Bio Fuels are considered as good alternatives for conventional fossil fuels. By the year 2020, in the GCC region these fuels are able to meet around 0.5 - 1% of total transportation fuel demand. This industry grew at rate of 3.4% over the period of 2015-2020 with a strong projected growth in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Bio fuels are used to operate automotive for mining and construction industries. Critical barriers in foreign investments pose a major challenge for growth of this sector in the GCC region. The presented work discusses situation and growth predictions of Bio-Fuel industry in the GCC region. It also discusses about current growth, trends, opportunities and challenges being faced by major companies operating in the GCC region.

This paper investigates the role of civil society (CS) in relation to issues of global concern, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, it focuses on the role of CS in the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). Western CS has, over time, shown certain limitations that have exposed it to a number of criticisms, while in BRICS, CS could begin to play a decisive role as a “historical bloc,” using Gramsci’s expression. In fact, BRICS has repeatedly reiterated that it wants to reshape global governance (GG), and indeed its current growth has shown that it could effectively do so. Therefore, it is worth analyzing what role CS plays in this process. This analysis leads to an understanding of the many advances, and also the diverse limitations, that characterize the effectiveness of the work of CS in the BRICS countries. Thus, CS’s ability to be decisive in policymaking remains unclear. The argument in this paper proceeds as follows: some classical theories on CS are analyzed, highlighting the ethical tasks in which CS should be engaged; then, criticisms directed toward western CS are debated. Finally, the limitations and potential that CS has in the BRICS countries is considered, above all in light of the recent response to COVID-19. The conclusions highlight the fact that, if the BRICS countries want to play a leading role in GG and, broadly speaking, in future multilateralism, CS must play a decisive role within them. Specifically, a solid cooperation, or even a stable alliance, is needed between the civil societies of BRICS countries in order to address pressing issues and demands coming from the Global South.

The presence of trees brings several health benefits to urban populations. However, wind damage is an important cause of falling trees, causing considerable damages. This study involved a bibliometric review on the use of Internet of Things technologies for monitoring trees. A research protocol was designed and implemented, involving a thorough search of the Scopus database. After applying the exclusion criteria and content filters, the abstracts and titles of the resulting 313 documents were analyzed. Two analyses were performed; (i) an analysis of the evolution of the area based on the study metadata; (ii) a cluster analysis of the words present in the abstracts and titles of the identified documents. The first analysis showed: (i) the current growth of this area of research; (ii) that the most important fields of study were agricultural, biological, environmental, and terrestrial and planetary sciences; (iii) that the most relevant journal was Ecology and Forest Management. The second analysis resulted in the identification of three clusters: (i) wind impact; (ii) variables and experiments; (iii) forest management. The main gap observed was that few studies have used IoT technologies as tools for preventive or corrective actions related to wind and storm impacts on trees and forests.

To study the appearance of incompatibility in adult graft trees, we studied the anatomical characteristics ofconducting phloem and sapwood in 55-year-old scions of Pinus sibirica Du Tour and Pinus cembra L. and their rootstocks –Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). It was found that in all variants the width of the sapwood in the rootstock is significantlyhigher than in the scion; however, when only the early tracheids are taken into account, the differences between the scionand the rootstock are not significant, and the total width of the early tracheids from the sapwood is some higher in theP. cembra trees. In the place of rootstock and scion union, the width of the rootstock sapwood decreases due to a decreasein the proportion of late tracheids, while the sapwood of the scion remains almost unchanged. The variability of the sapwood width in scions and rootstocks of the P. cembra is lower and it is less sensitive to the reduction of increments thanin the P. sibirica, it indicates interspecific differences. The average width of the conducting phloem for the growing seasonalso varies less in the P. cembra, and in individuals of the P. sibirica with small xylem increments it approaches the widthof the current xylem increment. The relationship between the width of the conducting phloem and the width of the sapwood is weak; the width of the phloem depends more on the current growth of the xylem. The quantitative differencesin the width of the sapwood and the conducting phloem make it possible to judge the preservation of their species-specificity during long-term coexistence of the scion and the rootstock, as well as the effect of the scion on to the rootstock.

