The genre heredity concept is articulated on the analysis example of I. Drach’s screen version of the biographical film story “I’m coming to you” (1970), dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Lesya Ukrainka. The film is marked by innovative approach of I. Drach as a scriptwriter to the image of the poetess. Contrary to the tradition of documentary film to interpret her biography in a certain matrix key (as a fighter and revolutionary), Drach tried to identify Lesya Ukrainka primarily as a private individual, as the woman who knew how to sacrifice herself for the sake of love. Without aiming to show in detail the entire biography of the poetess, the author of the film story chose only a small fragment of her life – four years 1897–1901. In terms of biopic genre heredity, the article observes how this biographical film presents possible ways of processing and contamination of available documentary material (letters, memoirs, reminiscences of contemporaries) and integral creation by Lesya Ukrainka (her poetry, translations, renditions). Hence, the biopic on the basis of multi-genre text material appears as a kind of intertextual plexus. At the same time, the film pays much attention to the feelings, thoughts, creative impulses and state of mind of the heroine. By analogy with the poetics of literary writing, the form of the poetess’ inner monologue was chosen in accordance with the portrait film genre. It is clear that through the prism of Lesya’s life and creative experience the personal attitude of the poet I. Drach emerges towards understanding and reproducing the figure of creative personality in art: the author’ vision logically leads to those biographical episodes that in the existential sense appear the most significant.

Abstract A home is one of the basic humans needs. In Covid 19 era, the conventional concept of a home has been challenged by the new face of requirement for covid 19 protocol. A home is not only functioned as a private individual domestic activity but it has also been used as a response of its new tasks as an office (WFH concept) or as a healing facility (self quarantine system). Another challenge for development nowadays is the limitation of natural resources. Thus, it is essensial that every development need to considered sustainable approach. This paper will explore on how sustainable approach implemented in walk-up flats and how the design adapts to global pandemic. Qualitative methods will be used with observation and interview as the main data collection. The finding of this study reveals that most of sustainable criteria has not yet implemented in Keudah walk-up flat. Accordingly, sets of design concepts for walk-up flats in Banda Aceh are proposed. Finally, the proposed concept can be used in the future, in order to adjust the need to prevent covid 19 as well as other pandemic in the future.

This study investigated the prevalence and intensity of Fasciola gigantica infection in the liver of cattle slaughtered in three abattoirs located in Ikpoba/Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. It also estimated the economic implications of the condemned liver. A total of 17,325 cattle were examined in the three abattoirs over a period of 252 days (approximately 69 cattle/day) spanning over the wet and dry seasons; 1,683 cattle were infected with an overall prevalence of 9.71%. In Abattoir A, 11774 cattle were examined with 1069 (9.08%) prevalence. In Abattoirs B and C, 4352 and 1199 cattle, respectively, were examined and 563 (12.94%) and 51 (4.25%) were respectively infected. From the three abattoirs, 155 (0.89%) livers were considered unfit for human consumption due to F. gigantica infection. For the wet season, 1062 (10.89%) cattle livers were infected while 621 (8.20%) were infected during the dry season. The mean intensity of infection during the wet season was 37.80 and 30.42 during the dry season. The financial loss due to infected liver condemnation was at N803,160 (1,947.050USD) showing that liver condemnation arising from F. gigantica infection is a major cause of financial loss to cattle farmers and dealers. There is, therefore, need for adequate veterinary inspections for early detection and treatment of the disease. There should be more meat inspection, especially in private/individual abattoirs.

Personas are the public expressions of a private identity, the performance of personality in the social world. They are particularly visible and familiar in the world of celebrity, where entertainers regularly adopt an alter-ego for performance. This has intriguing consequences for biographical representations of performers. Biopic actors are obliged to duplicate the public-facing persona, which is an already-known, semi-fictional construction, and the private individual beneath. The narrative of the biopic must account for this relationship between the persona and the person who authors it. This article explores this process in two high-profile rock biopics, Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) and Rocketman (2019), comparing their different approaches to reproducing and exploring the persona of their subjects in performance, style and mise en scène.

Abstract Amid the corpus of Greek papyri discovered in the sands of Egypt, some fifty letters dated from the end of the 3rd century CE to the 7th century refer to a disease which afflicts an animal or a private individual – either the sender or the recipient of the letter, or to a third party. Seventeen of these also provide details on care and healing. How do these seventeen letters, which ostensibly do not derive from the medical world, describe the evolution of a disease, and especially its outcome when it is fortunate for the sick person? What are the healing strategies implemented by these individuals? These are the questions that I try to answer, while emphasising the contribution of these documents to the history of health and disease in Byzantine Egypt.

Abstract Kant distinguishes between ‘active’ and ‘passive’ citizens and holds that only the former are civilly self-sufficient and possess rights of political participation. Such rights are important, since for Kant state institutions are a necessary condition for individual freedom. Thus, only active citizens are entitled to contribute to a necessary condition for the freedom of each. I argue that Kant attributes civil self-sufficiency to those who are not under the authority of any private individual for their survival. This reading is more textually grounded than the dominant reading, which understands civil self-sufficiency in terms of economic relations alone. I further argue that Kant was interested in relations of authority because he was concerned to eliminate certain forms of corruption. This indicates that Kant’s contested distinction between active and passive citizens was a response to a key problem of any account of public lawgiving.

Literature on domestic violence in the South Asian community demonstrates that there is an over emphasis on dismissing violence as a ‘cultural’ phenomenon. Likewise, literature on media’s portrayal of violence against women tends to reinforce patriarchal ideologies by blaming the victim, excusing the perpetrator, and reporting violence as a private, individual matter rather than a larger, social problem. Using discourse analysis, my findings illustrate that the portrayal of domestic violence in The Toronto Star reinforces racism and sexism when framing the problem. In doing so, responsibility is diffused and therefore the solution to violence against women becomes limited, if not non-existent.
