The study objective was to examine, develop and apply an integrated lean management, IoT and MFCA system to optimize water management of industrial manufacturing in Thailand to increase efficiency. The results of a case study reduced water use in production processes by 15% per annum, with cost reduction of approximately US$12, 182. Reduced water consumption renders production processes more environmentally friendly, with increased ease and accuracy in managing water resources. Production processes also become more valuable by applying a modern management approach using industrial engineering techniques that enhance productivity, while reducing costs and increasing competitiveness. Results can be used to balance business development and promote the economy, society and environment in Thailand in the future.

Lean management represents a systematic approach used for identifying and eliminating waste and non-value added activities from different industries, including the textile industry. Even if the lean manufacturing concept has shown important results in continuous process industry, the textile industry represents a good area for implementing this methodology targeting as a main objective the action of eliminating waste, thus reducing costs and therefore, increasing productivity. Being a customer oriented process, the system has the ability to eliminate a significant part of waste from the Romanian textile industry. As a result, this is an incipient study aimed to present the benefits of implementing Lean Management in the Romanian textile industry, through its improvement tools, as well as presenting a theoretical economic impact for a textile company. Also, taking into consideration that Lean Management is not yet applied in the Romanian textile field, the study will present a part of the areas which would need the Lean implementation, as well as further actions to be taken in order to improve productivity in textile industry.

Companies benefit society by supplying products and services to customers, creating jobs for people, providing incomes for their employees, investing in knowledge or developing communities. The last decades have witnessed significant developments in re-conceptualizing the role of companies in society. By creating shared value, companies consider society as an integral part of their businesses and link economic performance with societal progress. In order to meet this challenge one of their most valuable options is the implementation of the lean management approach. The chapter aims to explore the theoretical foundation of the shared value concept and to exemplify the case of Toyota Motor Company. The research method is the case study. The study shows that there is a Toyota Way in creating shared value.

The high complexity and a multitude of constraints in today’s industrial manufacturing require a detailed planning of techniques as well as processes even before the building of production plants. Apart from technique- or process-related planning parameters, environmental aspects are separately considered in the task of planning. The approach of an integration of environmental information into a tool for planning production processes pursues the combination of both points of view. As a result, the expected generation of substances causing environmental hazards during production can hereby be uncovered even before an industrial plant is built. In this way actions for protecting employees and environment will early be considered and later high-cost conversions of plants are avoidable. The described concept is related to business practise by the development of a prototype in connection with a case study and shows the potential of the integration of both planning views.

Participating in the automotive industry brings new responsibilities for suppliers who, in order to meet customer demands, must strive towards improving business processes, while at the same time reducing costs. These demands can disrupt the operations of companies that do not have a system for controlling logistics costs. On the other hand, customer demands can be the cause of other types of disruptions in companies that have such a system in place, stemming from an excessive focus on cost reduction. To tackle this problem, a survey was conducted on a sample of 30 Slovenian companies that operate as suppliers in the automotive industry. Its objective was to determine how different customer demands along the supply chain can affect the business processes of suppliers and the level of logistics costs. The survey revealed that companies that use a system for controlling logistics costs experience fewer disruptions in their business processes in their efforts to satisfy customer demands. These companies also display a higher level of integration of business processes and use a different approach when dealing with the various participants of the supply chain. The survey also sets clear participation guidelines for suppliers in the supply chain of the automotive industry and points out how companies can benefit from using a system for controlling logistics costs in other ways, aside from the cost controlling aspect.

The development of products destined to cover specific needs plays an important role when it is possible to have feedback, in terms of functionality, on the part of the final user for the consolidation of the product. Seeking such consolidation and identifying opportunities for improvement, in this paper a redesign was made based on specific criteria to align the manufacturing to mass production. The following premises were raised: 1) validation of the de-sign proposal; 2) comparative and operational analysis; 3) geometry optimization for weight and production cost reduction. This paper proposes a new design of the drawbar body of a tractor (case study) and the theoretical framework is established taking the bases of the concurrent engineering to define and characterize the final architecture configuration. Is reported the methodology used for the development of this research and the results obtained by finite element analysis for architecture optimization. Finally, are presented the defined strategies for aligning manufacturing to production.

Current supply chain methods are having difficulties in resolving problems arising from the lack of trust in supply chains. The root reason lies in two challenges brought to the traditional mechanism: self-interests of supply chain members and information asymmetry in production processes. Blockchain is a promising technology to address these problems. The key objective of this paper is to present qualitative analysis for blockchain in supply chain as the decision-making framework to implement this new technology. The analysis method used Val IT business case framework, validated by the expert judgements. The further study needs to be elaborated by either the existing organization that use blockchain or assessment by the organization that will use blockchain to improve their supply chain management.

Introduction.Construction of engineering structures is impossible without building and road machines. The large volume of financing is allocated for such machines’ purchase. The main ways of reducing costs of the equipment consist in more rational operation of the equipment and also in decrease of equipment’s cost by constructive changes. The paper demonstrates the new design of the single-bucket hydraulic excavator with smaller cost.Materials and methods.The main ways of cost reduction for construction machines are more rational operation and depreciation of a design with the required characteristics’ maintaining. The paper describes constructive changes of the working equipment of the single-bucket hydraulic excavator, which allow decreasing the production costs.Results.The authors describe the new bucket design of the single-bucket hydraulic excavator. Moreover, the authors carry out the analysis of the existing buckets’ design. The paper also illustrates the functioning on bucket forces while digging process. The authors describe the solutions of the problem for productivity increase of the single-bucket in hydraulic excavators. In addition, the authors make the scheme of the bucket loading while digging process. Such scheme helps to reduce resistance forces of digging.Discussion and conclusions.As a result, the paper presents the design of the working equipment of the hydraulic excavator’s single-bucket, which allows reducing resistance forces of digging. Such results would help to establish buckets of bigger capacity and would lead to the productivity increase.
