The objective of this work is to introduce Quentin Meillassoux's 'speculative materialist realism', establishing a critical stance against the metaphysical tradition of the 'absolute' that has prevailed in post-Kantian Western philosophy, based on the need for contingency that he proposes. This implies making a critique of what has been understood as realism, necessity and existing. To do this, key concepts of Meillassoux's philosophy are broken down, exemplifying its influence -and possible presence back in time- on other thinkers and artists in their respective narratives such as Graham Harman, Timothy Morton, Nick Land, and Florian Hecker, who delve into issues that generate discomfort, amazement, nihilism and pessimism in contemporary societies, such as probability and prediction in financial markets, the Anthropocene and nature, the conflictive relationship between subject and object, truth and chaos, between other things, subtracting ourselves from the humanist discourse on which the scientific, financial and environmental paradigms of our time rest and which have ended up cracking the identity of man, with capitalist production being the most determining geological factor. Let us to reflect on the following questions. What narratives can give an account of the current condition of the world? What narratives emerge when we stop focusing our attention on man? What habits of thought force us to change the awareness that everything around us is contingent?

The vertical tunneling method is an emerging technique to build sewage inlets or outlets in constructed horizontal tunnels. The jacking force used to drive the standpipes upward is an essential factor during the construction process. This study aims to predict the jacking forces during the vertical tunneling construction process through two intelligence systems, namely, artificial neural networks (ANNs) and hybrid genetic algorithm optimized ANNs (GA-ANNs). In this paper, the Beihai hydraulic tunnel constructed by the vertical tunneling method in China is introduced, and the direct shear tests have been conducted. A database composed of 546 datasets with ten inputs and one output was prepared. The effective parameters are classified into three categories, including tunnel geometry factors, the geological factor, and jacking operation factors. These factors are considered as input parameters. The tunnel geometry factors include the jacking distance, the thickness of overlaying soil, and the height of overlaying water; the geological factor refers to the geological conditions; and the jacking operation factors consist of the dead weight of standpipes, effective overburden soil pressure, effective lateral soil pressure, average jacking speed, construction hours, and soil weakening measure. The output parameter, on the other hand, refers to the jacking force. Performance indices, including the coefficient of determination (R2), root mean square error (RMSE), and the absolute value of relative error (RE), are computed to compare the performance of the ANN models and the GA-ANN models. Comparison results show that the GA-ANN models perform better than the ANN model, especially on the RMSE values. Finally, parametric sensitivity analysis between the input parameters and output parameter is conducted, reaching the result that the height of overlaying water, the average jacking speed, and the geological condition are the most effective input parameters on the jacking force in this study.

Evaluating the susceptibility of regional landslides is one of the core steps in spatial landslide prediction. Starting from multiresolution image segmentation and object-oriented classification theory, this paper uses the four parameters of entropy, energy, correlation, and contrast from remote-sensing images in the Zigui–Badong section of Three Gorges Reservoir as image texture factors; the original image data for the study area were divided into 2279 objects after segmentation. According to the various indicators of the existing historical landslide database in the Three Gorges Reservoir area, combined with the classification processing steps for different types of multistructured data, the relevant geological evaluation factors, including the slope gradient, slope structure, and engineering rock group, were rated based on expert experience. From the perspective of the object-oriented segmentation of multiresolution images and geological factor rating classification, the C5.0 decision tree susceptibility classification model was constructed for the prediction of four types of landslide susceptibility units in the Zigui–Badong section. The mapping results show that the engineering rock group of a high-susceptibility unit usually develops in soft rock or soft–hard interphase rock groups, and the slope is between 15°–30°. The model results show that the average accuracy is 91.64%, and the kappa coefficients are 0.84 and 0.51, indicating that the C5.0 decision tree algorithm provides good accuracy and can clearly divide landslide susceptibility levels for a specific area, respectively. This landslide susceptibility classification, based on multiresolution image segmentation and geological factor classification, has potential applicability.

Coal and coal by-products are considered as the potential raw materials for critical elements (e.g., rare earth elements, Li, Ga, Ge, etc.), which have attracted much attention in recent years. The purpose of this study is to investigate the mineralogical and geochemical characteristics, and controlling geological factors of lithium and rare earth elements in the Lopingian (Wujiaping Formation) coal from the Donggou Mine, southeastern Chongqing Coalfield, China. Results indicate that lithium and rare earth elements are significantly enriched in the Donggou coals, which could be new potential alternative sources for critical elements. Concentrations of lithium and rare earth elements in the Donggou coals gradually increase from top to bottom. Lithium is mainly associated with kaolinite, while rhabdophane, florencite, goyazite, and xenotime are the main hosts of rare earth elements. The controlling geological factor is the groundwater leaching of underlying tuff, and to a lesser extent, the terrigenous clastic materials input from the top layer of the Kangdian Upland. This study provides mineralization information for lithium and rare earth elements exploration in coal measures.

Under. In this paper, the author characterizes the conceptual foundations of building the philosophy of the bio-elelectic sphere as a theoretical construct, which development will allow revealing the essential aspects of the strategy of rational socio-natural development, determining the directions for its subsequent implementation. "Biotelectectosphere (bios - life, sphaira - sphere, Latin intellectus - intellect) – the sphere of intelligent organization of life – the stage of development of the biosphere, where human activity will be aimed at preserving and maintaining the conditions necessary for the optimal existence of life – the geological factor, which is the initial prerequisite for the emergence and existence of mankind

The paper deals with the fact that gassing of the East inclined longwall (EIL) # 3 of the m3 bed at the «O.F. Zasiadko mine» are caused by a combination of mining-geological conditions. The main geological factor is the presence of a synclinal fold, characterized by increased fracturing. The map construction of local structures, the use of gravity data and seismological observations allow to effectively isolate gas-saturated zones and, therefore, correct degassing projects and parameters of ways to prepare workings.
