In 2020, the Inter-American Development Bank kicked off the new decade faced with a novel, unprecedented challenge: the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, as the IDB Group sought to help the region's governments and companies navigate the social, economic, and health-related implications of this crisis, it did so with the support of a robust partnership network and a track record of collaborating with partners to amplify its impact. In 2020, the IDB Group was able to further leverage partnerships in this period of great transformation, continuing its efforts to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and confront the new obstacles generated by the pandemic in partnership with governments, companies, philanthropic actors, academic institutions, and others. The pages of this report provide greater insight into these efforts, revealing partnerships to be an unrivaled tool for transforming challenges and uncertainty into opportunities for growth.

We develop and apply analytically tractable generative models of livestock movements at national scale. These go beyond current models through mechanistic modelling of heterogeneous trade partnership network dynamics and the trade events that occur on them. Linking resulting animal movements to disease transmission between farms yields analytical expressions for the basic reproduction number R 0 . We show how these novel modelling tools enable systems approaches to disease control, using R 0 to explore impacts of changes in trading practices on between-farm prevalence levels. Using the Scottish cattle trade network as a case study, we show our approach captures critical complexities of real-world trade networks at the national scale for a broad range of endemic diseases. Changes in trading patterns that minimize disruption to business by maintaining in-flow of animals for each individual farm reduce R 0 , with the largest reductions for diseases that are most challenging to eradicate. Incentivizing high-risk farms to adopt such changes exploits ‘scale-free’ properties of the system and is likely to be particularly effective in reducing national livestock disease burden and incursion risk. Encouragingly, gains made by such targeted modification of trade practices scale much more favourably than comparably targeted improvements to more commonly adopted farm-level biosecurity.

Abstract This abstract aims to present a research carried out on a project which organizes knowledge transfer based on digital media in order to promote health of young people. One of the two websites created as part of this project is dedicated exclusively to professionals. They find in it reliable information on different topics. Since then, we may wonder how digital media promote knowledge transfer? And what are the consequences on professional practices? The study conducted between October 2019 and January 2020 uses quantitative and qualitative methods. Professionals were asked about the way in which they mobilized online content in the implementation of actions in promoting young people's health. Participants all work with children or teenagers and represent different professional groups: school nurses, social workers, workers in childcare facilities, teachers etc. One of the major findings of this study is to account for the knowledge transfer that exists through digital media. Websites facilitate professional's access to content that increase their capacity to act in health promotion. For example, they are developing a more participatory approach (workshops, educational games or debates). However, the evolution of professional practices implies at the same time an appropriation of the information provided by websites. Knowledge transfer can't be based only on digital media. In matter of fact, a major resource for knowledge transfer is related to the partnership dynamic driven at the local level. Exchanges of practices organized in real life allow professional to meet and share effective intervention strategies. There is a tangible complementarity between digital media and partnership network in terms of knowledge transfer. Finally, the presentation will search to better understand the role of digital media in public health. The uses in context told by professionals will invite to highlight the innovative character ok knowledge transfer associated with digital media. Key messages This abstract focuses on knowledge transfer in the age of digital media. What innovations can be identified in professional health promotion practices for young people? The aim of this abstract is to discuss how the knowledge transfer based on digital media is organized and the consequences on professional practices: what are the impacts?

Abstract Global health partnerships have expanded exponentially in the last two decades with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance considered the model’s pioneer and leader because of its vaccination programs’ implementation mechanism. Gavi, relies on diverse domestic and international partners to carry out its programs in low- and middle-income countries under a Partnership Engagement Framework (PEF). We harnessed an established partnership evaluation framework, to conduct an in-depth examination of Mozambique’s Gavi driven partnership network which delivered the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine during the demonstration phase. Methods We utilized mixed methods to assess five partnership dimensions. Qualitative tools gauged contextual factors, prerequisites, partner performance and practices while a social network analysis (SNA) survey measured the partnership structure and perceived added value in terms of effectiveness, efficiency and country ownership. The 40 key informants who were interviewed included frontline ministry of health workers, ministry of education staff and supporting partner organization members, of whom 34 participated in the social network analysis survey. Results SNA measures for partnership structure revealed a partnership network characterized by high overall connectivity. Reachability 100% and average distance 2.5 scores were high, features that are favorable for rapid and widespread diffusion of information that is needed for engaging and handling multiple implementation scales. High SNA effectiveness and efficiency measures for structural holes (85%) and low redundancy (30%) coupled with high mean perceived effectiveness (97.6%) and efficiency (79.5%) outcome scores were observed. Additionally, the tie strength average score of 4.1 on a scale of 5 denoted high professional trust. These are all markers of a partnership where disparate institutions and organizations worked in a collaborative environment in which each entity’s comparative advantage was leveraged. Lower perceived outcome scores for country ownership (24%) were found with the challenges of working with out-of-country partners being prominently cited by study participants as reasons. Conclusions While there is room for improvement on the country ownership aspects of the partnership, the expanded, diverse and inclusive collaboration of institutions and organizations that implemented the Mozambique HPV vaccine demonstration project was effective and efficient and we recommend that the country adapt a similar model during the national scale up.
