Abstract Soil corrosion is a major hazard to subterranean infrastructure including gas and oil transmission pipes, underground storage tanks and others. The impacts of soil engineering characteristics on buried mild steel coupons’ metal loss are investigated in this work. Soil characteristics such as soil clay and moisture content are the focus of the present research in Al-Kut city near Tigris River. For a twelve month period, 100 pieces of mild steel coupons were put underground in five different sites across to look into the effects of the aforementioned variables on loss of metal owing to corrosion of soil. Every three months, the samples were recovered to evaluate the rate of weight loss and corrosion rate development. The data show that the high moisture content of the soil is linked to rapid corrosion development. Corrosion on clay soil, on the other hand, takes longer to start. According to the qualitative assessment, soil moisture content has a greater impact on corrosion dynamics than clay content.

Environmental efficiency, industrial transfer demonstration zones, and carbon transfer networks can impact the quality of the environment. This paper examines the relationship between environmental efficiency, carbon transfer networks, and national industrial transfer demonstration zones tested by utilizing some prefectural-level Chinese cities’ panel data from 2003 to 2017 through the Different-in-Difference method as way forward for China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The results show that environmental efficiency improved with industrial transfer demonstration zones by boosting the ability to innovate, government’s expenditure on the environment, and regulatory frameworks for the environment. The findings reflect a significant increase in the GDP of the triennial industry while an insignificant decrease. Hence, to promote all-inclusive first-rate development, regional collaborative must be ensured during industrial transformation demonstration.

Brassicaceae (Cruciferae) are ostensibly defended in part against generalist insect herbivores by toxic isothiocyanates formed when protoxic glucosinolates are hydrolysed. Based on an analysis of published host records, feeding on Brassicas is widespread by both specialist and generalists in the Lepidoptera. The polyphagous noctuid moth Helicoverpa armigera is recorded as a pest on some Brassicas and we attempted to improve performance by artificial selection to, in part, determine if this contributes to pest status. Assays on cabbage and kale versus an artificial diet showed no difference in larval growth rate, development times and pupal weights between the parental and the selected strain after 2, 21 and 29 rounds of selection, nor in behaviour assays after 50 generations. There were large differences between the two Brassicas: performance was better on kale than cabbage, although both were comparable to records for other crop hosts, on which the species is a major pest. We discuss what determines “pest” status.

The Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Irapuato Tutorial Center processes a large amount of information related to incoming students, such as high school data, socioeconomic level, CENEVAL and psychometric tests among other items. All this information is very valuable for the institution, since it allows a better knowledge of the students and guide them properly throughout their stay in the institution. This paper presents a Data Warehouse database development used as a storage of multiple data sources. This database is required by a data cube that allows the Tutorial Center a quick analysis to streamline and support decision options, such as grants and scholarships, strategies to decrease the dropout rate, development of study platforms, and more.

Research background: Unemployment and inflation are among the basic macroeconomic indicators of the national economy. Both these phenomena are inextricably linked to market economy and have undisputable social and economic impacts on the population of the countries where these processes take place. The relationship between the inflation and unemployment can be expressed by means of Philips curve. Purpose: The objective of the research is to compile Philips’s curve for the years 2000-2021 and compare the resulting curve with the initial short-run Philips curve. Methods: The validity of the mutual relationship between unemployment and inflation is examined using the method of neural networks. The data on inflation and unemployment rate are available from the period of 31 January 2020 and 28 February 2021. The data on inflation were obtained from the database of the Czech Statistical Office; the data on unemployment, from the official websites of the Czech National Bank. Findings & Value added: During the period under review, unemployment rate and inflation fluctuated constantly. Currently, both variables have stabilized at around 3%. Compared the long-term trend, in the years 2008-2009, the inflation rate was higher than unemployment rate. The analysis performed shows that the actual Philips curve for the Czech Republic in the period under review does not copy the initial short-run Philips curve, which indicates that the prediction of inflation rate development cannot be based on the development of unemployment rate, and the development of inflation rate cannot be a basis for exact prediction of unemployment rate development.

