamental and colorful richness and meanings of the traditional costume, gastronomy, customs, traditions, language, folk literature, etc. The isolation in which they lived until the first half of the 20th century was one of the reasons that enabled the preservation of their unaltered ethnic characteristics, of the specificities given by the originality of certain customs and traditions, some of which are of an ancient origin.

Issues regarding gender issues are closely related to women and how their roles are constructed in social life, which creates various stereotypes that lead to gender inequality problems. In the film La Source des Femmes, gender construction is shown through narrative and cinematographic aspects. This article focuses on women's resistance to gender construction that have taken shape in the lives of remote rural women in Morocco. The analysis in this article uses a film study by Boggs and Petrie (2012) and Actor Scheme by Greimas (1967). James C. Scott's concept of resistance and Mansour Fakih's gender inequality were also used to deepen the analysis. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. The data in the study are in the form of words, clauses, phrases, or sentences that indicate the form of women's resistance. The findings of the analysis show that the resistance shown by rural Moroccan women aims to fight the injustice of their roles and obligations as women and housewives who have been oppressed and have directly harmed them. Through this research, it is also seen that the resistance carried out by village women has an impact on their growing awareness of self-subjectivity and redefining their role as a woman.

Drawing on the latest round of elections to Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state of Haryana in 2016, this article interrogates the substantial increase in the number of Dalit women representatives, based on fieldwork in a specific village. Since both Dalit and non-Dalit women present narratives of non-participation in the functioning of the village panchayat, it is argued that the increase in Dalit women representatives was not by design, but by default, due to an amendment of the Haryana Panchayati Raj Act 2015. Overall, in the studied village, women continue to remain marginalised in the local representative bodies, and gender-based quotas have only ensured numerical visibility of women.

Cases of violence against women in Maros Regency are quite high. For example, in 2016, according to Department of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (DP3A) data, there were 68 cases and 21 police data cases. Likewise, divorce data in the Religious Courts are more caused by domestic violence. Of course, this social problem must be immediately addressed through local government policies. However, in fact, no policy specifically regulates the handling of this problem. Therefore, community service in the form of policy advocacy training for village women victims of violence needs to be carried out. This advocacy training was attended by 25 participants from various villages. Participants were provided with policy advocacy materials covering (1) government policies and programs on the protection of women; (2) the concept and practice of policy advocacy; (3) issues of violence and protection of women; (4) technical public speaking and lobby strategy, and (5) public opinion and press release materials. The results of the training evaluation resulted in an increase in knowledge and skills for participants after following the entire set of materials provided. Recommendations for activities are suggested to immediately take more concrete action in the form of policy advocacy to encourage the issuance of the Regional Regulation (Perda) of Maros Regency concerning Protection of Women from Violence.
