This paper discusses the development of science of hadith commentary since early century of Hijrah. It traces its historical development and instrumental role in expanding the dynamic understanding of hadith and its science. The paper attempts to illustrate the principle and discipline of usul al-sharh as set forth in the major works of hadith commentary underlying its principle, context and method. The discussion focusses on the method and approaches (ittijahat al-sharh) of traditionalist in interpreting and commenting the texts. The study is based on qualitative method in the form of library research, focusing on content analysis. The sources of documentation was primarily derived from traditional and classical works of hadith and contemporary references that provide extensive analysis of hadith commentary. The study found that the science of hadith commentary was originated in the classical and medieval hadith works that extensively articulated its rigorous and underlying principle. This tradition was continued in modern context in the highly authoritative works of hadith commentary that brought forth modern and contextual approaches in analyzing hadith texts.

Abstract This study provides two theoretical insights that contribute to the debate on the legitimacy of ingo s that promote democracy to intervene in the third countries’ political affairs. First, it argues that the level of legitimacy that political parties endow to ingo s depends on the “instrumental role” that ingo s play in bolstering the achievements of national partners’ goals and is not based on the values and norms that the ingo s promote. Second, it suggests that the degree of legitimacy that political parties grant to ingo s has to be understood as temporarily limited and context dependent. Using the case of ingo s involved in democracy promotion during the Tunisian democratization, this article argues that Tunisian political elites welcomed ingo s assistance during the initial phase of the democracy transition (2011–2014) because their assistance was helpful to enhance the establishment of democracy system and its procedures. The article suggests that since 2015, political parties are showing less enthusiasm about ingo s’ pressure and interference in national affairs because the action of ingo s is no longer useful to their political agenda.

The paper covers the problem of translation variation of meanings which are represented by the lexemes describing perceptive characteristics (ясная улыбка, ясная/светлая душа; dark mind, dark person and others) and transferred from Russian into English and from English into Russian. The author shows that the cognitive interpretation of the meanings of the Russian words and their English equivalents can help to explain the differences in the meanings actualized in the phrases with these words and to analyze different variants of their translation.

Coronavirus victims have been confirmed all around the world and millions of people are being put into self-isolation. In this backdrop, a superior appreciation of the effective parameters in epidemic spreading can cause a cogent assessment toward COVID-19. In this vein, the consequences of weather indicators on the spread of COVID-19 can play an instrumental role in the current coronavirus situation enveloping the world. These elements entail time, maximum and minimum temperature, humidity, wind speed, and rainfall. By such an incorporation, their consequent effects on coronavirus in Pakistan are explored. In the current study, principal elements are considered including the number of infected patients with coronavirus in Pakistan. The autoregressive distribution lag (ARDL) approach is used to analyze the effects and relationships of variables with the COVID-19 expansion rate extracting data from April 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021. The results revealed that maximum and minimum temperature, humidity, wind speed, and rainfall had a significant positive correlation with total and confirmed cases of COVID-19. Lastly, this brief communication attempts to clarify the outbreak of coronavirus in the region.

AbstractThis chapter explores the recommendations in developing oncology nursing care for a comprehensive medical center. Nursing orientation, continuing education, and competencies are required for the oncology nurse to remain successful in care delivery. Nurse–patient ratios should be benchmarked with other competitive centers, acuity taken into consideration, and various workflows depending on the clinical settings. Nurses play an instrumental role in delivering oncology care, from preventative screening, throughout the continuum, and into end-of-life care.

The integration of Private Mobile Networks (PMN) with edge intelligence is expected to play an instrumental role in realizing the next generation of industry applications. This combination collectively termed Intelligent Private Networks (IPN) deployed within the scope of specific industries such as transport systems can unlock several use cases and critical applications that in turn can address rising business demands. This article presents a conceptual IPN that hosts intelligence at the network edge employing emerging technologies that satisfy a number of Next-Generation Railway System (NGRS) applications. NGRS use cases along with their applications and respective beyond 5G (B5G) enabling technologies have been discussed along with possible future research and development directions that will allow these promising technologies to be used and implemented widely.

The chapter delineates motivational mechanisms underlying how competition affects performance. The authors propose an opposing processes model of competition and performance in which competition positively influences performance via the adoption of performance-approach goals (i.e., trying to do better than others), whereas competition impairs performance via the adoption of performance-avoidance goals (i.e., trying to avoid doing worse than others). In competitions, these positive and negative goal processes often cancel each other out, producing a seemingly weak or non-existent relationship between competition and performance. The authors review empirical evidence for the proposed model, discuss the implications of the model in relation to other theoretical perspectives on competition, and speculate on the possibility that competition can play an instrumental role in sustainable engagement in a task.

This article analyses the 16th Sabah State Election, focusing on the Kadazandusun-majority seats. It is based on an ethnographic study comprising interviews with candidates and casual conversations with local people in "competitive" Kadazandusun seats such as Matunggong, Kiulu, Moyog, Tambunan, Keningau, Sook, Nabawan, Tenom and Melalap. The results of the election showed that the Kadazandusun voted for status quo. In addition, following the trend of GE14, the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) managed to maintain its strong presence in the Kadazandusun areas. This article argues that ethnic and personality politics play an instrumental role in determining the Kadazandusun support to GRS particularly STAR (Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku Rakyat Sabah/Homeland Solidarity Party) and PBS (Parti Bersatu Sabah/Sabah United Party). While economic factors are decisive as well, the role of the Kadazandusun traditional leadership institution is pertinent in influencing the people’s decision to vote.

Although it is considered that two heads are better than one, related studies argued that groups rarely outperform their best members. This study examined not only whether two heads are better than one but also whether three heads are better than two or one in the context of two-armed bandit problems where learning plays an instrumental role in achieving high performance. This research revealed that a U-shaped correlation exists between performance and group size. The performance was highest for either individuals or triads, but the lowest for dyads. Moreover, this study estimated learning properties and determined that high inverse temperature (exploitation) accounted for high performance. In particular, it was shown that group effects regarding the inverse temperatures in dyads did not generate higher values to surpass the averages of their two group members. In contrast, triads gave rise to higher values of the inverse temperatures than their averages of their individual group members. These results were consistent with our proposed hypothesis that learning coherence is likely to emerge in individuals and triads, but not in dyads, which in turn leads to higher performance. This hypothesis is based on the classical argument by Simmel stating that while dyads are likely to involve more emotion and generate greater variability, triads are the smallest structure which tends to constrain emotions, reduce individuality, and generate behavioral convergences or uniformity because of the ‘‘two against one” social pressures. As a result, three heads or one head were better than two in our study.
