In the marine bioindicator species M. galloprovincialis Lam we predicted toxicity and bioaccumulation of 5 nm alkane-coated and 50 nm uncoated silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) along with Ag+, as a function of the actual dose level. We generated a time persistence model of silver concentration in seawater and used the Area Under the Curve (AUC) as independent variable in hazard assessment. This approach allowed us to evaluate unbiased ecotoxicological endpoints for acute (survival) and chronic toxicity (byssal adhesion). Logistic regression analysis rendered LC5096h values of 0.68 ± 0.08; 1.00 ± 0.20; 1.00 ± 0.42 mg h L-1 respectively for Ag+, 5 nm and 50 nm AgNP posing no evidence the silver form is a necessary variable to predict the survival outcome. By contrast, for byssal adhesion regression analysis revealed a much higher toxicological potential of Ag+ vs AgNPs, 0.0021 ± 0.0009; 0.053 ± 0.016; 0.021 (no computable error for 50 nm AgNP) mg h L-1, and undoubtedly confirmed a role of the silver form. Bioaccumulation was higher for Ag+ > 5 nm AgNP > 50 nm AgNP reflecting a parallel with the preferential uptake route / target organ. We, eventually, provided a full range of toxicological endpoints to derive risk quotients.

Abstract Aims Our study assesses the value of electrograms (EGMs) characteristics to identify a ventricular tachycardia (VT) isthmus entrance in patients with post-infarct VT. Post-infarct VTs are mostly due to a re-entrant circuit. A pacemapping (PM) approach is able to localize the VT isthmus during sinus rhythm. Limited data are available about the role of local EGMs in defining VT isthmus location. Methods and results Twenty consecutive patients (70% male) referred for post-infarct VT catheter ablation were included in the present study. The VT isthmus was defined according to the PM method. At each recording site, 10 characteristics of the local EGM were assessed to predict the location of the VT isthmus entrance. In total, 924 EGMs were acquired, of which 127 were located in the VT isthmus entrance. Logistic regression analysis showed that bipolar voltage, number of EGM positive peaks, and sQRS interval were independently associated with VT isthmus entrance location. The ROC curve best fitted the model at the cut-off 0.1641 (sensitivity 72%, specificity 75.2%, positive predictive value 31.3%, negative predictive value 94.4%, area under the curve 0.78, P < 0.001). Based upon these results, we developed an algorithm implemented in an automatic calculator to determine the likelihood that an EGM is located at a VT isthmus entrance. Conclusion Our study suggests that three EGM characteristics: bipolar voltage, number of positive peaks, and sQRS interval can successfully identify a VT isthmus entrance in post-infarct patients.

Abstract Factor and multiple regression analysis were used to extract the morphometric variables that contributed to feeding success in three small freshwater fishes. Of the first two factors, factor 1, showed high loading of gut weight (GW), length of the upper (UJ), and lower jaws (LJ) in mola, Amblypharyngodon mola (Hamilton), and GW and vertical mouth opening (VMO) in punti, Puntius ticto (Hamilton). In darikana, Esomus danricus (Hamilton), GW, horizontal mouth opening (HMO), and VMO were highly loaded on factor 2. Gut length (GL) was closely associated withGWof all three species. Subsequently, variables with high loading on factors 1 or 2 were subjected to multiple regression analysis to observe their effect on feeding success, consideringGWas the dependent variable and the extracted variables as the independent variable. In A. mola, HMO and GL influenced GW, whereas in P. ticto, only GL determined GW in the fish. In E. danricus, GL, VMO, and HMO exerted a low effect on GW. Exceptionally, the present study suggested that feeding success in small fishes is largely determined by UJ, LJ, and GL or mouth openings.

SummaryWe measured total and free protein S (PS), protein C (PC) and factor X (FX) in 393 healthy blood donors to assess differences in relation to sex, hormonal state and age. All measured proteins were lower in women as compared to men, as were levels in premenopausal women as compared to postmenopausal women. Multiple regression analysis showed that both age and subgroup (men, pre- and postmenopausal women) were of significance for the levels of total and free PS and PC, the subgroup effect being caused by the differences between the premenopausal women and the other groups. This indicates a role of sex-hormones, most likely estrogens, in the regulation of levels of pro- and anticoagulant factors under physiologic conditions. These differences should be taken into account in daily clinical practice and may necessitate different normal ranges for men, pre- and postmenopausal women.

