Crime is all kinds of actions and actions that are economically and psychologically harmful that violate the laws in force in the State of Indonesia as well as social and religious norms. Ordinary criminal acts affect the security of the community and threaten their inner and outer peace. The research location is the Mentawai Islands Police, which is an agency that can provide security and protection for the community, especially those in the Mentawai Islands Regency. The problem is that it is difficult for the Mentawai Islands Police to classify areas that are prone to crime in the most vulnerable, moderately vulnerable and not vulnerable categories. Especially considering the condition of the Mentawai, there are four large islands consisting of 10 sub-districts, where crime is increasing every year, especially those in the Mentawai Islands Regency area such as motor vehicle theft. Based on the background of the problem above, the researcher is interested in taking research in creating a system to predict the crime rate in the Mentawai Islands Regency in order to anticipate the surge in crime that will come. The method used is the K-Means Clustering Algorithm as a non-hierarchical data clustering method to partition existing data into one or more clusters or groups. This method partitions data into clusters so that data with the same characteristics are grouped into the same cluster and data with different characteristics are grouped into other clusters. Clustering is one of the data mining techniques used to get groups of objects that have common characteristics in large enough data. The data used is data on cases of criminal theft of motor vehicles for the last 5 years from 2016 to 2020. The results of the test show that South Sipora District is an area prone to the crime of motor vehicle theft.

This study explain how the dynamics of resistance actors from the resistance movement over the control of forest resources of the Mentawai indigenous people on the island of Siberut, Mentawai islands, West Sumatra. The primary data in this study are the results of interviews with the authors in the field, as well as secondary data from books, international and national journals, as well as related official documents. The author concludes that there is no significant resistance due to the lack of solidarity and sense of belonging to the customary forest due to the heterogeneity that exists in Siberut. The conflict that took place was actually not just the interests of the economic base, but the existence of a cultural base that also played an important role.

Not to mention the local beliefs held by the Mentawai people who are against Islam. The characteristics of the localities of the Mentawai people who are friendly, kind, and highly appreciative of guests are one of the reasons for Islamization in Mentawai. This research is a research library with a qualitative analysis approach—the data collection work through observation and interviews with preachers concerned with Islamization in the Mentawai. Data analysis techniques use data analysis techniques Miles and Huberman, data reduction, presentation, and conclusions. The process of accepting Islam in Mentawai was peaceful, but due to a lack of guidance, the Mentawai people became apostates again. The Mentawai people convert to Islam by negotiating, such as education, marriage, self-sufficiency, and poverty. Some Mentawi people have started to study tauhid, and many Muslim women have veiled a lot. However, there are still some who choose pigs, done in secret. The government urgently needs to pay attention to Islamization in the Mentawai.

Geographically, the Mentawai Islands Regency has a territorial boundary with the sea. The north side is the Siberut Strait, the south side is bordered by the Indian Ocean, the east side is bordered by the Mentawai Strait, and the west side is bordered by the Indian Ocean. The Mentawai Islands Regency area has a high level of seismicity which makes it prone to earthquakes and tsunamis because it has an earthquake return period. Population and economic growth in the Mentawai Islands Regency continue to increase, resulting in a higher level of threat due to earthquakes and tsunamis to people and buildings. By using earthquake return period modeling based on secondary data and population and building growth modeling using system dynamics, Pentahelix can implement disaster risk mitigation in the Mentawai Islands Regency to reduce the risk of casualties and material losses. Based on the prediction that the Mentawai earthquake return period on October 25, 2010, will occur for 24 years to 57 years or around 2034 to 2067, and the results of system dynamics modeling with Powersim Studio 10 software, the number of vulnerable people affected is 24,764 people up to 42,944 people and potential losses. housing sector between 144.73 billion to 250.98 billion.

Surf tourism place comprise not only of surfing activities, but a myriad of actions and interactions on land and at sea of which surfing and surf tourism business are a part. However, surf tourism literature has rarely emphasized the presences of other modes of encountering and interacting with waves, such as fishing and seafaring, especially among local inhabitants. This paper puts the emphasis on a broader everyday busy-ness of living in a surf tourism place, by paying attention to the various ways local people attend to and interact with waves in which they inhabit. The everyday of surf tourism is explored through field research conducted at Ebay, an iconic surf tourism place located in Siberut, Mentawai Islands, Indonesia. Drawing on more-than-human and relational ontologies, the mundane relationalities between waves and humans are analysed as everyday practices of attentiveness and interaction, through which the entangled actors – humans and waves – further co-create the uneasy notion of intimacy. In addition to challenging the “Nirvanification” (after Ponting, 2006) of surf tourism places by narrating less touristic and more mundane, everyday situations involving waves and humans, this study also furthers our understanding of communication and culture by showcasing the possibilities of understanding local interaction between humans and nonhumans in a tourism context.
