Progress does not amount to destroying the future, but to preserving its essence, to generate the impetus to do it better today (Y. Ortega Y Gasset 1951). Working in the areas of history and construction technology, the spirit of these statement guided my research: developing a research method for buildings not listed (yet) as monuments but needed to be analysed before the next approach. When studying buildings it is essential to consider not only the art history, social and urban planning factors, but especially the construction engineering aspects. In this way, a deeper understanding of the underlying design and building methods used in our built environment can be developed. There have been many historical and architectural studies of buildings. The period since the Second World War has received particular interest. Unfortunately, most of these studies do not address the technical aspects of the construction of these buildings. However, these issues were covered by publications at the time these buildings were constructed. Technology provided me with the inspiration to develop a more comprehensive research method to assess buildings: Analysing Buildings from Context to Detail in time: ABCD research method. Technology, at academic level, should be considered in the analysis of a building. Here we are concerned with construction engineering, the study of the requirements associated with constructing buildings. The Analysing Building Construction in time research matrix (ABC matrix) can be used in practice. It incorporates the study outcomes which relate to the building itself. Contextual aspects as well as building aspects are included. They can be analysed at the three time levels to draw conclusions which are relevant to the future existence of the building. The case study of the Friesland Provincial Library in Leeuwarden will be worked out in the conference paper.

The Government could perform its functions and tasks if it has qualified personnel. To improve its personnel’s competence, the Government has been conducting several kinds of training which have not brought satisfactory results. This research aimed at exploring the possibility of implementing andragogic concept in a training model to improve the training graduates’ competence. This case study was conduced in The Education and Training Center of Yogyakarta Province and found an andragogy-based training model with detailed steps. Anticipating some hindrances that could be faced by the trainers in implementiation of this model, this research recommended some alternative solutions.

This paper compiles the indigenous technologies adopted in the Bhaktapur municipality, Nepal in the unreinforced masonry construction of traditional Newari houses constituting more than 90% buildings in Bhaktapur municipality and their significance during the earthquake. The building units adopted in this area are studied with respect to their performance during earthquake on the basis of seismic resistant design philosophy. The traditionally built non-engineered buildings have drawn the attention of disaster managers for many years; in this regard, the unreinforced masonry buildings (Newari houses) were assessed after the Sikkim-Nepal boarder earthquake of 2011.Still, the buildings constructed before the starting of engineering construction in Nepal are widely used for residential purpose at this culturally rich city and the traditional building construction technology which is the indigenous technology has been practiced for centuries too. The building features are analyzed with respect to their seismic performance and their contribution was analyzed as per the historical database; established practices and theories for earthquake resistant design (EQRD). The collected features and the analyses proved the features of the buildings to be sound during earthquake, though; the buildings were constructed with indigenous technology which nevertheless consults the EQRD within it. The indigenous technology at this city has been attached with the culture of the Newars for centuries.

Of the construction processes involved in high-rise building construction, core wall construction is a highly repetitive construction works. Therefore, the effective management of core wall construction works by a project manager can save costs and shorten the duration of high-rise building construction. This study analyzes a case in which a core structure succeeding method (CSSM) is applied to core wall construction. The results of the case study found that the efficiency of CSSM in terms of construction costs and duration is higher than that of the core wall preceding construction method (CWPCM).

This article discusses the Business Entity condition of Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri, the involvement of santri and communities in Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri's Business Entity, and the contribution of Business Entities towards Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri, santri and their communities. This article was prepared using a qualitative case study type method. This article concludes that Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri have a Business Entity. Business entities owned by Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri has established three Perseroan Terbatas stands for PT (Limited Company). PT. Sidogiri Mitra Utama serves the needs of santri, PT. Sidogiri Mandiri Utama, engaged in bottled drinking water and PT. Sidogiri Pandu Utama, engaged in the Outsourcing Provider and Training Center. The involvement of santri and the community around these two Pondok Pesantren in managing the Business Entity is quite active. This active participation implies that these very diverse Business Entities are all oriented towards improving welfare. So that the existence of Business Entity's Pondok Pesantren positively contributes to the independence of santri, Pondok Pesantren, and the community.

Education and Training is a form of institutional intervention so that employees have competency standards so that they are able to carry out their duties properly and appropriately. This study discusses the improvement of teacher competency in the implementation of scientific publications through Training in the Workplace (DDTK) Classroom Action Research (PTK). DDTK aims to improve the technical competence of civil servants and non-civil servants of the ministry of religion according to their duties and positions and develop insight into employee duties related to new regulations / policies / provisions, new technologies, or new knowledge relevant to their main tasks and functions. The main objective of Classroom Action Research (CAR) is the improvement and improvement of learning services. The population and sample of this study were participants of the Madrasah teacher training in the Workplace (DDTK) in Bangka, Belitung, and East Belitung Regencies in the 2016 and 2017. The study used multiple regression using Adjusted Square. Calculations for this multiple regression using SPSS statistical version 16 software. From the results of the research, it was found that the average of DDTK Bangka District Classroom Action Research (PTK) 2016 and 2017 were 51.41, and the average DDTK Class Action Research substance (PTK) Belitung Regency in 2016 and 2017 amounted to 50.39, with a difference in mean scores of 1.02. The average understanding of madrasah teachers in Bangka Regency 2016 and 2017 PTK writing was 118.20, and the average madrasah teacher understanding in Belitung Regency PTK writing in 2016 and 2017 was 118.88, with a mean difference of 0.68. The regression coefficient of the Education and Training Center (DDTK) variable (X2) has a positive sign (0.074), which means that the Education and Training Center (DDTK) variable has a positive influence on teacher understanding. The hypothesis which states that there is an effect of the Workplace Education Training (DDTK) substance on Classroom Action Research (CAR) on the understanding of madrasah teachers in writing PTK is statistically proven. Keywords: Training at Workplace, Classroom Action Research, Teacher's Understanding