The purpose of present study is to examine the role of learning strategies as moderator between meta-cognitive awareness and study habits among university students. Sample comprises of 200 students (100 male students and 100 female students) of various universities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi with age ranging from 18-25 years. In order to assess study variables questionnaires were used included Meta-Cognitive Awareness Inventory (Schraw & Dennison, 1994) measuring two-components of meta-cognition that are knowledge and regulation of cognition. Study habits demonstrated by the students were measured by the Study Habits Inventory (Wrenn, 1941). Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (Pintrich, Smith, Garcia, & McKeachie, 1991) which includes motivation and learning strategies scales. In the present study, only the learning strategies section was utilized, which measures the cognitive strategies and resource management strategies. Results revealed positive correlation between research instruments and are also having good reliability. Regression analysis reflected that meta-cognitive awareness predicts study habits among university students. Regression analysis also suggested that learning strategies including resource management strategies and cognitive strategies significantly moderates the relationship between meta-cognitive awareness and study habits. It is also explored gender differences on learning strategies, meta-cognitive awareness and study habits. Future implications of the study were also discussed.

The progress of the Islamic bank cannot be separated from the role of its customers who give trust to the bank to deposit their financial assets. It is a fact many groups of customers decide to be the customers of the Islamic bank because of their religiosity. The other influences factor of a customer’s decision is the quality of the product. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of product quality and level of customers’ religiosity towards customers’ decision whether to keep their funds in Syariah Mandiri Bank, Branch of Purwokerto, or not. The analytical tool used was multiple linear regression analysis, with a sample of 100 customers. The results indicate Y = 5,046 + 0,101X1 + 0,218X2. Based on F, it can be seen that both variables of product quality and religiosity simultanously affect the customers’ decision to keep theirfunds in BSM Branch of Purwokerto. Based on t test, it can be seen that independently, either variable of product quality or variables of religiosityinfluences the customers’ decision to keep their funds in BSM Branch of Purwokerto.

The independent independent variables in this study are Work Motivation, Interpersonal Communication and Organizational Culture while the dependent variable is the Performance Teachers and Employees SMPN 5 Pariaman. The sample used in this study as many as 32 respondents determined by using saturated samples. To know the influence of independent variable to dependent variable partially, used t test. While to know the effect of independent variable to dependent variable simultaneously, used F test. The assumption used in the validity test is if R-count> R-table item is declared valid. The R-arithmetic shown in the table above, from each item indicates that R-arithmetic> R-table so the item is declared valid. Based on the validity test of Work Motivation instrument, Interpersonal Communication and Organizational Culture on Teacher and Employee Performance, all items are declared valid and reliability test results indicate that the instrument has high reliability. This means that the eligibility criteria Instrument Motivation Work, Interpersonal Communication and Organizational Culture on Performance Teachers and Employees have met the criteria of good instrument requirements, namely valid and reliable. Regression analysis results obtained t count = 2.550 while t table = 2.042 so thitung> ttable and significance value is 0.000, this value is smaller than α = 0,05 so it can be said that motivation factor (X1) (Y) Regression analysis results obtained t count = 1.076 while the value of t table = 2.042 so that tcount < ttable or and its not significance value is 0.000, this value is smaller than α = 0,05, and proved variable of Interpersonal Communication (X2) (Y) Regression analysis results obtained t count = 1.715 while the value of t table = 2.042 so thitung< ttable and its not significance value is 0.000, this value is smaller than α = 0,05, and proved Organizational Culture variable (X3) The value of correlation coefficient (R) turns out that the correlation is positive. This means that there is a strong one-way relationship, where the change of increment that occurs in the free factor of Work Motivation, Personal Communication and Organizational Culture is accompanied by the change of the bound factor increase that is Teacher Performance (Y).
