Assessment of local seismicity caused by human engineering activity is a necessity after several earthquakes have been recorded in world practice, which destroyed a hydraulic structure, a dam and accompanied by human casualties. The Tupalang, Gissarak and Pachkamar reservoirs, operated in southern Uzbekistan, are located in the mountain system of the southern part of the Tien Shan seismogenic fault. According to the general seismic zoning, the zones where these reservoirs are located are classified as 8-9 magnitude shakes during strong earthquakes. Localisation of local earthquakes associated with the operation of these reservoirs is necessary for taking operational measures to prevent possible emergencies associated with an increase in the level of technogenic seismicity. Methods for assessing the local seismic regime were used to track the level of local seismicity. The catalogs of local earthquakes occurring in the zone of active influence of reservoirs have been compiled. The seismic activity levels and changes in the angle of inclination of the recurrence of earthquakes were determined for each object separately. The dependence of the variation in the level of local seismicity on the mode of operation of reservoirs has been revealed. Several evidence of the negative impact of large hydraulic reservoirs on the deformation and seismic state of the zones of influence of reservoirs in southern Uzbekistan have been identified.

Abstract Background The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has resulted in a strong negative impact on economic and social life worldwide. It has also negatively influenced people’s general health and quality of life. The aim of the present study was to study the impact of social distancing on physical activity level, and the association between mood state (depression and anxiety level) or sex with actual physical activity levels, the change in physical activity caused by social distancing period, the adhesion level to social distancing, the adoption time of social distancing, family income and age. Methods A self-administered questionnaire with personal, quarantine, physical activity, and mood state disorders information’s was answered by 2140 Brazilians of both sex who were recruited through online advertising. Results The physical activity level adopted during the period of social distancing (3.5 ± 0.8) was lower than that the adopted prior to the pandemic period (2.9 ± 1.1, p < 0.001). Thirty percent of the participants presented symptoms of moderate/severe depression and 23.3% displayed moderate/severe anxiety symptoms. A greater presence of symptoms related to anxiety and depression were associated with low physical activity levels, low family monthly income, and younger age. A higher percentage of men who had no mood disorders was observed among those who were very active than among those less active. Conclusion The COVID-19 pandemic has a negative impact on physical activity. Those who reduced their level of physical activity had the highest levels of mood disorders. Therefore, physical activity programs should be encouraged, while respecting the necessary social distancing to prevent the spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2.

The purpose of the study is to reveal whether the preconscious messages which are given as social messages to teaching staff, will cause any change in their physical activity habits. And to suggest social marketing strategies which are required to be developed in that direction. The mixed research method and triangulation  model were both used in the study. The teaching staff of AİBÜ Gölköy Campus were the main mass and the study was conducted around 15th January 2015- 25th May 2015. Convenience sampling method was utilized from non-random sampling methods. According to findings of mix research, “both experimental and control groups had awareness on physical activity and they were both affected to valuate themselves on physical activity levels” were concluded. Beside these, another major conclusion was; the preconscious messages which are given to affect control groups’ physical activity habits had negative impact on control group. ÖzetÇalışmanın amacı, öğretim elemanlarına sosyal mesaj olarak verilen bilinç öncesi mesajların fiziksel aktivite alışkanlıkları üzerinde değişim yaratıp yaratmayacağını ortaya koymak, bu yönde gerekli sosyal pazarlama stratejilerinin geliştirilmesinde önerilerde bulunmaktır. Araştırmada, karma araştırma yöntemi ve çeşitleme modelinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmada tesadüfi olmayan örnekleme yöntemlerinden, kolayda örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma AİBÜ Gölköy Yerleşkesi’nde 15 Ocak 2015-25 Mayıs 2015 tarihlerinde yürütülmüştür. Uygulanan karma araştırma yöntemi sonucunda hem deney, hem kontrol grubu için fiziksel aktivite konusunda farkındalık ve katılımcıların kendilerini fiziksel aktivite düzeyleri konusunda değerlendirmeleri açısından etki yarattığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Önemli bir diğer sonuç da bilinç öncesi mesajların fiziksel aktivite alışkanlığını etkileme boyutunda deney grubu üzerinde negatif etki yarattığıdır.

