ABSTRACT Background The purpose of this study was to expand the School Physical Activity and Nutrition questionnaire to include a greater variety of vegetables and to evaluate the relative validity and reliability of these revised items. Objectives This study utilized 2 convenience samples of third to fifth graders for an analysis: validity (n = 70) and reliability (n = 76). Validity was assessed by comparing questionnaire items with vegetable intake reported from a 24-hour dietary recall covering the same reference period. Reliability estimates were assessed via same-day test-retest. Results Agreement correlations ranged from 0.35 to 0.71. Kappa statistics varied from 0.16 to 0.66. Percentage agreements ranged from 57% to 87%. Test-retest Spearman coefficients were greater than 0.50 for 6 items, weighted Kappa values were greater than 0.40 for all 7 items, and percentage agreement exceeded 75% for 5 items. Conclusions Results suggest that the questionnaire is a valid and reliable measure of the previous day's vegetable intake in third- to fifth-grade students. This trial was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov as NCT02668744.

AbstractObjectiveThe present study evaluates the reliability and validity of an FFQ designed for use with adolescents in urban Vietnam.DesignA cohort study was conducted between December 2003 and June 2004. The FFQ was administered three times over a 6-month period (FFQ 1–3) and nutrient intakes were compared to those obtained from four 24 h recalls collected over the same period (24 h recalls 1–4) using crude, energy-adjusted and de-attenuated correlation coefficients. The level of agreement between the two measurements was also evaluated with Bland–Altman analysis. The percentage of nutrient intakes classified within one quintile, as well as quadratic-weighted kappa statistics, were calculated.SettingHo Chi Minh City, Vietnam.SubjectsA total of 180 students were recruited in three junior high schools.ResultsCoefficients ranged from 0·22 for retinol to 0·78 for fibre for short-term reliability, and from 0·30 for retinol to 0·81 for zinc for long-term reliability. Coefficients for nutrient intakes between the mean of the three FFQ and mean of four 24 h recalls were mostly around 0·40, but higher for energy-adjusted nutrients. After allowing for within-person variation, the mean coefficient was 0·52 for macronutrients and 0·46 for micronutrients. There were a relatively high proportion of nutrient intakes classified within one quintile and a small number grossly misclassified. Kappa values shows ‘fair’ to ‘good’ agreement for all food/nutrient categories, while the Bland–Altman plots indicated that the FFQ is accurate in assessing nutrient intake at a group level.ConclusionsThis newly developed FFQ is a valid tool for measuring nutrient intake in adolescents in urban Vietnam.

The research aims at identifying the effect of the Fink model in the achievement of the psychology principles of the fifth grade students and their mental motivation. The experimental design of the experimental and control groups was used. The researcher randomly selected Division B to represent the experimental group that is taught according to the Fink model, (A) The control group studying the traditional method, the number of female students (60) students by (30) students in each division. The two groups were equalized in the variables: age, intelligence, mental motivation. The researcher prepared the research tool which is the achievement test and verified the validity and reliability of the test, the adoption of the mental motivation scale and the testing of the psychometric characteristics. The researcher used the T-test for two independent data processing , The results showed the superiority of the experimental group in achievement and mental motivation via the control group

The problem in this research is the low thematic learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the existence of a positive and significant influence between parenting patterns and interest in learning on the learning outcomes of fifth Sgraders at SD Negeri 1 Gunung Tiga. This type of research is quantitative research with ex-postfacto research methods. The data collection technique is observation questionnaire questionnaire. The data collection instrument is a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The previous one has been tested for validity and reliability. The results showed that There is a positive and significant influence between parenting and interest in learning on the learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 1 Gunung Tiga, indicated by the coefficient of determination r square of 0.603, which means 60.3% of the effect of parenting on parents (X1) and interest in learning (X2) on learning outcomes (Y) category "Strong".

This study was designed to reveal the effectiveness of integrating educational robots (ERs) with hypermedia in improving the acquisition of scientific concepts among fifth-grade students in Jordan. The present study utilized a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design with a control group (CG) and an experimental group (EG). The participants of this study consisted of 50 fifth-grade female students attending a private school in the city of Amman during the 2019/2020 academic year. Participants’ ages ranged between (10-11) years old. The school was selected purposively, and classes were randomly assigned to the EG and the CG. In order to accomplish the aims of this study, a scientific concept test (SCT) was developed and its validity and reliability were ensured. The EG was taught a unit on motion and force by robot and hypermedia instruction, while the CG was taught the same unit by traditional instruction. Data was collected through administration of the presently developed SCT at pretest and posttest points. Then, this data was analyzed through covariance analysis. The findings of this analysis revealed that 66% of the variation in the fifth-grade students’ posttest SCT scores can be ascribed to the effect of teaching method. From this study, one can conclude that the integration of ERs with hypermedia has a positive impact on students’ acquisition of scientific concepts. These results may serve to encourage science teachers to integrate ERs with hypermedia when teaching scientific concepts.

This study aims to determine whether there is significant relationship between self confidence and mathematics learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 136 Pekanbaru. It is a correlation research where population of all students of fifth grade at SD Negeri 136 Pekanbaru consisted of 109 students while the sampling method is cluster sampling. The instruments used are self confidence questionnaire and documentation of student mathematics learning outcomes that have been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis used by the writer is product moment correlation test. The result shows that there is a significant relationship between self confidence and mathematics learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 136 Pekanbaru with a large relationship of 0.345 and it is categorized in low relationship category. This means that the increase in variable x will be followed by an increase in variable y. The coefficient of determination in this study is 0.119 which means that self-confidence contributes to student mathematics learning outcomes by 11.9% and the remaining 88.1% is caused by other factors such as teachers, infrastructure, intelligence and student motivation. The results of this study can provide information about one of the factors that affect student learning outcomes in mathematics so that the school, teachers and parents can determine effective steps to improve student mathematics learning outcomes.

The purpose of this study was to develop teacher-parent communication competence scale in order to measure the communication competences utilized by teachers while communicating with the parents of their students. In the development phase of the scale, an item pool was generated and draft form was designed which were later subjected to expert opinion for content and face validity. The finalized scale was administered to 196 teachers teaching fourth and fifth grade students, and explanatory factor analysis was performed. As a result of these procedures, 4 factors including 33 items in total were generated in the “teacher-parent communication competence scale”. Apart from these, the reliability coefficients (Cronbach’s α) of all scales and their sub-dimensions, factor-based differentiation operations, matter-remaining and matter-total correlations were calculated. After all these validity and reliability processes, it was concluded that the scale is valid in determining teacher - parent communication competences. Keywords: Primary School, Teacher, Parent, Communication Competence, Scale Development
