The research deals with blending and segmenting of reading acquisition skills given to the Early Literacy of K-1 and K-2 Children in I Can Read English Course in Bandung City.  The research aims at identifying (1) which skill should be taught first to the students of bilingual school (K1 and K2), blending or segmenting and (2) in using the blending and segmenting, which word divisions (CVC, VCC, CCV) should be taught first to the students of bilingual school (K1-K2). The main data source in this descriptive quantitative research is taken mainly from 38 students of I Can Read English Course  studying in bilingual school of K1 and K2. The research stage consists of following steps: Dividing students into two groups, which will be taught Segmenting-Blending and Blending-Segmenting for ten (10) meetings, providing a list of three word division groups which will be used by the instructor later to test the student

This research analyses the conceptualization of happiness using force image schema in hunger games trilogy books. This research is aimed at elaborating how the process of conceptualizing happiness by using force image schema and analyzing force image by using image schema and other image schema that plays an important role in determining happiness itself as force. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis method. The data are elaborated and described by using conceptual metaphor and force image schema. The results of the conceptualization of happiness using force image schema are occurred due to the lexical items used in each data. Even though these data are classified as happiness using force image schema, each data has different process due to the lexical items used in each sentence. Moreover, one of the data shows a complicated process which involves several image schemas to create a concept of happiness as force.

This research discusses language maintenance experienced by an Indonesian immigrant in Norway. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method by using two instruments: interview and questionnaire. Two types of questions are used in the instrument, i.e. close-ended and open-ended ones. The objective of this research is to explain what kinds of activities as the endeavor of the immigrant in maintaining his native language (Indonesian). The result indicates that the activities conducted by the immigrant as the effort to maintain his native language (Indonesian) cover: 1) Joining the community of Indonesian immigrant in which he can do many activities like gathering together, having meals and travelling together, and discussing various topics including religious ones, 2) periodically-homecoming through which he can visit his family, relatives and friends such as during the Idul Fitri Holiday, 3) communicating with the family (once a week) in Indonesia through telephone or any other media like skype (video call) and facetime, even almost every day if using messaging app infacebook messenger, 4) listening to Indonesian songs, 5) watching Indonesian films, 6) looking for Indonesian news, 7) utilizing social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Path and Snapchat as communication media with his friends in Indonesia.

Transaction of e-commerce is often used to refer to selling physical products online, but can also describe all types of commercial transactions that are facilitated through the internet. This study aims to describe the kinds of Speech Actions in the use of Language as the subject of E-Commerce E-Mail and identify the function of speech acts used in the subject of E-Commerce E-Mail. Advertising is manifested in various forms (declarative, interrogative, imperative or a combination thereof), but all of which state the request or function invite to do something. This is in accordance with the nature of advertising that is persuasive. Then, the variety of languages used is business variety, as well in general, advertisements are presented with simple language and sufficient style interesting, which among others looks at aspects of typography, poetic expressions, and use of repetitive. The method used in this study is a descriptive method. The researcher collects data containing Speech Acts on E-Mail E-Commerce, classifies data according to its type, analyzes data, then draws conclusions from the results of the study. The results of the study show that: (1) there are 4 types of speech acts found in this study, which are locutionary, illocutionary, perlocutionary and combinations and (2) speech act functions found in the analysis are dominated by representative functions.

This study is entitled "Analysis of Translation Methods and Techniques in the Novel Curse of the Wendigo by Rick Yancey. Study: Translation ". The data source used is a novel titled the Curse of the Wendigo by Rick Yancey. The objectives of this research are to (1) identify the translation method used in the translation of the novel The Curse of the Wendigo by Rick Yancey. (2) identify the types of translation techniques used in the translation of Rick Yancey's novel The Curse of the Wendigo. (3) identify the relationship between the translation methods and techniques used in the translation of Rick Yancey's novel The Curse of the Wendigo. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach. The theoretical basis of this research is the theory of the Newmark translation method (1988) and the Molina & Albir (2002) translation techniques. The results of this study indicate that there are: (1) seven translation methods used, namely literal (3.2%), faithful (3.2%), semantic (45.2%), adaptation (3.2%) ), idiomatic (3.2%), free (9.7%), and communicative (32.3%). (2) 17 translation techniques used are adaptation (1.2%), amplification (2.4%), borrowing (3.5%), calculating (2.4%), compensation (1.2%), description (2.4%), prevalent equivalent (3.5%), generalization (2.4%), linguistic amplification (9.4%), linguistic compression (17.6%), literal (20%), modulation ( 7.1%), particularization (2.4%), reduction (1.2%), substitution (1.2%), variation (3.5%), and transposition (18.8%). (3) six of the seven translation methods related to the translation technique used.

This research aims at identifying types of implicature and analyzing types  speech acts  and the strategies employed by the speakers and hearers during the visit at the Museum Asian African Conference.  The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive analysis, where the data is collected, then sorted and categorized and finally analyzed based on the theory. The results show that 1) two types of implicatures are found; conversational implicature (91%) and conventional implicature (9%), 2) Four types of illocutionary acts encountered in the conversation; assertive (90%), directive (6%) commissive (93%) and expressive (1%) and 3) Both strategies are used in delivering illocutionary acts; direct strategies (94%) is more dominant than the indirect one (6%).

Cultural heritage is an object or intangible attribute which is an identity of a society inherited from previous generations, which is preserved for generations to come. Cultural heritage contains not only an objects but also an intangible object such as languages, dialects, and rituals. One of Intangible culture is Sindang Beliti dialect which is from South Sumatera Province. Sindang Beliti dialect included in the Austronesian language used by Sindang tribes which is Lembak, Lembak delapan, and Muara Beliti. This study aimed to determine causal factors of sindang beliti dialect was shifted, and find out what were efforts to maintain the dialect. This study used quantitative-method which data collected by distributing questionnaires to 30 respondents included people, linguists, and Musi Rawas district government. Theory used in this study are from Holmes (2001) and Fishman (1972). The results of this study indicated that there were 3 casual factors of sindang beliti dialect was shifted. They were social, demographic, and legal factors. There were also found 5 efforts to maintain sindang beliti dialect included holding regional song competitions in every anniversary celebration of Musi Rawas district, producing radio broadcasts used sindang beliti dialect, building a playground with the name taken from sindang beliti dialect which is "taman beregam", creating Instagram account used sindang beliti dialect in every posts, and using sindang beliti dialect in government slogan such as "payo ke hikak".

In everyday conversations, there have been found some non-observe to the principle of cooperation which result in different interpretations (implicature). It is a situation where the speaker wants to convey a meaning that is more than the word spoken. Conversational Implicature is intended for the hearer to understand what is said by the speaker; to interpret, to suggest or to explain something. The purpose of the research was to reveal the implicature of speech acts that occur in court in cases of murder of human rights activists. The result of the research is then analyzed with the aim of getting the expected findings. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The data from the research are in the form of text of utterances in the court taken from the internet. The results of this research indicate that the implicature which indicated by evidence of a lie was 15 utterances or 16.8% from 89 utterances or 83.2%. The utterances that was produced included non-observe to one maxim; maxim of quality, non-observe to two maxim; maxim of quality and quantity, and non-observe to three maxim; maxim of manner, quantity, quality and maxim of manner, relevance, quality.
