The first phase of Greek–Canadian excavations at the site of ancient Eleon in eastern Boeotia was conducted from 2011 to 2015. Fieldwork on the elevated plateau located between Thebes and the Euboean Gulf provided new evidence for occupation of Bronze Age and historical periods. Tombs of the early Mycenaean period have been found within and around a funerary structure known as the Blue Stone Structure. By the later Mycenaean period, settlement deposits dating to the Late Helladic IIIA and IIIB periods include evidence for participation in regional economic and crafting networks. Substantial Postpalatial settlement remains allow a better understanding of domestic architecture through several phases of reconstruction in the Late Helladic IIIC period, as well as industrial and ceremonial practices. Excavations have yet to locate evidence for domestic activity on the acropolis during the Iron Age, but the site is renewed in the Archaic period by the construction of the a major polygonal wall and associated entryway on the east side. Deposits here of fineware ceramics and figurines suggest that a cult focused on female divinity was active throughout the fifth century bc.

Excavation revealed four distinct phases of Roman enclosure ditches, of which the earliest were of mid-late 1st-century date. These were subsequently recut and augmented during the later 1st and 2nd centuries, to create a series of contiguous rectilinear enclosures, not all of which may have been in contemporary use. A notable density of finds within the north-central part of the excavated area, together with evidence of a small post-ring structure, suggested a focus of domestic activity. A later phase of post-medieval activity was represented by a probable field boundary ditch and a post-built structure of irregular rectilinear plan.

Abstract A home is one of the basic humans needs. In Covid 19 era, the conventional concept of a home has been challenged by the new face of requirement for covid 19 protocol. A home is not only functioned as a private individual domestic activity but it has also been used as a response of its new tasks as an office (WFH concept) or as a healing facility (self quarantine system). Another challenge for development nowadays is the limitation of natural resources. Thus, it is essensial that every development need to considered sustainable approach. This paper will explore on how sustainable approach implemented in walk-up flats and how the design adapts to global pandemic. Qualitative methods will be used with observation and interview as the main data collection. The finding of this study reveals that most of sustainable criteria has not yet implemented in Keudah walk-up flat. Accordingly, sets of design concepts for walk-up flats in Banda Aceh are proposed. Finally, the proposed concept can be used in the future, in order to adjust the need to prevent covid 19 as well as other pandemic in the future.

Abstract Bandung City is one of the big cities in Indonesia with a relatively poor river water quality. Several improvement efforts have been made, especially by the government. This study aims to review these improvement efforts and the results obtained. The rivers that are the leading review are the Cikapundung River, Citepus River, Cicadas River, and Cipamokolan River. The data was obtained from the monitoring results conducted by the government environmental service bureau of Bandung and the Province of West Java. Based on the study results, it was found that there was an improvement in the water quality of the Citepus River, but this river had a non-biodegradation capacity in 2020. The high TSS, COD, BOD, and MBAS detergents indicate the dominating domestic activity in urban watersheds. The most significant control effort to improve the quality of river water in the city of Bandung is the availability of waste treatment at the source, both household and regional scale. Onsite efforts to improve river water quality also have a positive impact, i.e., applying an eco-enzyme solution and developing structures in the river for the aeration process.

Abstract: This study focuses on assessment of zooplankton with special reference to seasonal variation and selected physicchemical variables of Kampli water tanks in Hosapete city, Karnataka state. A large quantity of manmade activities near the water tank. During the study period, 48 species of zooplankton - 14 species of Rotifera, 12 species of Cladocera, 6 species of Ostracoda and 4 species of Copepoda were observed. Among zooplankton, Rotifera was (645 no./Org) noticed as the dominant group in the entire the study period and the maximum count was identified in the summer period while less numbers were noticed during winter season. Zooplankton community is also significantly correlated with some physico-chemical variables. The analytical results during the study period indicate that the scattering and density of zooplankton species were encouraged by prevailing physical and chemical features of the aquatic ecological condition. The pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 has caused great social changes, some of them not yet described. This article tries to give an answer to how it has impacted Spanish adolescents in the field of domestic activity and how they use their free time and if there are differences between the normal population and people who have been involved in non-formal education programs, such as Scouts. In addition, young adolescents who actively participate as Scouts have been compared and, if so, belonging to a group has changed their behavior pattern. The sample has been obtained in a probabilistic way representing all the autonomous communities of Spain with a total of 1280 participants. To obtain the data, an online questionnaire was prepared with which qualitative analyzes were subsequently carried out. The results show statistically significant differences in behavior, both in domestic responsibilities and in what they do with their free time. Young Scouts display different behaviors than their non-Scout peers.

