Abstract An educational program was developed to assist beef producers with making informed bull purchasing decisions. There are two core pieces to this decision: targeting the bull’s genetics to the producer’s management and resources, and paying a price that maximizes the return on investment. This was a two-part educational program; the first session was classroom instruction with topics related to proper bull selection. At the conclusion of this session producers were assigned one of five management scenarios and received a sale catalogue with 60 bulls. Videos of all bulls were made available, along with all production information, including adjusted measurements, EPD and indices. The producers were tasked with returning the next week to attend the mock auction and purchase the best valued bull for their assigned scenario. At the conclusion of the auction, each scenario was discussed and the individual that purchased the best value bull in each scenario was recognized. Value was determined as the price paid for the bull compared to a price determined through an “economic selection index” equation. Beef producers (n = 322) participated in the program over 9 locations; in locations with less attendance, a reduced sale catalogue was used. Of the post-program survey respondents (n = 155), 71% were commercial beef producers, 27% were seedstock producers and 5% were Extension agents (n = 10, were cross classified). When asked how much time they spent reviewing the materials before the mock sale 8% said they made their decision at the sale, 16% spent 30 minutes or less, 58% spent 30 minutes to 2 hours and 18% spent over 2 hours preparing. When asked if the program would help with their next bull purchase, 88% said it would probably or definitely help. The conclusion was that this was a valuable educational program.

Abstract In breeding programmes, the genetic selection process is based on the prediction of animal breeding values, and its results may vary according to the employed selection method. The current study developed an economic selection index for animals of the Angus breed; performed cluster analyses using the breeding values in order to evaluate the genetic profile of the animals candidates to selection, and compared the obtained results between the economic selection index and the cluster analyses. The evaluated traits included weaning weight, 18-month weight, scrotal circumference, fat thickness and ribeye area. Economic values were obtained using bioeconomic modelling, simulating a complete cycle production system of beef cattle breeds in Brazil, and the selection objective were the weaning rate and slaughter weight. The chosen selection index was composed of all of the traits used as selection criteria for the simulated production system. During the cluster analyses, the population was divided into two to four groups, in which the groupings containing potential animals were assessed. The animals of the grouping which was used for comparison with the selection index were identified, and most of the bulls that were included in the index were among the best in the analysed group. These results suggest that the cluster analyses can be used as a tool for the selection of animals to be used as parents for future generations.

Forest development models have been used to predict future harvesting potentials and forest management reference levels under the Kyoto guidelines. This contribution aims at presenting the individual-tree simulator MASSIMO and demonstrating its scope of applications with simulations of two possible forest management reference levels (base or business as usual) in an example application. MASSIMO is a suitable tool to predict timber harvesting potentials and forest management reference levels to assess future carbon budgets of Swiss forests. While the current version of MASSIMO accurately accounts for legacy effects and management scenarios, effects of climate and nitrogen deposition on growth, mortality, and regeneration are not yet included. In addition to including climate sensitivity, the software may be further improved by including effects of species mixture on tree growth and assessing ecosystem service provision based on indicators.

Modern trends of human civilization development determine the individual educational way of person on the open education basis. A special place in supporting of personality development in the information society belongs to a tutor. A tutor is a central figure while a tutorial is an officially recognized component of the British educational system. Today this profession is actualized in many European countries. Social and personal request for a tutorial support is increasing in Ukraine. A tutorial is developing as a basis for the formation of teacher-student partnership. On the other hand, pedagogically expedient, subject-subjective, moral and aesthetic relations are a condition for the tutorial technology implementation. They form a personally oriented activity of two equal partners - a tutor and tutorant. It should be emphasized on the individual-socializing nature of tutorial. A tutor is not only responsible for the level of knowledge, but also for the formation (upbringing) of the individual. A tutorial accompaniment is a pedagogical education individualizing activity which is directed at the identification and development of educational motives and interests of the person, the search for educational resources for the creation of an individual educational program, the formation of person educational reflection. It involves the educational environment organizing, actual support for the formation and implementation of a tutor`s individual educational program; its methodical support. A tutorial support is carried out in accordance with the peculiarities of the age of the tutorants (from preschool age), provides the pedagogical provision of autonomous formulation and realization of the person's educational goals, stimulation and motivation of independent educational activity. The Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of Higher Education has carried out a tutor professional and pedagogical training at the National Dragomanov Pedagogical University since 2015.

The article presents the results of an empirical study of intentionality of adolescents studying in the a specialized and basic educational program. Intentionality of the individual is considered in two aspects: time (temporal) and content. The temporal aspect of personal intentionality investigated by determining the type of time perspective using the questionnaire by F.Zimbardo, while content aspect investigated by determining the orientation of the person (focus on themselves, or on the interaction, or on the task, determined by B.Bass orientation questionnaire). The article marked features peculiar to two aspects of the personal intentionality of teenage students studying in classes with the specific and the basic educational program. There are differences in the time component of the personal intentionality in the «Positive past» and «Future» orientation types and in content component in "Focusing on the interaction" and "Focus on the task" types. The article confirms the hypothesis of significant differences in the characteristics of temporal and content components of the personal intentionality of the teenagers, interprets the results, and gives the prospects of the study.

Shaping and acquiring new behavior can be facilitated through techniques called practice, modeling, and feedback. The paper also deals with the portrayal of desired behavior such as what it is the individual is to say or do. Identified discrete behaviors and behavior clusters subsequently become target behaviors for teacher training, classroom instruction, and teacher supervision. The emphasis here is upon building a repertoire of skills to enable individuals to perform tasks they seek to accomplish.

Implementation of rice extension as an effort to support the Program Upaya Khusus Peningkatan Produksi  Padi, Jagung dan Kedelai (Upsus Pajale) in Central Java Province. The extension of Integrated Crop Management (IPM) of rice technology aims to encourage farmers to implement the technology. The selection of extension methods affects farmers' acceptance of the IPM of rice. This study aims to examine the methods and media of extension used to disseminate IPM of rice and how farmers respond to extension methods and extension media. This study uses a quantitative approach. Data collection using survey techniques from September 2018 to March 2019. Respondents from 153 farmers were in 6 districts / cities, Purbalingga Regency, Tegal Regency, Magelang Regency, Purworejo Regency, Magelang City and Semarang City. The results showed that during the program period, extension worker used a variety of extension methods. Based on the target number, the extension worker used two extension methods, namely the group approach and the individual approach. Based on the recipient's senses, the extension worker used methods that prioritize the sense of sight, sense of hearing and a combination of sense of acceptance. The type of communication used is direct and indirect communication using print media, electronic media, and sometimes social media. Farmers think the extension method, extension media and extension tools are good enough. The response of farmers who rate is good enough can be an indicator that the implementation of extension is going well enough. For the implementation of extension services in the future, it is recommended that extension agents choose extension methods that are more appropriate for farmers so that the extension goals are achieved optimally.
