AbstractThe paper explores tourists’ smartphone-related information behavior on site in light of the concept of “planned serendipity”. The ability to gather information at anytime and anywhere can deeply influence tourists’ behavior, their information needs and the outcomes of their travel plans. In this study, the concept of planned serendipity is used to suggest that the outcome of travel information behavior on site is not entirely planned nor entirely serendipitous. The study employs the Experience Sampling Method (ESM) in combination with qualitative interviews, which allow the researcher to gather data both during the participants’ trip and afterwards. The thematic analysis resulted in four main themes related to information search connected to smartphone use: flexible plans; orientation in time and space; specificity of the query; aiming for optimization. Such conditions result in planned serendipity. The study thus contributes to the conceptualization of planned serendipity as an outcome of smartphone use during travel for information purposes.

Abstract Due to the heterogeneous characteristics of vehicles and user terminals, information in mixed traffic scenarios can be interacted based on the Web protocol of different terminals. The recommendation system can dig users' travel preferences by analyzing historical travel information of different traffic participants, to publish accurate travel information and services for the terminals of traffic participants. The diversification of existing road network users and networking modes, as well as the dynamic changes of user interest distribution caused by high-speed movement of vehicles, traditional collaborative filtering algorithms have limitations in terms of effectiveness. This paper proposes a novel Hybrid Tag-aware Recommender Model (HTRM). The model embedding layer first employs the Word2vec model to represent the tags and ratings of projects and users, respectively. The feature layer then introduces the auto-encoder to extract self-similar features of the item, and a long short-term memory (LSTM) network is used to extract user behavior characteristics to provide higher-quality recommendations. The gating layer combines the features of users and projects and then makes score recommendations based on the Fully Connected Neural Network (FCNN). Finally, Web data sets of different service preferences of traffic participants during the trip are used to evaluate the model recommendation performance in different scenarios. The experimental results show that the HTRM model is reasonable in design and can achieve high recommendation accuracy.

Recommender systems have been applied on a variety of applications including movies, music, news, books, research articles, search queries, and travel information. Instead of searching travel information from the extremely huge amount of travel data, a personalized travel recommender system is desired. However, an inappropriate travel recommendation may result from a wrong season, even if it is already a correct location. The current recommender systems from time to time make an inappropriate commendation without considering the seasonal factor. In order to resolve the discrepancy, the seasonal factor should have been taken into consideration when making a good travel recommender system. Therefore, this study has taken the trend analysis, time series, and seasonal factor into considerations to cope with the above mentioned discrepancy and to make the travel recommender system renders a better fit.

Coronavirus has changed many activities and sectors, but nowhere else are they as accelerated, visible and direct as in the tourism industry. Travel restrictions due to the health crisis have severely damaged tourism, which has made an important contribution to any economy. As of April 2020, the aviation industry reports an 80% decline in flights compared to the same period in 2019. Depending on the duration of the crisis, the considered possibilities show that the potential decline varies between 60-80% in the international tourism economy in 2021. The aim of this study is to examine the negative impact of COVID-19 on airlines and international tourism. A number of universally valid scientific methods are applied in scientific research – observation, analysis, synthesis, analogy, comparison and others. The result of the research is the specific measures for the development of tourism, related to health protocols for safe travel, information applications for visitors, campaigns to promote domestic tourism and a plan to restore tourism in destinations by promoting innovation and investment.

In this paper, an investigation is being made over the tendency of air flights rate around the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 considering all the negative effects in limiting tourist mobility. There is an attempt to support the customer activities in tourism through travel information portals with suitably extended marketing strategies some of which are being effectively applied in this study. These include but are not limited to active maintenance of Facebook page, weekly Newsletters, and others which prove to be stimulating the user’s interests as some of the presented statistics show.

The continuous and in-depth development of smart technology has brought new development opportunities and challenges to the development of the tourism industry. This research mainly discusses the design of ethnic minority tourism information services and sustainable tourism development in the context of smart cities. The smart tourism public service application system must meet the three major requirements of different service objects. One is a smart service system aimed at satisfying tourists’ travel information services. The second is to meet the needs of tourism companies for online marketing and e-commerce on the platform. The third is to provide a platform for the government to master travel information and supervise the travel market to realize e-government management. Therefore, the smart tourism application system includes three aspects: service, market, and management. The smart tourism service module is a module that the platform provides tourists with “eating, accommodation, transportation, travel, shopping, and entertainment” tourism information inquiry and consulting services and also uses modern information technology to provide navigation, tour guide, and shopping guide services in tourism. The smart tourism marketing module is the corporate product display, image promotion, and platform sales services provided by the platform for tourism companies. The smart tourism management module provides tourism management departments with services for managing various types of tourism information on the platform, platform security operations, and emergency response systems. As an ethnic minority region, the total tourism revenue of M city in 2020 will reach 75.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.33%. This research will highlight the unique charm of ethnic minorities and help drive the economic development of one party.

Continuous sensing of water parameters is of great importance to fluid dynamic progress study in oceans, coastal areas and inland waters. The acoustic tomography technique can perform water temperature field measurements horizontally and vertically using sound wave travel information. The layer-averaged water temperature can also be measured with the acoustic tomography method. However, investigations focusing on the stratified mechanism, which consists of stratification form and its influence on inversion error, are seldom performed. In this study, an acoustic tomography experiment was carried out in a reservoir along two vertical slices to observe the layer-averaged water temperature. Specifically, multi-path sound travel information is identified through ray tracing using high-precision topography data obtained via a ship-mounted ADCP during the experiment. Vertical slices between sound stations are divided into different layers to study layer division inversion methods in different preset types. The inversion method is used to calculate the average water temperature and inversion temperature error of every layer. Different layer methods are studied with a comparison of results. The layer division principle studied in this paper can be used for layer-averaged water temperature sensing with multi-path sound transmission information.