Abstract Seawater intrusion has a serious impact on industry, agriculture, and people’s daily life. Thus, the present study was designed to elucidate the pollution sources and groundwater evolution in typical intrusion areas of Shandong Province by hydrochemistry and environmental isotope techniques. The water samples were collected to analyze the groundwater evolution under different intrusion, and groundwater evolution in the south of Laizhou Bay from 2005 to 2019. The findings indicated that the groundwater level dropping funnel caused by overexploitation was the direct causation of seawater intrusion in the three typical intruded areas. The groundwater evolution paths demonstrated that the groundwater in the south of Laizhou Bay had the fastest evolution rate and the highest degree of evolution, followed by the Dagu River Basin. The groundwater evolution extent and fitting of mixing lines indicated that the groundwater in the south of Laizhou Bay, Longkou, and Dagu River Basin was dominated by palaeosaltwater intrusion, modern seawater intrusion, and sea-saltwater mixed intrusion, respectively. Palaeosaltwater mixing produces a more severe salinization effect compared to seawater mixing. Meanwhile, the isotopes are gradually enriched with the deepening of intrusion, while the decrease of isotopes is delayed compared with the saltwater retreat. This is caused by that the stable isotopes enriched in the aquiclude due to the chemical permeation effect will be released into the aquifer after the salinity attenuates in the aquifer. The palaeosaltwater intrusion caused by anthropogenic activities has promoted serious fluorine pollution in the south of Laizhou Bay, while the groundwater nitrate pollution in Longkou was the most serious, followed by the Dagu River Basin due to high-density agricultural and domestic activity.

The possible faecal-oral transmission of SARS-CoV-2 through domestic discharges has emerged as a serious public health concern. Based on persistence of the virus in environment, the wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) enabled the surveillance of infection in a community. The water bodies connected to the anthropogenic activities have strong possibility of presence of the SARS-CoV-2 genetic material. In this work, we monitored urban, peri-urban and rural lakes in and around Hyderabad as a long-term surveillance study for presence of enteric virus SARS-CoV-2 gene fragments. The study time of seven months coincided with the first and second wave of COVID-19 infection. The study depicted differential viral RNA copies in the urban lake with high viral load observed during the peaks of wave I and wave II. Distinct variability in viral genes detection was observed amongst all five lakes which were in concordance with the human activity of the catchment area. The SARS-CoV-2 genes were not detected in peri-urban and rural lakes, whereas the urban lakes having direct functional attributes from domestic activity, in the community showed presence of viral load. The outcome of the study clearly shows that the urban water streams linked with domestic discharge will function as a proxy for wastewater epidemiological studies. The surge in viral gene load from February 2021 sample suggests the on shoot of the second wave of infection, which correlated well with the prevailing pandemic situation. Implementation of regular WBE based monitoring system for the water bodies/wastewater in the urban and semi-urban areas will help to understand the outbreak and spread of virus in the community.

While many of our colleagues are avidly baking and feeding their newly acquired sourdough starters while sheltering in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are conducting ethnographic work with individuals who have embraced the stylistics and aesthetics of improvisation in acts of caring for, listening to, baking with, and recording their sourdough starters, as well as performing alongside their bread-kin. Imagine, in some instances, the multispecies improvisational style of David Rothenberg’s co-performance with birds, whales, and insects (Rothenberg 2017; 2016; 2002; Ryan 2020), but with wild yeast and freshly baked bread. In this article we ask: What is it about the conditions of sheltering in place, quarantine, and domestic isolation that fosters an experimental space for reconfiguring multispecies improvisation and performance to include our foodways? Why has baking, specifically bread (and sourdough), rather than other forms of domestic activity and craft fostered this specific sonic response during these pandemic times? How are participants sharing, scrolling through, and listening to these domestic performances across social media? What does the sonic register of these multimodal texts communicate to other socially distancing social media users? Through ethnographic fieldwork of performing with, listening to, musicalizing, and caring for sourdough starters, their “screaming yeast” (Roosth 2009), and the baked result, this article places improvisation studies, domestic practices, multispecies performance, gastromusicology, and pandemic spatial conditions in dialogue to address these questions.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced governments to impose quarantines and lockdowns as containment strategy, raising concerns about mental health and low level of physical activity performed by quarantined populations. In this study, we assess the level of physical activity and psychological wellbeing in a sample of the Italian population during lockdown through an online format of International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and Psychological General Well-Being index—Short version (PGWB-S). Of 317 adult responders considered, most were female (61.2%), young adults (52.4%), living in little-to-medium size cities (80.1%) and with high-level education (62.8%). Most of our sample performed physical activity mostly during leisure time and domestic activities, and 60.9% were highly active. No interactions were found between physical activity and the demographic characteristics considered. Subjects performing high level of physical activity felt more energetic and vital than those with moderate (p < 0.0001) and low levels (p < 0.0001) of physical activity. Our participants performed enough activity to satisfy the WHO Guidelines, mainly due to domestic activity and activity performed during leisure time, with an overall moderately positive psychological reaction to lockdown.