abstract This paper reports preliminary results of an analysis of the spectral content of seismic waves from over 1,000 local earthquakes in the Garm, Tadjikistan region. Very low values of Q (∼100) were obtained for the Mesozoic and Cenozoic sedimentary rocks of the Peter I Range compared with those in the crystalline rock of the South Tien Shan (Q ≳ 500). For events with the same low frequency spectra, earthquakes in the South Tien Shan are recorded with more energy at higher frequencies than earthquakes in the Peter I Range, at least in part, because of the greater attenuation of the sedimentary rock in the latter region. There is a wide variety of spectra radiated by earthquakes throughout the Garm region, but a marked difference between spectra radiated by earthquakes from these two regions is not apparent. Nevertheless although calculated stress drops of earthquakes appear to vary considerably throughout the region, there appears to be a dependence on the type of rock in which the earthquakes occurred. The variation in calculated stress drops, however, is greater within either region than between the two. For most regions and for most of the range of seismic moments studied the shape of the spectrum is relatively independent of seismic moment. Consequently, calculated stress drops increase with seismic moment, with the functional dependence varying from region to region. For the largest events, the spectrum shifts to lower frequencies with increasing moment and stress drops become essentially independent of moment. Preliminary results suggest that the stress drops are not detectably different for earthquakes with thrust or normal faulting fault-plane solutions. A limited amount of data are consistent with a change in spectral content and stress drop of earthquakes in the vicinity of and before stronger earthquakes but a clear, consistent pattern is not yet evident. Toward high frequencies, S-wave spectra both begin to decrease at lower frequencies and seem to decrease more rapidly than P-wave spectra, in contrast with predictions of published dislocation models of earthquakes.

An ATOVS and MERRA data archive containing temperature values at isobaric levels from 1000 to 50 hPa was formed to study the atmospheric effects observed over the foci of two strong earthquakes with magnitudes M = 7,3. The first seismic event was recorded on August 19, 1992 in the northern Tien Shan and the second on November 12, 2017 in the border areas of the Zagros folded mountain belt. According to USGS intense aftershock activity in these regions began with these seismic events. Using correlation and spectral analysis we studied the vertical profiles of temperature and pressure in a disturbed atmosphere over seismically active regions. The modified anomaly index was calculated at isobaric levels from 500 to 50 hPa and on its basis the registered temperature anomalies were investigated.

Abstract Background In response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the UK government introduced social distancing measures and identified specific populations at high risk from the virus. People ≥70 were deemed ‘Clinically Vulnerable’. Distancing measures were introduced to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19. However, these may have a negative impact on older people who are vulnerable to social isolation and may have challenges accessing services and provisions. Objectives To investigate the impact of COVID-19 lockdown measures on the lives of older people. Study design and setting Cross-sectional telephone survey. Participants Community-dwelling older people, 76–97 years. Outcomes Health anxiety; General health (RAND Short-form 36 Survey); Physical activity; Depression (PHQ-8); Anxiety (GAD-2); Loneliness; Access to services; Challenges, concerns and positive experiences. Data analysis Counts (%), means (SDs). Thematic analysis was used to identify themes from open questions. Results n = 142. 52% did not worry about their health; 76% rated their health as ‘good’, ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’; &lt;10% met the criteria indicative of depression (PHQ-8), or anxiety (GAD-2); 42% were less active than before lockdown; and 27% were lonely at least some of the time. Over half of participants identified positive aspects. Conclusions Most participants reported good health with low levels of health anxiety, anxiety and depression. Many were able to identify positive aspects to lockdown and may be better equipped to deal with lockdown than anticipated. Strategies may be required to ameliorate the negative impact of loneliness for a minority of older people, and help some resume previous activity levels and pursuits.

Debris flow is one of the major geological disasters in mountain areas. This paper systematically analyzes the influence of steep terrain conditions, the development of regional structure, neotectonic movement and earthquake, wide distribution of debris, human engineering activity and rainfall concentrated climate conditions in debris flow area. The dominant factors inducing Zhaohe debris flow were revealed, providing guidance for the debris flow disaster prevention, as well as reference for the same area debris flow cause analysis.

