The premise of this book is that applying principles of electromagnetic (EM) resonant coherence to the media field is the key to generating a more harmonious culture. The advent of new types of sensors, quite affordable and increasingly sensitive, now provides an easy way to measure frequencies and rhythms of the body and to create applications that visualize brain waves and waves extracted from cardiac parameters. The term “coherence” used in physics defines the correlations of a wave system. More recently, this term has been used increasingly to define an inner state of “centering” and harmony that presents as relaxation, stress management, deep meditation, and state of transcendent bliss. The craniosacral approach provides important information on how that can be achieved.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our lives in many different ways. One significant impact on daily life was the increased indoor time due to quarantine measures. Data collected suggests video games have become more popular than ever during these unprecedented times (Epstein, 2020). This study aims to explore the experiences and psychosocial well-being of individuals who played single and multiplayer video games during the pandemic. Data was collected through a questionnaire distributed to multiple online communities and forums from June 28th to July 29th, 2021. The total collected responses were n=260. 132 participants identified themselves as playing mostly single-player video games and 128 identified themselves as playing mostly multiplayer games. The results show during the pandemic individuals spent more time playing both types of video games. Motivations for playing single-player games trended towards decreasing anxiety and stress, and avoiding real life, whereas multiplayer motivations tended to trend towards socialization rather than decreasing stress or anxiety. During the pandemic, 40-50% of single and multiplayer gamers indicated decreased mental health. However, both types of players reported improvement in mental and social well-being while playing video games. More multiplayer gamers reported improved social well-being while playing compared to single-player gamers. The survey respondents tended to report having more positive experiences with single-player and multiplayer video games during the pandemic. Results presented video games as a way for individuals to socialize or decrease stress and anxiety. In addition, the comparison between the two types of gamers revealed that single-player respondents tended to play for relaxation, stress reduction, and perhaps improvement in mental health, while multiplayer gamers play to increase social interaction and improve social well-being. Further research is needed to explore the long-term effects of video games during the pandemic after everyone has returned to a pre-pandemic state.

Micro mechanism consideration is critical for gaining a thorough understanding of amorphous shear band behavior in magnetorheological (MR) solids, particularly those with viscoelastic matrices. Heretofore, the characteristics of shear bands in terms of formation, physical evolution, and response to stress distribution at the localized region have gone largely unnoticed and unexplored. Notwithstanding these limitations, atomic force microscopy (AFM) has been used to explore the nature of shear band deformation in MR materials during stress relaxation. Stress relaxation at a constant low strain of 0.01% and an oscillatory shear of defined test duration played a major role in the creation of the shear band. In this analysis, the localized area of the study defined shear bands as varying in size and dominantly deformed in the matrix with no evidence of inhibition by embedded carbonyl iron particles (CIPs). The association between the shear band and the adjacent zone was further studied using in-phase imaging of AFM tapping mode and demonstrated the presence of localized affected zone around the shear band. Taken together, the results provide important insights into the proposed shear band deformation zone (SBDZ). This study sheds a contemporary light on the contentious issue of amorphous shear band deformation behavior and makes several contributions to the current literature.

The periodontal ligament (PDL) exhibits different material mechanical properties along the long axis of the teeth. To explore the creep and the relaxation effects of dissimilar layers of PDL, this paper took the central incisors of porcine mandibular as experimental subjects and divided them perpendicular to the teeth axis into five layers. Creep experiments and relaxation experiments on five layers were conducted to obtain the creep compliance and relaxation modulus at different layers. Linear elastic model, generalized Kelvin model, and generalized Maxwell model were used to describe the major characteristics of the PDL: Instantaneous elasticity, creep and relaxation. Fitting accuracy of three-parameter, five-parameter, and seven-parameter of the model was compared, and the constitutive equations of different layers were established by the least square method. The results presented that the creep strain and the relaxation stress of PDL were exponentially correlated with time under different loading conditions. Different layers showed a significant effect on the creep strain and relaxation stress of PDL. Along the long axis of the teeth, the changing rule of the creep compliance and relaxation modulus of each layer showed quite the contrary, and the instantaneous elastic modulus first decreased to the minimum, then increased to the maximum. Higher instantaneous elastic modulus led to lower creep compliance and higher relaxation modulus. The generalized Kelvin model and the generalized Maxwell model well characterized the creep and relaxation properties of PDL. Fitting accuracy increased with the number of model parameters. The relaxation time of PDL was about one order of magnitude shorter than the creep retardation time, which indicated that the relaxation effect lasted shorter than the creep effect.

