Biodeterioration of construction materials is an undesired phenomenon, generating high costs of constraction repairs. On the other hand, occurrence of some bacteria can affect prevention and self repair of fractures formed in concrete. Biodeposition is an effective solution for increasing compressive strength of concrete, extending durability of concrete constructions and renovating limestone elements in facades of historic buildings.

The eyes are exposed to many factors, that contribute to the deterioration of their condition. These include environmental conditions and the influence of reactive oxygen species ROS and oxidative stress. Research shows, that one of the most important tasks of created in such way state of emergency is maintenance of relative balance between oxidants (contributing to the formation of ROS) and antioxidants (restraining their effect). Some chemical elements, especially copper, play a key role in blocking ROS and presents an overview of information on the impact of oxidative stress on the eyes and the defense mechanisms with the participation of copper.

This article presents a method of use of measurements based on airborne laser scanning to monitoring secondary influences caused by underground exploitation of coal deposits. The issue of secondary influences is still current topic in underground mining, especially in areas with a long mining history. The article presents, on the example of mining exploitation in the city of Bytom, the method of acquiring and processing data from the measurement of airborne laser scanning and interpretation of the obtained results.

The paper presents the use of the concept of bi (binder intensity) and ci (carbon indexes as indicators defining the effectiveness of using binders in cement composites in connection with their anthropopressive impact resulting from CO2 emissions from cement production.

The paper presents a geodetic method of controling the linearity of a trestle-crane runway placed in a steel structure. The authors disscussed the control measurements of diverse craines as well as the procedurę aimed at determining the deviations of track-beam axes from their design values. Moreover, they also analysed the deviations of the designed span of underrail track axes. The measurements were made using classical geodetic methods, and there were two of them -graphical and analytical - used to obtain the results. The graphical interpretation of the results is also presented.

This article contains the results of investigations conducted at the WULS in Warsaw concerning initial treatment of sewage sludge by means of microwave disintegration. Sewage sludge were taken from the "Mokre Łąki" wastewater treatment plant in the municipality of Izabelin. Experiments were carried out on concentrated and non-concentrated sludge. Each of the sludges was disintegrated in portions of varying volumes and also at different time of microwave interactions. Significant changes in the values of the tested parameters such as COD, turbidity and temperature due to the sludge suppression process were considered. These parameters have a significant impact on the course of further processes that treated sludge and supernatant liquid can be processed. Therefore, determining the volatility of these parameters is important.

The paper presents the overview and characteristics of three different methods of organic compounds determination in wastewater: method according to ATV, respirometric method and method with use of particle separation. The results of laboratory analysis of municipal wastewater composition carried out using each of the described methods are presented. Wastewater derived from sewage collector in Grodzisk Wlkp. The research was performed in 7 series, from October 2013 to May 2014. The results obtained using different methods were compared by statistical tests. The observed differences were the consequence of the contractually assumed coefficients and size of particles and the defects during manual particles separation.

Sustainable development is a synonymous for the coexistence of man with the environment on equal rights. The progressing urbanization often leads to depletion of environmental resources and puts man above the natural environment. The paper attempts to analyse the current state and possibilities of development of technical infrastructure of the rural commune Nowa Sol, Lubuskie voivodeship, in the light of sustainable development.

Intensive land reclamation works carried out a few centuries ago in Poland contributed to a significant impoverishment of the hydrographic network. Currently, more and more often there are problems related to water deficit and implementation of a programme aimed at expansion of retention, e.g. through the construction of artificial reservoirs or damming of natural jellies. In this work, the morphometry of the non-existent Krokowo Lake was reconstructed. It was established that as a result of the anthropopressure impact, the body of water of the area 58.0 ha and capacity of 2.6 millions m3 disappeared. In the light of the increased retention capacity in Poland, the restoration of natural lakes seems to be an interesting approach. Renaturalisation of these environmental elements in the context of improving the water balance components seems more justified than the creation of new (artificial) components.

The paper presents long-term changes in water levels of Prosna, one of the main rivers in Wielkopolska, i.e. the region which is widely regarded as one of the least abundant in water in Poland. It was established that during the last 40 years the average annual water levels of Prosny showed a downward trend at the level of 7.8 cm-dec-1 and were statistically significant at the level of p=0.05 and also p=0.01. In all months a decrease in the water level was noted, although it was statistically significant in seven cases. The highest decrease in average monthly water levels (statistically significant, p=0.05) occurred in August and December and progressed at a rate of 13.2 and 12.3 cm-dec-1. The consequence of the ongoing trend may be, among others, worsening of ichthyofauna living conditions or worse quality of Prosny's water.
