In recent decades, philosophy has been identified as a general approach to enhance the maturity of higher education as a field of study by enriching theory and method. In this article, I offer a new set of philosophical recommendations to spur the disciplinary development of higher education, departing from previous work in several meaningful ways. Due to their deep and useful connections to higher education research, philosophy of measurement, virtue epistemology, and Bayesian epistemology are introduced and discussed in relation to their conceptual association and potential practical influence on the study of higher education. The culmination of these points signals a learnercentered lens focused on the development of students.

The article focuses on factors that influence the development of professional competencies, promotes people’s professional improvement, their involvement in their work. Professional insights serve as a bridge between the personal and the professional. The analysis of modern empirical research shows that higher education efficiently promotes the development of people’s professional insights. It also shows that people’s professional development has significant reserves. The hypothesis of the research consists in the assumption that there are certain factors that hinder the development of students’ professional insights in the process of education. The analysis of the peculiarities of professional insights development enables the authors of the article to assume that one of the factors is students’ predisposition towards negative emotions. To prove the hypothesis, students were engaged into learning activities aimed at the development of coping skills. The experiment showed that students’ professional insights were developed more efficiently and rapidly. Therefore, negative emotions associated with the process of education are a factor that significantly hinders the development of students’ professional insights.

We analyze the results of empirical operationalization of options (types) of psychosocial development in adolescent age. We studied a large sample of adolescents and young adults of 12-20 years (N = 1130, 48% male) from different strata of the urban and rural (17%) Ukrainian population (students of secondary, vocational, technical and higher education). We used the author’s method “Psychosocial Questionnaire”. Data were analyzed with K-means cluster analysis. We identified and analyzed five clusters (“internal”, “dominant”, “integrated”, “addict”, “aloof”), which represent individually typical features of modern youth psychosocial transition to a state of maturity. Clusters (types) were also analyzed with the following criteria: 1) productive / prosperous and non¬productive / dysfunctional types of psycho-social development; 2) psychosocial integration / adaptation and disintegration / maladaptation in the social world. The emergence of music philetics theoretically makes it possible to anchor the issue of music experience in connection with music creation and to use inspiration from music therapy in the educational process, focus music experiences on the personal and social development of students and offer practical solutions for the implementation of music experience methods developing and enriching personalities of particular individuals. The concept of music philetics is not yet clearly defined and practically used. Further development will show its need in society and viability.