Jakarta is a city that is included in the 150 most stressful cities in the world and Jakarta is in the 6th position as the most stressful city in the world. Stress has become an inherent issue in big cities and Jakarta is one of these cities. People in Indonesia, especially in Jakarta, still underestimate mental health. Because people who experience and feel stress do not have the right place to treat stress. So that the impact of untreated stress can have a negative impact on the individual and the people around. By providing a place to pay more attention to stress problems in Jakarta, it is hoped that people will no longer be taboo in consulting and treating stress problems experienced by someone. So that the relaxation station is a program that is offered to provide a healing process for people who are experiencing stress, especially in the city of Jakarta, so that people who undergo the healing process at this relaxation station are expected to achieve mental and physical relaxation and can reduce significant stress levels for their visitors. The use of the biophilic design method in this design is very important in healing to reduce stress levels in a person. Apart from using the biophilic design method, the concept of architecture and the sense is also used where this concept involves the human senses to participate in reducing stress mentally and psychologically.

In mammals, serotonin (5-HT) levels depend on the availability of tryptophan (TRP). Low 5-HT concentrations have been linked to behavioural disorders in dogs. This study aimed at investigating possible differences in dogs’ serum TRP and 5-HT concentrations according to their behavioural response to a potentially stressful procedure. Thirty-nine physically healthy shelter dogs, 15 females and 24 males, mean age = 5.6 years, were categorized by a certified veterinary behaviourist according to their behavioural response to medical examination and blood collection, in: relaxation, stress signals, tension without growling, tension with growling, escape attempts, and aggression attempts. Extraction and quantification of 5-HT and TRP were performed using a HLPC method. Data were statistically analysed, applying Chi-square and Spearman tests. Results showed no significant difference in TRP (χ2 = 2.084, p = 0.555) nor 5-HT (χ2 = 0.972, p = 0.808) serum concentrations among different categories of dogs; however, some categories were underrepresented (relaxation = 20.5%, stress signals = 30.8%, tension without growling = 43.6%, tension with growling = 5.1%, escape attempts = 0%, aggression attempts = 0%). No correlation between serum TRP and 5-HT concentrations was found (ρ = 0.086, p = 0.602). Serum 5-HT levels do not seem to be associated with dogs’ behavioural response to a stressful situation nor with serum TRP concentrations. The relationship between serum TRP and 5-HT concentrations and behaviour needs further research.

Abstract We report closed-form formulas to calculate the incremental-deposition stress, the elastic relaxation stress, and the residual stress in a finite-thickness film from a wafer-curvature measurement. The calculation shows how the incremental deposition of a new stressed layer to the film affects the amount of the film/wafer curvature and the stress state of the previously deposited layers. The formulas allow the incremental-deposition stress and the elastic relaxation to be correctly calculated from the slope of the measured curvature versus thickness for arbitrary thicknesses and biaxial moduli of the film and the substrate. Subtraction of the cumulative elastic relaxation from the incremental-deposition stress history results in the residual stress left in the film after the whole deposition process. The validities of the formulas are confirmed by curvature measurements of electrodeposited Ni films on substrates with different thicknesses.

In this study, a controllable tactile device capable of realizing repulsive forces from soft human tissues was proposed, and its effectiveness was verified through experimental tests. The device was fabricated using both porous polyurethane foam (PPF) and smart magnetorheological fluid (MRF). As a first step, the microstructural behavior of MRF particle chains that depended on the magnetic field was examined via scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The test samples were then fabricated after analyzing the magnetic field distribution, which was crucial for the formation of the particle chains under the squeeze mode operation. In the fabrication of the samples, MRF was immersed into the porous polyurethane foam and encapsulated by adhesive tape to avoid leakage. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed tactile device for appropriate stiffness of soft human tissues such as liver, the repulsive force and relaxation stress were measured and discussed as a function of the magnetic field intensity. In addition, the effectiveness and practical applicability of the proposed tactile device have been validated through the psychophysical test.

Keywords : progressive muscle relaxation, stress, kecemasan, cortisol, mahasiswa