The impacts of seismicity on the landslide activity in Kyrgyzstan have been in the focus of our study since 2010 [Kalmetyeva et al., 2010]. As the study progressed [Kalmetyeva, Moldobekov, 2012, 2013; Kalmetyeva et al., 2013, 2014], the initial problem statement has been revised as follows: do earthquake influence the occurrence of land‐ slides, and, if so, what is the mechanism of this influence. This paper presents the results of detailed analysis of the distribution of earthquakes and landslides in space and time in correlation with focal mechanisms (azimuth and plunge of the principal compression stress axis) of earthquakes occurred in the Fergana basin and its mountainous frame. These are grounds to conclude that the landslide activity is mainly influenced by the response of the internal structure of the upper crust to local stresses. The mechanism of influence of strong earthquakes on the landslide activity is redistribution of local stresses, which results from partial release of regional stresses due to rupturing in the source zones of strong earthquakes. Using this concept of the landslide activity, a methodology of landslide‐hazard mapping is the goal of our future studies aimed at the following: (1) zoning of the study area with respect to the features of the internal structure of the upper crust, (2) geological, geophysical and seismological studies of the state of stresses in the study area, (3) instrumental monitoring of landslides movements in the zones that differ in the structure of the upper crust, and (4) analysis of preparation and consequences of past strong earthquakes that took place in the study area in comparison with the landslide activity.

On the base of investigation of material kept in Herbarium of flora laboratory (Institute for Biology and Pedology, National Aсademy of Sciences (FRU), a synopsis of the genus Phleum L. (Poaceae) in flora of Kyrgyz Republic with a key for identification of species and short citats is presented. Six species are recognized in Kyrgyz Republic (Phleum phleoides H. Karst., Phleum himalaicum Mez, Phleum paniculatum Huds., Phleum pratense L., Phleum roshevitzii Pavlov, Phleum alpinum L.). Phleumroshevitzii Pavlov newly reported for Kyrgyz Republic (Issyk-Kul Lake depression, Northern Kyrgyzstan). Maps of distribution for species growing in Kyrgyz Republic (Laskov GA., Sultanova BA., 2011) and list of studied specimens are provided. NK - Northern Kyrgyzstan (Chu Valley with adjacent northern macro-slope of Alexander Mountain Range, and the basin of Chon-Kemin River); IK - Issyk-Kul Lake depression (including northern macro-slope of TerskeiAla-Too Mountain Range, southern slope of KungeiAla-Too Mountain Range, basins of Tyup, Jergalan, and Karkyra rivers); CT - Central Tien Shan (basin of the Sary-Dzhaz River); WT - esternTien Shan (Talas and Chatkal valleys together with slopes of adjacent mountain ranges, and Ketmen-Tyube Valley); F - Cis-Ferghanian Kyrgyzstan (edges of the Fergana Valley, with adjacent macro-slopes of Chatkal Mountain Range, Fergana Mountain Range, Turkestan Mountain range, and Alai Mountain System); IT - Inner Tien Shan (the area bounded in the north by Kyrgyz Mt. About 40 % of nearly uninhabitable: glaciers, permanent snow, rocks, scree, alpine desert, etc. Ca. 7 % of territory is occupied by the cultural landscape: fields, settlements, roads, and industry (Atlas…1987). This study aimed to compare physical activity (PA) levels before and during a pandemic lockdown among adolescent Polish youths in relation to meeting the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recommendations of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and identify potential environmental factors that may affect these levels. An online survey tool that included validated measures of adolescents’ MVPA and socio-environmental, potential confounders was administered to youths (e.g., lack of classmates, motivation, possibility of choosing any physical exercise time, possibility of choosing your own exercises, home environment). The analytic sample comprised 127 adolescents aged 15.4 ± 0.5 years on average (52% girls and 48% boys). The results highlight that among adolescents who did not meet the WHO MVPA recommendations before the lockdown, 13.4% had an increased frequency of PA (from 2.9 to 5.4 day/week) (p = 0.01) during the lockdown. In the group who did meet these recommendations before the lockdown, 50% significantly decreased their level of MVPA below the WHO’s recommendations (p = 0.01). Self-rated health for PA showed a significantly strong correlation with MVPA in the group of students who met the WHO recommendations before the pandemic (r = 0.76; p < 0.05) but failed to maintain that recommendation during the COVID-19 restriction. The results suggest a negative impact of the pandemic on PA undertaken by youths. Based on these results we see the need for increased action by both Physical Education (PE) teachers and parents to motivate and support youngsters in taking up systematic PA consciously.
