The indistinguishability of quantum particles is widely used as a resource for the generation of entanglement. Linear quantum networks (LQNs), in which identical particles linearly evolve to arrive at multimode detectors, exploit the indistinguishability to generate various multipartite entangled states by the proper control of transformation operators. However, it is challenging to devise a suitable LQN that carries a specific entangled state or compute the possible entangled state in a given LQN as the particle and mode number increase. This research presents a mapping process of arbitrary LQNs to graphs, which provides a powerful tool for analyzing and designing LQNs to generate multipartite entanglement. We also introduce the perfect matching diagram (PM diagram), which is a refined directed graph that includes all the essential information on the entanglement generation by an LQN. The PM diagram furnishes rigorous criteria for the entanglement of an LQN and solid guidelines for designing suitable LQNs for the genuine entanglement. Based on the structure of PM diagrams, we compose LQNs for fundamental N-partite genuinely entangled states.

Abstract: Ultrasonic measurements of samarium soaps (palmitate and myristate) have been carried out in a mixture of benzene and DMSO (70%-30% v/v) to determine the critical micellar concentration(CMC), soap-solvent interaction and various acoustic parameters. The results show that ultrasonic velocity, intermolecular free length, adiabatic compressibility, adiabatic molar volume and apparent molar compressibility decrease while specific acoustic impedance, relative association and solvation number increase with increase in soap concentration. The results of ultrasonic measurements have also been explained in terms of well-known equations. Keywords: Ultrasonic measurements, molecular interactions, samarium soaps, compressibility, critical micellar concentration(CMC).

Abstract Background CCND1 copy number increase is characteristic of acral melanoma and is useful in distinguishing benign and malignant acral melanocytic lesions. Increase of the gene copy number may result in protein overexpression. This raises the possibility that detection of high expression of cyclin D1 by immunohistochemistry (IHC) may be used as a surrogate for direct evaluation of increase in the CCND1 gene copy number. Methods We examined increases in CCND1 copy number with fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and examined cyclin D1 protein expression with IHC in 61 acral melanomas. Results Using FISH, 29 acral melanomas (29/61, 47.5%) showed increase in the CCND1 copy number, including 8 (8/61, 13.1%) which showed low-level increase in the CCND1 copy number and 21 (21/61, 34.4%) with high-level increase in the CCND1 copy number. By analysis of IHC, the median IHC score was 15% (range: 1–80%) in acral melanomas with no CCND1 copy number alteration. In acral melanomas with low-level CCND1 copy number increase, the median IHC score was 25% (range: 3–90%). In acral melanomas with high-level CCND1 copy number increase, the median IHC score was 60% (range: 1–95%). Comparing FISH and IHC, cyclin D1 protein expression level has no corelation with the CCND1 copy number in acral melanomas which have no CCND1 copy number alteration and low-level CCND1 copy number increase (P = 0.108). Cyclin D1 protein expression level correlated positively with CCND1 copy number in acral melanomas with high-level CCND1 copy number increase (P = 0.038). The sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive value of using cyclin D1 IHC to predict CCND1 FISH result was 72.4, 62.5 and 63.6%. Increase in CCND1 copy number was associated with Breslow thickness in invasive acral melanoma. Conclusion High-level increase in the CCND1 copy number can induce high cyclin D1 protein expression in acral melanomas. However low-level increase and normal CCND1 copy number have no obvious correlation with protein expression. Cyclin D1 IHC cannot serve as a surrogate for CCND1 FISH in acral melanomas.

AimsFGFR1 is located on 8p11.23 and regulates cell proliferation and survival. Increased copy number of FGFR1 is found in several cancers including cancer of the breast. ZNF703 is located close to FGFR1 at 8p11-12 and is frequently expressed in the luminal B subtype of breast cancer. Using tissue samples from a well-described cohort of patients with breast cancer with long-term follow-up, we studied associations between FGFR1 copy number in primary breast cancer tumours and axillary lymph node metastases, and proliferation status, molecular subtype and prognosis. Furthermore, we studied associations between copy number increase of FGFR1 and copy number of ZNF703.MethodsWe used fluorescence in situ hybridisation for FGFR1 and the chromosome 8 centromere applied to tissue microarray sections from a series of 534 breast cancer cases.ResultsWe found increased copy number (≥4) of FGFR1 in 74 (13.9%) of tumours. Only 6 of the 74 cases with increased copy number were non-luminal. Increased FGFR1 copy number was significantly associated with high Ki-67 status, high mitotic count and high histopathological grade, but not with prognosis. Forty-two (7.9%) cases had mean copy number ≥6. Thirty of these showed ZNF708 copy number ≥6.ConclusionsOur results show that FGFR1 copy number increase is largely found among luminal subtypes of breast cancer, particularly luminal B (HER2−). It is frequently accompanied by increased copy number of ZNF703. FGFR1 copy number increase is associated with high histopathological grade and high proliferation. However, we did not discover an association with prognosis.

