A Method and Software Tool for Automated Gearbox Synthesis

In today’s economy, engineering companies strive to reduce product development time and costs. One approach to assisting this goal is to introduce computer-aided methods and tools earlier in the development process. This requires providing robust design automation methods and tools that can support design synthesis and the generation of alternative design configurations, in addition to automated geometric design. A new method for automated gearbox design, tailored for integration within an existing commercial gearbox analysis tool, is described in this paper. The method combines a rule-based generative approach, based on a previous parallel grammar approach for mechanical gear systems, with domain specific heuristics and stochastic search using simulated annealing. Given design specifications that include a bounding box, the number of required speeds and their target ratios, a range of valid gearbox configurations is generated from a minimal initial configuration. Initial test results show that this new method is able to generate a variety of designs which meet the design specifications. The paper concludes with a discussion of the method’s current limitations and a description of the work currently underway to improve and extend its capabilities.

The article discusses the main contradictions that arise during the transition between the stages of the software system development process. The causes of these contradictions are analyzed. The approaches to the elimination of identified contradictions, in particular, the approach based on the construction of domain-specific models (DSM), are examined. The disadvantages of such solutions based on the DSM approach are described. The substantiation of the relevance of developing a new method for constructing software systems is given.

This paper introduces analysis the development process of CAD technology, application of the AutoCAD software in engineering field and teaching as well as the significance of the development of two times the. This paper analyzes in detail the development of common language, and the use of Visual BASIC development and application of software based on AutoCAD. The author elaborates the software interface design and method calls AutoCAD in VB. Finally, the design and implementation of a programming language re-development system based on AutoCAD is concerned. The test results show that the developed AutoCAD two development system has good practical value.

The locomotive coupling came from the development of heavy-haul transportation in railway. Considering the insufficiencies of cable and radio in locomotive coupling at present, a new method of locomotive coupling is presented in this paper. The overall design of system scheme is provided based on WLAN. The system feasibility is analyzed and verified by using OPNET Modeler. The hardware structure of coupling transmission device and development process of embedded operating system are described briefly. Finally, taking measures guarantees the system reliability of data transmission.

CFD simulation of vehicle under-hood and under-body poses several challenges. Specifically, the complexity of the geometry involved makes the use of traditional mesh generation approaches, based on the boundary-to-interior methodology, impractical and time consuming. The current work presents the use of an interior-to-boundary method wherein the need for creating a ‘water-tight’ surface mesh is not a pre-requisite for volume mesh generation. The application of the new method is demonstrated for an actual passenger vehicle under-hood model with nearly a hundred components. Coupled radiation/convection simulations are performed to obtain the complete airflow and thermal map of the engine compartment. Results are validated with test data. The new method results in significant gains in efficiency over traditional approaches allowing the simulation tool to be used effectively in the vehicle development process.

An event is a means for students to improve their soft skill and hard skill. In college, one kind of event that usually held regularly is an exhibition. It is usually held around the universities environtment, but in practice there are still some shortcomings, such as the registration process is done manually, attendance of participants that are not integrated with the system, and unavailability of certificates for participants who have attended the event. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, organizing the events must be done online, so we need a system that can accommodate this. Therefore, this study aims to create an event management system that can manage exhibition event data. Besides, the system is also equipped with a feature to generate an E-Certificate that has a QR Code embedded. The method used in this study is Extreme Programming, with its flexible nature toward changes to facilitate the process of system development. The testing in this study is using black box method, with the test results show that all functional in the system can run well in accordance with user expectations. The use of the Extreme Programming method produces a quality system, because users are involved during the system development process.

Abstract Summary Current approaches for pathway analyses focus on representing gene expression levels on graph representations of pathways and conducting pathway enrichment among differentially expressed genes. However, gene expression levels by themselves do not reflect the overall picture as non-coding factors play an important role to regulate gene expression. To incorporate these non-coding factors into pathway analyses and to systematically prioritize genes in a pathway we introduce a new software: Triangulation of Perturbation Origins and Identification of Non-Coding Targets. Triangulation of Perturbation Origins and Identification of Non-Coding Targets is a pathway analysis tool, implemented in Java that identifies the significance of a gene under a condition (e.g. a disease phenotype) by studying graph representations of pathways, analyzing upstream and downstream gene interactions and integrating non-coding regions that may be regulating gene expression levels. Traditional method for measuring liquid level of absorption tower in wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) system is introduced in this paper, and it's found that measuring accuracy of the method exists in large deviation. A new method is proposed to measure liquid level of absorption tower for this situation. The local test results show that not only measurement result of new method is more close to the actual liquid level than traditional method, but also using new method can save operation cost and ensure the safety, stability, and economic operation of WFGD system.

Abstract As part of a strategy for obtaining preliminary design specifications from the House of Quality, genetic algorithms were used to generate and optimize preliminary design specifications for an automotive case study. This paper describes the House of Quality for the automotive case study. In addition, the genetic algorithm chosen, the genetic coding, the methods used for mutation and reproduction, and the fitness and penalty functions are descrobed. Methods for determining convergence are examined. Finally, test results show that the genetic algorithm produces reasonable preliminary design specifications.

Abstract A new method is described by which the Prandtl number and indirectly the thermal conductivity of fluids can be measured. The method is based on the fact that a well-established, unique relation exists between the Prandtl number and the recovery factor for laminar high-velocity boundary-layer flow. The test setup is described which has been devised for such measurements, and test results are presented for air at atmospheric pressure and temperatures between 60 and 350 F.