Research background: In the past, some studies proved that the development of a currency exchange rate predicts the development of the whole national economy. The monetary market overtakes the development of the actual economy for a few months. Does this apply also in the case of the Czech koruna, in the era of the global Coronavirus pandemics and in the world affected by the pandemics? Purpose of the article: The main objective is to analyze a dependence of the Czech koruna (CZK) to Euro (EUR) exchange rate development on gross domestic product of the Czech Republic in the conditions of an expected crisis. Methods: The data used of the analysis are represented by the information about the CZK and EUR exchange rate from the beginning of 1999 to the 15th June 2020 and by the quarterly development of the Czech GDP. To measure the dependence and predict the development of the GDP based on the CZK exchange rate development, the method of AI is used, namely the regression analysis using the artificial neural networks. Findings & Value added: The effect of EUR/CZK on GDP can be quantified reaching around 31%. It is assumed that the GDP will fall significantly in 2020 with a certain growth only being possibly expected in 2021 (even more significantly in the second quarter of 2021). Due to the GDP development, the development of the EUR/CZK could then be forecasted as well.

The well-recognized efficiency of Tenebrio molitor larvae to convert low quality organic matter into a nutritionally valuable biomass was exploited to manage solid wastes coming from the olive oil industry, which represent a severe environmental challenge in the Mediterranean area. Three organic pomace-enriched substrates (mixtures middlings/pomace 3:1, 1:1, and 1:3) were assessed, together with 100% organic wheat flour and 100% organic middlings as control feeds. A feeding substrate made up of 25% olive pomace and 75% wheat middlings appeared to be the best compromise between growth performance (larval and pupal weights, survival rate, development time) and nutritional properties of mealworm larvae. In fact, larvae fed the 3:1 feed showed the highest dry matter (DM) yield (38.05%), protein content (47.58% DM), and essential/non-essential amino acids ratio (1.16). Fat content (32.14% DM) and fatty acid composition were not significantly different than those of larvae fed more pomace-enriched feeds.

The intensity and direction of the living organism’s metabolic processes determine the growth rate, development, nutrients synthesis, as well as the reproductive body function and the biosynthesis of proteins, fats and carbohydrates in the form of feedstuff and raw materials. The higher animals’ productivity, the more intensive are metabolic processes. The living bodies’ metabolism proceeds with a certain speed and at the same time contrariwise, but with accurate coherence and interaction due to the participation of “life regulators”, enzymes, which represent the specific proteins, the activity of which is regulated by hormones, vitamins and various synergistic elements. Chemical elements included in the living organism structure are not synthesized in it but must be originated from feeds and other nutrients. Changes in essential micronutrients supply shall not be studied in isolation from the general bio-geochemical situation. Both excess and deficiency may lead to metabolic disorders involving enzyme systems. Knowledge applied by veterinary specialists about the imbalance of various chemical elements in soil, water and feeds has formed the basis for raising the issue of endemic animal diseases diagnosis and prevention. The feeds inadequacy often leads to undernutrition and the reduction of their value in the stall period, which causes the fatness reduction and, therefore, the decrease in mobility and activity, and the weakness of animals. General inspection and palpation of animals reveal ruffled coat, dry-looking and non-supple skin, and if the lack of nutrients becomes more intense, anemic mucous membranes (in more complicated forms even cyanosis and icterus) are observed.

Purpose Our knowledge of speech rate development remains inadequate because of limited longitudinal data and lack of data from children under age 3;0 (years;months). The purpose of this longitudinal study was to test the pattern of speech rate development between ages 2;0 and 3;0. Method Speech rate was assessed at 4 time points between ages 2;0 and 3;0. The analysis employed multilevel models to characterize the development of speech rate (syllables per second), phonemes per second (PPS), length of active declarative sentences, and mean length of utterance. Results The results indicate a significant linear increase in speech rate, PPS, length of active declarative sentences, and mean length of utterance occurring over the 1-year period. Male and female children differed in speech rate, PPS, and utterance length, suggesting sex is a potential factor in early speech rate development. Conclusions Our findings indicate that the speech motor system develops rapidly during the period when grammar emerges. Speech rate has the potential to be an important metric for understanding typical speech development and speech disorders.

Through time series analysis, it is possible to obtain significant statistics and other necessary data characteristics. Prediction of time series allows predicting future values based on previously observed values. The exact prognosis of the time series is very important for a number of different areas, such as transport, energy, finance, economics, etc. It is within the topic of economy that the analysis and prediction of time series can also be used for exchange rates. The exchange rate itself can greatly affect the whole foreign trade. The aim of this article is therefore to analyze the exchange rate development of two currencies by analyzing time series through artificial neural networks. Experimental results show that neural networks are potentially usable and effective for exchange rate prediction.
