The results of this study show that there were 132 data with detective action pattern conventions consisting of six phases and four roles. That are 1) introduction of detectives, 2) crime and guidance, 3) investigation, 4) announcement of solution, 5) solution explanation, 6) end of story. In addition, these four roles are those who are exposed to the threat of 1) victims, 2) criminals, 3) detectives, and 4) crimes, but cannot resolve them. Then, it was found that the ending of the story was an archetypal invention in the anime Ryuugajou Nanana No Maizoukin, while the other five anime had archetypal conventions according to Cawelti's theory.  In addition, in this study, it was found that there is a formula invention that occurs in every detective anime. The form of invention in detective anime is to add a supernatural formula to the storyline. Based on the results of data analysis, the conclusion is that the six animes contain the rules and inventions of the formula detective genre. Formula conventions and inventions occur as the audience becomes more interested in the genre. Dandan, dondon, gungun, and masumasu have something in common, which means "more and more", but there are differences between the four adverb that can be seen in the sentences listed in the Asahi Shinbun article. This study aims to determine the structure, function, and contextual meaning of adverb dandan, dondon, gungun, and masumasu found in the June 2020 edition of the Asahi Shinbun article. The data in this study were obtained using the observation method and were collected using note-taking techniques. The collected data were analyzed using Verhaar's (2010) syntactic theory which is supported by the concepts of fukushi dandan, dondon, gungun, and masumasu by Akira (1998) and Pateda's theory of contextual meaning (2010). The method used to analyze the data is the descriptive method, namely by describing the results of the analysis. Based on the results of the analysis, the structure that forms a sentence contains dandan, dondon, gungun, and masumasu, namely followed by verbs, nouns, adjectives, and some are followed by verbs. Dandan shows that it serves to explain verbs, nouns, and verbs. Dondon serves to explain verbs and nouns. Gungun functions only to explain verbs. Masumasu functions to explain verbs and adjectives. Four types of contextual meanings affect dandan sentences, namely the context of the time, the context of the mood of the speaker/listener, the context of the situation, and the context of the goal. Three types of contextual meanings influence the dondon sentence, namely the object context, the objective, and the situation context. Two types of contextual meanings affect the sentence, namely the mood context of the speaker/listener, and the context of the goal and then the contextual meaning affects the masumasu sentence are four types, namely the context of the time, the context of the object, the context of the situation, and the context of the mood of the speaker/listener.

This research aims to determine modalities used in the short story of Issunboushi. Data is gathered by library research technique, meanwhile analysis method used is qualitative descriptive by observation and note-taking technique. As a result, there are 7 types of modality that can be found, such as irai, ishi, setsumei, meirei, ganbou, hikyou, and gaigen. This study discusses the translation of imperative sentences contained in a literary work in the form of a novel. In general, the use of imperative sentences is characterized by the meaning of orders and prohibitions. However, there are differences between the imperative sentences of one language and another. Methods of data analysis are using translational equivalent method and glossing technique. The data were analyzed in two stages. First, categorizing the translation techniques used based on the theory of translation techniques according to Molina and Albir (20002), and second, determining the translation method using the theory of the translation method according to Newmark (1988). Based on the analysis, there were eight types of translation techniques found, namely 1) adaptation techniques; 2) amplification techniques; 3) established equivalent techniques; 4) generalization techniques; 5) linguistic compression techniques; 6) literal translation techniques; 7) modulation techniques; and 8) reduction techniques. Furthermore, translation method classified based on the orientation of the source language and target language is found. The translation method which is oriented to the source language consists of two translation methods, namely the semantic translation method and the literal translation method. Meanwhile, the translation method which is oriented towards the target language consists of three translation methods, namely the free translation method, the idiomatic translation method, and the communicative translation method. The results of this study indicate the translation method that is most widely used in this research is free translation method so that the translation of the imperative sentences applied in translating the novel Girls in the Dark by Andry Setiawan tends to be oriented towards the target language.
