Self-mutilation is not a new trend or phenomenon in adolescents. Self-mutilation can be divided into three categories: major, stereotypic, and moderate/superficial. Moderate/superficial self-mutilation is the most common type in adolescents and includes cutting, burning, and carving. School nurses are positioned to identify, to assist, and to educate adolescents who are self-mutilating, as well as those who may be at risk. A crucial intervention by school nurses is referral of students who are self-mutilating, because it is a gateway to treatment. Treatment, which includes therapy and medication, may be a difficult and lengthy process. The adolescent who self-mutilates may find the school environment difficult during treatment. School nurses must become educated about adolescent self-mutilation in order to care for those who engage in this behavior. Prevention of self-mutilation should focus on increasing coping mechanisms, facilitating decision-making strategies, encouraging positive relationships, and cultivating self-esteem.

Self-harm rates are increasing globally and demand for supporting, treating and managing young people who engage in self-harm often falls to schools. Yet the approach taken by schools varies. This study aimed to explore the experience of school staff managing self-harm, and to obtain their views on the use of guidelines in their work. Twenty-six pastoral care staff from New Zealand were interviewed. Interviews were analyzed and coded using thematic analysis. Three themes emerged: The burden of the role; discrepancies in expectations, training, and experience; and the need for guidelines to support their work. This research, therefore, demonstrated a need for guidelines to support school staff to provide support around decision making and response to self-harm in the school environment.

Purpose of the Study: One of the important features of effective pedagogical school is the close cooperation of parents and teachers in the gifted students’ educationworldwide. Cooperation represents a joint action and negotiation, which is aimed at finding solutions, and a new, common ground. Cooperation between schools and parents may be traditional and partnership-oriented. In what way it will be achieved and placed, depends on the legal regulations, school environment, professional competence and individual characteristics of teachers, sociodemographic, and psychosocial characteristics of the parents. The study aims to determine the teacher functions in cooperation between the family and school. Methodology: The leading approaches to the study of this problem are: the method of historical and logical analysis of regulatory documents of foreign governments and research papers by leading scientists dealing with gifted education issues and the method of analysis, comparison, synthesis and generalization of innovative foreign, and domestic pedagogical experience. Results: The paper is based on the assumption that parents do not participate in decision-making at the school and that the cooperation between family and school in primary schools is still traditional. The results showed that parents are not involved in decision-making at the school, and the cooperation between family and school is still traditional and that is mainly related to parent meetings and informative conversations, without involvement of the partnership. Implication: The authors focus on the specifics of working with gifted students’ parents, as well as on the analysis of the problems of gifted students’ education in different countries. The studies confirm that the task of parents and teachers working with gifted students is to create the necessary conditions and environment in which the gifted students could successfully develop and learn to overcome various difficulties. Novelty: Materials of the article can be useful for professors, teachers, students, and a wide range of readers interested in the problems of gifted students' education.

This quantitative correlational study examined the relationship between the school environment and teachers’ job satisfaction. The study focused on finding the extent to which four predictors of the school environment (teachers’ collaboration, motivation, instructional materials, and teachers’ participation in decision making) predict teachers’ job satisfaction. Besides, the study also aimed at determining which variable is the best predictor of teachers’ job satisfaction. This study was guided by the following research questions: (1) To what extent does teachers’ collaboration influence their job satisfaction? (2) To what extent does teachers’ participation in decision-making influences their job satisfaction? (3) To what extent does motivation influence teachers’ job satisfaction? (4) To what extent do instructional materials influence teachers’ job satisfaction? The simple random sampling technique was used for this study. The sample population was made up of all 550 teachers in 15 public secondary schools, 320 females and 230 males. A questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection. The instrument’s validity and reliability were ensured. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis. Pearson product-moment correlation was used to determine the relationships between the independent variables and the dependent variable. Simple linear regression was used to determine the amount of variance in the dependent variable accounted for by each independent variable. In addition, a multiple regression was used to assess the ability of four control measures to predict teachers’ job satisfaction and to find out which of the independent variables is the best predictor of teachers’ job satisfaction. The study found out that all the independent variables make a unique and statistically significant contribution to predicting teachers’ job satisfaction. The model explains 84.9% of the variance in teachers’ job satisfaction. Teachers’ participation in decision-making made the largest contribution (Beta= .626). This reveals that teachers’ participation in decision-making is the best predictor of teachers’ job satisfaction, followed by motivation (Beta= .532). This study provides useful findings which have implications for school leaders and policy-makers.

Article visualizations:

Salah satu metode MCDM adalah Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). Kata Kunci—Wali kelas, Ideal, TOPSISEducation is one of the important things in a country. Education can be obtained from formal, informal or non-formal education. Examples of formal education are schools and high schools, in schools there is a homeroom teacher who is responsible for students in one class or study room in a school environment. In determining the ideal homeroom, the principal can see the characteristics and abilities of the teacher objectively. Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) is one of the most widely used methods in decision making. One of the MCDM methods is Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). This study uses the TOPSIS method which can analyze multi-criteria decisions where the method can choose the best alternative with the closest distance from the ideal alternative. The results obtained from this study are Determination of the homeroom teacher is done by finding the preference value of each teacher, the largest of the 3 classes used. Calculations performed using different weights for each class in order to get the value of the prefix as a reference for determining the ideal homeroom teacher. Keywords—Homeroom teacher, Ideal, TOPSIS