Abstract Purpose Bone health is compromised in acromegaly resulting in vertebral fractures (VFs), regardless of biochemical remission. Sclerostin is a negative inhibitor of bone formation and is associated with increased fracture risk in the general population. Therefore, we compared sclerostin concentrations between well-controlled acromegaly patients and healthy controls, and assessed its relationship with bone mineral density (BMD), and VFs in acromegaly. Methods Seventy-nine patients (mean age 58.9 ± 11.4 years, 49% women) with controlled acromegaly, and 91 healthy controls (mean age 51.1 ± 16.9 years, 59% women) were included. Plasma sclerostin levels (pg/mL) in patients were measured with an ELISA assay, whereas in controls, serum levels were converted to plasma levels by multiplication with 3.6. In patients, VFs were radiographically assessed, and BMD was assessed using dual X-ray absorptiometry. Results Median sclerostin concentration in controlled acromegaly patients was significantly lower than in healthy controls (104.5 pg/mL (range 45.7–234.7 pg/mL) vs 140.0 pg/mL (range 44.8–401.6 pg/mL), p < 0.001). Plasma sclerostin levels were not related to age, current growth hormone (GH) or insulin-like factor-1 (IGF-1) levels, gonadal state, treatment modality, remission duration, or BMD, VF presence, severity or progression. Conclusion Patients with long-term controlled acromegaly have lower plasma sclerostin levels than healthy controls, as a reflection of decreased osteocyte activity. Further longitudinal studies are needed to establish the course of sclerostin during different phases of disease and its exact effects in acromegalic osteopathy.

The growth state of flowers is affected by many factors such as temperature, humidity, and light. Therefore, the maintenance of flowers often requires more professional knowledge. Ordinary people are often at a loss when face with various flower representations and do not know where the problem is. In response to the above problems, this article proposes the use of deep learning to identify the growth status of flowers to assist people in successfully raising flowers. In this article, we propose that the mainstream convolutional neural network has the limitation of only inputting images. In terms of network input, data of the current growth environment of flowers will also be input to supplement the input data of the network. In view of the lack of information interaction in the network, in terms of network structure, the shallow and deep characteristics of the network are integrated to make the network performance more advantageous. Experiments show that this method can effectively improve the recognition rate of flower growth status, so as to correctly distinguish the current growth status of flowers.

E-commerce is a form of running business using information and communication technologies. E-commerce objects include not only traditional types of services and goods, but also informational ones. In general, the trends in e-commerce development in Russia can be regarded as positive. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic affects everything, including spending money and interaction of firms in the marketplace. Current trends indicate an acceleration in digitalization, both in the private and public sectors. Therefore, in the future, only the online seller will have success whose business will be digitized and optimized as much as possible. At the same time, the transition of firms and consumers to the electronic segment is associated with certain costs and risks. This aspect requires serious attention from both academic economists and authorities; competent, but not excessive, intervention is required. In this article, the authors reveal both the positive and negative aspects of running e-business from the point of view of sellers and buyers, and also offer their own views on the e-commerce market development in the context of mass digitalization accelerated due to the coronavirus crisis. Provided that the rate of Internet penetration in the regions remains at the same level, e-commerce in Russia will be able to maintain the current growth rate and realize its potential as an important trading platform for both domestic and foreign economic agents.

In engineering, the interdisciplinary essence of the Computing and Natural Science (CNS) as well as its relations with other fields are described. This paper presents a discussion of the phases by which CNS education evolve from the recognition of initial growth in the '80's to current growth. The limitations and potential benefits of varying CNS education methodologies are addressed, and so is the advancement of the number of the foundational elements, which are common to most strategies. The CNS course content, grades and curriculum are examined and all bachelors’ programs are surveyed. The curricula of the various programs are examined and discussed for their relative weighting for the standard "toolkit."
