Menthol extracts of four local plants (Ocimum tenuiflorum, Hibiscus, Mentha longifolia and Bougainvillea glabra) were analysed to check their toxicity on third instar larvae of B. dorsalis by estimating the larval mortality for four plant extracts and different times exposure (1-5 hr) and measured LT50 value for each plant extract. Larval mortality varies for extract of each studied plant as Ocimum tenuiflorum showed its highest value of 56.68% at 4.57hr, for hibiscus it was 72% at 3.5 hr., for Mentha longifolia it was 95.23% at 4 hr., while for Bougainvillea glabra it was 100% at 2 hr. exposure. The LT50 values for B. dorsalis varying from 1.011 for Bougainvillea glabra to 2.946 for Ocimum tenuiflorum whereas LT50 values were 1.402 and 1.123, forHibiscus and Mentha longifolia respectively. Present study results showed that Bougainvillea glabra was highly toxic whereas Ocimum tenuiflorum shows least toxicity.

Three new species of Fungitarsonemus Cromroy, 1958 (Acari: Heterostigmatina: Tarsonemidae), F. baganbilasae Karmakar & Mondal sp. nov., F. icchepaharicus Karmakar & Mondal sp. nov., F. rishyapensis Karmakar & Mondal sp. nov., are described based on the specimens collected from Bougainvillea glabra (Nyctaginaceae) in a part of the lower Gangetic plains located in Nadia district; Citrus reticulata (Rutaceae), Jasminum mesnyi (Oleaceae) and Prunus domestica (Rosaceae) in parts of the Central Himalayan biotic province spread across the hills of Darjeeling and Kalimpong district of West Bengal, India. This registers the first record of Fungitarsonemus from India.

Daun tanaman bunga kertas (Bougainvillea glabra Folium) memiliki banyak manfaat yang belum diketahui oleh masyarakat sehingga diperlukan cara untuk menginovasi daun, bunga kertas agar dapat digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari hari. Salah satu inovasi yaitu dengan membuat sediaan celup daun bunga kertas. Tujuan: Mengetahui daya hambat sediaan celup daun bunga kertas terhadap bakteri Escherichia coli. Metode: Dilakukan uji daya hambat terhadap bakteri Escherichia coli menggunakan metode Kirby-Bauer. Hasil: Pengujian daya hambat terhadap bakteri Escherichia coli dengan hasil konsentrasi 3 % yaitu 8,95 mm, konsentrasi 9 % yaitu 10,45 mm, konsentrasi 12 % yaitu 10,00 mm, konsentrasi 15 % yaitu 12,45 mm. Simpulan dan saran: Uji yang dilakukan pada sediaan celup daun, bunga kertas dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli.

Current research work was performed to evaluate the antioxidant, antidiabetic, thrombolytic, and cytotoxic potential of Bougainvillea glabra leaf extracts with different solvents. Extraction of leaves was carried out by maceration using solvents of various polarity such as n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, and methanol. The highest values of total phenolic and flavonoid contents were assessed in methanolic extract, such as 58.57% and 29.41%, respectively. Antioxidant potential was measured by DPPH free radical, showing 65.16% scavenging activity in methanolic extract. Similarly, the reducing power of methanolic extract was also measured. Hemolytic activity of B. glabra leaf extracts was evaluated, and maximum percentage lysis was found as 6.86% in chloroform extract. The thrombolytic activity of B. glabra leaf extracts was evaluated against human red blood cells, and the maximum percentage of clot lysis was 59.10% in chloroform extract. Maximum antidiabetic activity (16.20%) was observed in methanolic extract. Overall, the presented results reveal that bogan bail extract is capable of being employed in nutra-pharmaceutical industry.
