In this study, a radiomics analysis was conducted to provide insights into the differentiation of radionecrosis and tumor progression in multiparametric MRI in the context of a multicentric clinical trial. First, the sensitivity of radiomic features to the unwanted variability caused by different protocol settings was assessed for each modality. Then, the ability of image normalization and ComBat-based harmonization to reduce the scanner-related variability was evaluated. Finally, the performances of several radiomic models dedicated to the classification of MRI examinations were measured. Our results showed that using radiomic models trained on harmonized data achieved better predictive performance for the investigated clinical outcome (balanced accuracy of 0.61 with the model based on raw data and 0.72 with ComBat harmonization). A comparison of several models based on information extracted from different MR modalities showed that the best classification accuracy was achieved with a model based on MR perfusion features in conjunction with clinical observation (balanced accuracy of 0.76 using LASSO feature selection and a Random Forest classifier). Although multimodality did not provide additional benefit in predictive power, the model based on T1-weighted MRI before injection provided an accuracy close to the performance achieved with perfusion.

The area of medical diagnosis has been transformed by computer-aided diagnosis (CAD). With the advancement of technology and the widespread availability of medical data, CAD has gotten a lot of attention, and numerous methods for predicting different pathological diseases have been created. Ultrasound (US) is the safest clinical imaging method; therefore, it is widely utilized in medical and healthcare settings with computer-aided systems. However, owing to patient movement and equipment constraints, certain artefacts make identification of these US pictures challenging. To enhance the quality of pictures for classification and segmentation, certain preprocessing techniques are required. Hence, we proposed a three-stage image segmentation method using U-Net and Iterative Random Forest Classifier (IRFC) to detect orthopedic diseases in ultrasound images efficiently. Initially, the input dataset is preprocessed using Enhanced Wiener Filter for image denoising and image enhancement. Then, the proposed segmentation method is applied. Feature extraction is performed by transform-based analysis. Finally, obtained features are reduced to optimal subset using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The classification is done using the proposed Iterative Random Forest Classifier. The proposed method is compared with the conventional performance measures like accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, and dice score. The proposed method is proved to be efficient for detecting orthopedic diseases in ultrasound images than the conventional methods.

Since its emergence in December 2019, there have been numerous posts and news regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in social media, traditional print, and electronic media. These sources have information from both trusted and non-trusted medical sources. Furthermore, the news from these media are spread rapidly. Spreading a piece of deceptive information may lead to anxiety, unwanted exposure to medical remedies, tricks for digital marketing, and may lead to deadly factors. Therefore, a model for detecting fake news from the news pool is essential. In this work, the dataset which is a fusion of news related to COVID-19 that has been sourced from data from several social media and news sources is used for classification. In the first step, preprocessing is performed on the dataset to remove unwanted text, then tokenization is carried out to extract the tokens from the raw text data collected from various sources. Later, feature selection is performed to avoid the computational overhead incurred in processing all the features in the dataset. The linguistic and sentiment features are extracted for further processing. Finally, several state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms are trained to classify the COVID-19-related dataset. These algorithms are then evaluated using various metrics. The results show that the random forest classifier outperforms the other classifiers with an accuracy of 88.50%.

The existence of vegetation in an area has an important role to maintain the carrying capacity of the environment and create a comfortable environment as a place to live. In an effort to create a sustainable environment, there are various pressures on vegetation that cause a decrease in vegetation area. Economic activity, population growth and other anthropogenic activities trigger the dynamics of vegetation cover in an area that causes land cover changes from vegetation to non-vegetation. Majalengka Regency as one of the areas with intensive regional physical development in line with the operation of BIJB Kertajati and the Cipali toll road became the study area in this research. This study aims to monitor the dynamics of vegetation cover with the proposed method namely the integration of the OBIA and Random Forest classifier using multi temporal Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. The results show that there is a decrease in the area of vegetation in the research area as much as 4,329.6 hectares to non-vegetation areas in the period 2016-2020. The vegetation area in 2020 is 84,716.07 hectares and non-vegetation area is 35,708 hectares. Thus, there has been a decrease in the percentage of vegetation area from 73.94% in 2016 to 70.35% in 2020, meanwhile for non-vegetation areas there has been an increase from 26.06% in 2016 to 29.65% in 2020.

Abstract For most developing countries, agriculture is their primary source of revenue. Modern agriculture is a constantly growing approach for agricultural advances and farming techniques. It becomes challenging for the farmers to satisfy our planet’s evolving requirements and the expectations of merchants, customers, etc. Some of the challenges the farmers face are-(i) Dealing with climatic changes because of soil erosion and industry emissions (ii) Nutrient deficiency in the soil, caused by a shortage of crucial minerals such as potassium, nitrogen, and phosphorus can result in reduced crop growth. (iii) Farmers make a mistake by cultivating the same crops year after year without experimenting with different varieties. They add fertilizers randomly without understanding the inferior quality or quantity. The paper aims to discover the best model for crop prediction, which can help farmers decide the type of crop to grow based on the climatic conditions and nutrients present in the soil. This paper compares popular algorithms such as K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Decision Tree, and Random Forest Classifier using two different criterions Gini and Entropy. Results reveal that Random Forest gives the highest accuracy among the three.

EEG signals are a relevant indicator for measuring aspects related to human factors in Software Engineering. EEG is used in software engineering to train machine learning techniques for a wide range of applications, including classifying task difficulty, and developers’ level of experience. The EEG signal contains noise such as abnormal readings, electrical interference, and eye movements, which are usually not of interest to the analysis, and therefore contribute to the lack of precision of the machine learning techniques. However, research in software engineering has not evidenced the effectiveness when applying these filters on EEG signals. The objective of this work is to analyze the effectiveness of filters on EEG signals in the software engineering context. As literature did not focus on the classification of developers’ code comprehension, this study focuses on the analysis of the effectiveness of applying EEG filters for training a machine learning technique to classify developers' code comprehension. A Random Forest (RF) machine learning technique was trained with filtered EEG signals to classify the developers' code comprehension. This study also trained another random forest classifier with unfiltered EEG data. Both models were trained using 10-fold cross-validation. This work measures the classifiers' effectiveness using the f-measure metric. This work used the t-test, Wilcoxon, and U Mann Whitney to analyze the difference in the effectiveness measures (f-measure) between the classifier trained with filtered EEG and the classifier trained with unfiltered EEG. The tests pointed out that there is a significant difference after applying EEG filters to classify developers' code comprehension with the random forest classifier. The conclusion is that the use of EEG filters significantly improves the effectivity to classify code comprehension using the random forest technique.
