Abstract The study aim to analyze the spatial map of the density of Aedes sp., several measurement methods, and the relationship between environmental factors with mosquito density in Makassar City, Maros and Gowa Cities. The research method used an ecological study design. In this study, surveys of larvae, ovitrap and Lighttrap were be used to measure the density of Aedes sp. Data processing using SPSS version 22 and Arview GIS 10.5. The results that spatial analysis showed a random pattern or spread of density of larvae, ovitrap and adult mosquitoes. the Larva and Ovitrap survey methods were specific measured the density of Dengue vectors (larvae, eggs and adult mosquitoes Aedes aegypti) while the Light Trap method was not specific. There was a significant relationship between temperature, humidity and egg density and Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in three DHF endemic sub-districts; except humidity and mosquito density was not significant in Bontoa Village of Maros Regency (p> 0.05). There was no significant relationship between the wire netted ventilation factor and the density of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in the three DHF endemic sub-districts except for the mosquito density there was a significant relationship in Bontoa Village, Maros Regency.

Stunting is caused by three factors, involving individuals’ food intake, birth weight, and health condition; the quality and quantity of food nutrition, human resources, number and family structure, parenting, health care, and services; and environmental factors that include social infrastructure, educational services and health services. This aimed to find the relationship between mothers’ education level and exclusive breastfeeding toward the toddlers’ stunting in South Sulawesi Province 2015 based on the report of secondary data analysis on Nutrition Status (PSG) 2015.This research used 2015 PSG data with observational design. The samples in this research were toddlers in 3 cities or regency in South Sulawesi Province with the highest stunting event rate, they were Jeneponto (300 toddlers), Pangkep (300 toddlers) and Tana Toraja (298 toddlers). Secondary data were taken from PSG report of 2015. The nutrition status was measured by anthropometry. Mothers’ education level and exclusive breastfeeding data were obtained by asking respondents using PSG 2015 questionnaires. To find out the relationship of two variables, it was conducted yate's correlation test using SPSS program. The data were presented in the form of frequency distribution tables and narration. The results showed that the prevalence of stunting was 44%. The proportion of lower educated mothers was 56.5%, while exclusive breastfeeding was quite high at 94.8%. Mothers with less education (27.7%) had stunting children, while 27.3% well-educated mothers have normal children and there was a significant relationship between mother education level and stunting on toddlers (p = 0,001). The stunting was found on toddlers who are not exclusively breastfed (0.9%) and exclusively breastfed (43.1%), and there was a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and stunting incidence in toddlers (p = 0.000).

ABSTRACT The exotic arboviruses chikungunya (CHIKV) and Zika (ZIKV) recently caused large outbreaks and continue to circulate in Puerto Rico, prompting entomological investigations at 9 locations with confirmed CHIKV- or ZIKV-infected human cases. Adult mosquitoes were collected using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention autocidal gravid ovitraps over a 14-day period at each site. Mean female Aedes aegypti captured per trap-week ranged from 13.47 per trap-week to 1.27 per trap-week. Arbovirus-positive pools were detected at 7 of the 9 sampling sites. We investigated vertical transmission by collecting Ae. aegypti eggs in a single location where ZIKV was found in adult mosquitoes. We discuss the relationship between vector density and infection rates and its implications for determining mosquito density thresholds of novel invasive arboviruses such as CHIKV and ZIKV.

This paper investigates fandom as a phenomenon of communication science through an interdisciplinary perspective, especially in relation to the psychology discipline of communication and consumer behavior. The researcher seeks to investigate the correlation between parasocial relationships (Parasocial relationships/PSR) and fan loyalty behavior, specifically the consumption behavior of the brands and products associated with their idols. The research will be carried out using survey methods, with PSI Process Scale to measure parasocial relationship variables, and commitment models to measure fan loyalty behavior. From the questionnaires distributed online, 271 valid questionnaires were obtained which were analyzed using mean analysis, correlation test, and cross tabulation analysis. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between parasocial relationships and fan loyalty. The results also show that the closest relationship is shown by the behavioral dimension with the interaction dimension, while the relationship with the lowest score is shown by the relationship between the perceptual-cognitive dimension and desire to acquire.

SummaryThe validity of a previously described technique for predicting warfarin requirements based on the anticoagulant response to a fixed loading dose was assessed prospectively in 57 patients. There was a close relationship between the predicted and initially observed daily warfarin dose required to maintain the patient within the therapeutic range for anticoagulation. The significant relationship between predicted and observed maintenance dose persisted at 4 and 12 weeks although it decreased with increasing time. The relationship between observed and predicted maintenance requirement of warfarin was not affected by the concomitant use of intermittent intravenous injections of heparin when 9 hr was allowed to elapse between the previous dose of heparin and the thrombotest estimation on which the prediction was based. It is concluded that the method is valuable in predicting an individual’s warfarin requirement, although it does not obviate the need for regular monitoring of anticoagulant control.

The focus of this study is to find the relationship between El Nino and dengue fever cases in the study area.Mosquito density was recorded with the help of light traps and through aspirators collection. Climate data were obtained from National Meteorology and Environment centre. (Year wise El Nino and La Nina data are according to NOAA & Golden Gate Weather Services). Statistical methods were used to establish the correlation coefficient between different factors. A high significant relationship was observed between Relative Humidity and Dengue fever cases, but Aedes abundance had no significant relationship with either Relative humidity and Temperature. Our conclusion is that the El Nino does not affect the dengue transmission and Aedes mosquito abundance in this region, which is supported by earlier works.