Heat transfer characteristics and hydrodynamical properties of ferrofluid through microchannels with non-uniform permeable walls temperature and filled with porous media plays an important role in modern microfluidic applications, such as solar collectors, nuclear reactors, micro-electro-chemical cell transport, micro heat exchanging, microchip cooling, and electronic equipment. Therefore, this paper presents the investigation of ferrofluid (Fe3O4-H2O) heat transfer characteristics as well as hydrodynamical properties in a permeable microchannel with non-uniform permeable walls. The semi-discretization finite difference method is utilized to solve the highly non-linear partial differential equations that govern the momentum and energy equations. Accordingly, the numerical outcomes reveal that the ferrofluid velocity and temperature profiles indicate a rising trend as the pressure gradient parameter, the variable viscosity parameter, the Darcy number, the Eckert number, and Prandtl number increase. The Reynolds number, which is a suction/injection parameter, shows a contrary influence on the ferrofluid velocity and temperature whereas nanoparticles volume fraction and the Forchheimer constant show a decreasing effect on the ferrofluid velocity and temperature. The outcomes also depict that the coefficient of skin friction at the cold wall of the microchannel is larger for higher values of the nanoparticles volume fraction, the variable viscosity parameter, the Darcy number, and the Eckert number. Besides, the coefficient of skin friction at the hot wall rises with the Darcy number, and the Prandtl number. Furthermore, the heat transfer rate at both cold and hot walls of the microchannel increases as the variable viscosity parameter, the Darcy number, the Eckert number, and the Prandtl number increase. The nanoparticles volume fraction and Darcy number show a retarding effect on the heat transfer rate at both walls of the microchannel.

Abstract Purpose The degree of cell proliferation is important for subclassification of breast cancers into prognostic and therapeutic groups. DTX3 has been identified as a driver of proliferation in luminal breast cancer. In this study, we describe DTX3 copy number in breast cancer primary tumours and corresponding axillary lymph node metastases, and studied associations with molecular subtype, proliferation and prognosis. Methods Using fluorescence in situ hybridization, we assessed DTX3 and chromosome 12 centromere (CEP12) copy number in 542 primary breast cancers and 117 lymph node metastases, from a well-described cohort of Norwegian breast cancer patients. Proliferation was expressed as mitotic counts and Ki67 score. Associations between DTX3 copy number and molecular subtype and proliferation were assessed using Pearson’s χ2 test. We studied the effect of copy number increase on prognosis estimating cumulative incidence of breast cancer death and hazard ratios. Results Mean DTX3 copy number ≥ 4 was found in 23 tumours (4%), and mean ≥ 5 in 9 tumours (1.7%). Copy number increase was found within all molecular subtypes except the 5 negative phenotype and the Luminal B (HER2 +) subtype. DTX3 copy number increase was not accompanied by an increase in CEP12. Point estimates showed that there were associations between DTX3 copy number increase and high proliferation and poor prognosis; however, precision depended on copy number cut-off. Conclusions DTX3 copy number increase was present in a small proportion of breast cancer cases. There was an association between copy number increase and high tumour cell proliferation and poor prognosis.

The characteristics of the domain of multiple filamentation of femtosecond laser pulses in air were estimated based on the single filamentation model. As the single filamentation model, the diffraction-ray model is considered. It is based on the representation of a laser beam as a set of diffraction-ray tubes nested in each other that do not intersect in space and do not exchange energy with each other. In this situation changes in tubes shape and cross section during propagation demonstrate the effect of physical processes that occur with radiation in the medium. It is shown that the use of this model for interpreting experimental results and predicting effects is effective. In particular, it was demonstrated that the radius of small-scale intensity inhomogeneities in the profile of a centimeter laser beam, forming the domain of multiple filamentation of subterawatt femtosecond laser pulses, is several millimeters. The power in these inhomogeneities varies from several units to several tens of gigawatts. Telescoping the initial laser beam, leading to an increase in its radius, also expands the sizes of the initial small-scale intensity inhomogeneities and reduces the power contained in them. As a result of this, the coordinate of the filamentation beginning shifts along the path from the source of laser pulses. As the peak power in the beam increases, the length of the filaments and their number increase.

Furniture for a long time has been an integral component of human activity, recreation and everyday life. Its design, diversity and versatility along with the development of human civilization is increasingly becoming the object of further improvement. At present furniture production in Ukraine is the developing industry, gradually entering the European market in terms of quality and design. European furniture market is extremely attractive to operators and, therefore, has dynamics towards the competitor number increase. One of the factors of increasing the industry attractiveness is the support of amendments to the Law of Ukraine «On peculiarities of state regulation of business entities related to the sale and export of timber» by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in April 2015, which imposed temporary, gradual prohibition on the export of raw timber (forest logs) for 10 years. The corresponding partial prohibition entered into force on 11.01.2015, and complete prohibition (including pine wood) - from January 1, 2017. The consequences of this moratorium during the first five years of its operation, which is important in the context of politicization of this problem are analyzed in this paper. The dynamics and structure of the amount of enterprises in industry and the number of employees employed in them are investigated. The volume of furniture industry sales in general and the areas of their implementation (internal or external markets) are analyzed. The next stage is the analysis of the dynamics of the ratio of furniture products exports and imports in Ukraine and determination of the major exporters of such products. The final stage is the investigation of the dynamics of foreign direct investments in the enterprises capital share in this industry in order to identify its investment attractiveness. As a result, it is determined that the introduced moratorium has partial positive impact on the development of furniture industry in Ukraine. However, at present, the furniture industry is not attractive enough for new foreign investment. This is the consequence of significant amount of «shadow» production, which in its turn destabilizes the situation in the furniture market. Ukrainian manufacturers will be able to strengthen their position in domestic market and even abroad, if they solve the main problems in furniture production and eliminate all disincentives.
